Star Wars DVD Covers

Don't get me wrong, if I were in the same position Falle and Jupiter Prime were in regarding their cover sites I'd go with the donation route myself. I think the pay access POV is to limit the spread of an artists content in the internet. I see this in a lot of the pay cover forums. Many of the artists would prefer those seeking out their work to go straight to the source. Now, in Coov's and Rik's case (correct me if I'm wrong) they only create Star Wars content and this is the source to showcase their work. OT.com isn't a pay site, but if it were I'm sure they'd want others to go straight to the source for their covers (ie here). I'm sure when Sith Angel gets his site online, he'll go the pay or donate route too. I think it's our nature to want a little compinsation for our efforts even if they come from copyrighed material. What if you commisioned a local artist to draw a picture of Spider-man for example. So what I tell you is true, from a certain point of view. Drawing spider-man yourself would be different from using official licenced spider-man material, wouldn't it? Rik has (correct me if I'm wrong) requested that people repost his covers if needed - isn't that right Rik?

Thanks Rik for posting some of JP's covers... I second the motion to upload more of his covers.

it was a crappy constant bit rate capture, too dark, horrible colours etc but I was quite proud of the covers at the time. I could do a lot better now and will once I get my set finished but this is just to let people see them.

star wars
empire
jedi

also, here are some smallish shots of some of my static menus.

each movie has 48 chapter stops and has 7 menus. one main screen that leads to six chapter menu pages and all of them have different looping music tracks taken from the appropriate movies soundtrack.

the extras discs have one or two pages each but I designed them to flow from one disc to the other, see attached montage.

these are all anamorphic menus but I am showing them here as they would appear on a TV screen.

I can appreciate it takes time and effort to make covers... but wouldn't selling them be illegal (unless of course only fan-art was used and no trademarks were infringed upon)? I can see a huge problem with requiring people to put in some money before downloading. I respect Falle's decision to have a "donate" button on his website... but I wouldn't respect it if he required a payment to download his covers.

Info Wanted: Anyone Planning on making Anamorphic versions using 2006 OUT DVDs?

Just decrease the PAL's audio pitch by a semitone before speeding it up to match NTSC speed. Or keep it as a PAL DVD.

Besides, I don't think "anamorphic" conversions should be distributed... but maybe a tutorial or something could be made for those with widescreen tellies that can't stand non-anamorphic...

Some of you have linked or posted your covers but a couple of them i cant find. The JupiterPrimes Imperial spanning spine set is the one i miss.
Isnt it posted or what. If so where can i find it?
LOL, there's still a lot of the covers up. I'd give you some links but I'm too lazy to fish them out right now. Rikter seems to be the main guy who lets his links expire... so don't let him get to you!

I just spent ages using sticky tape to get it off a piece at a time. I'm in work at the moment so the only copy of PowerDVD I have is some useless cut-down Dell version, but first impressions of the transfers are not good. I'll see how they stack up when I get home.
They'll never look as good on a computer anyway.

Dude what is wrong with you? Are you out of touch with reality? He was killed while filming sting-rays for his newest documentary, the details of his death (a puncture to, or close to his heart) have been made public. He was killed, end of story - why is there someone who always just can't take reality?

It was on the news (TV), with the people who were filming the documentary. Here's a link to an Australian newspaper:

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/

They called it an accidental death on TV... but it was no "accident" - he was attacked by a stingray! Alright, it's not common to die from it... but it's no more an "accident" then dying from a shark bite. The stingray barb went through his chest and punctured his heart.

PS: He was only popular in the USA.

Two children.. they're not orphaned though...

It is ironic... I guess I should say something nice about him... um... he valued animal life (but not human life)... no... um, he was an entertainer (with no self-respect)... no... he was a good father... hmm... no... he was a father... um,... I know... he was a beautiful baby.

Agreed, but then again, it still begs the question: why?

I don't like the corridor changes... that was my biggest hate at the 97SE. But the Emperor change in the 2004 is worse (especially the new dialogue).

Selectable crawl on new DVD? Or just the old one?

The fact that you have to ask such a question goes a long way towards pointing out that these are not the boards for you, not that this much wasn't obvious to everyone else here.
It's advertised as including the "1977 Theatrical Edition". I think they're just avoiding a slippery-slope... if they put on a selctable crawl, why not selectable technical glitch fixes as well? Why not selectable special edition changes? ...
