So, I bought Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys; I can see how this amazing album inspired The Beatles to do Sgt. Peppers. This version came with both stereo and mono; the stereo sounds great, but I think I'll listen to the mono because I'm kindof an audiophile.

The issue is? This mono mix's quality is embarassing. There's hissing in the background through the whole thing; it sounds like it was a really early vinyl-to-CD transfer, with a bad noise filter. The strange part is, this new mono remaster is from 2006 while the stereo tracks date to 2000. However, the stereo tracks are supposedly HDCD, so... I don't know what to say.

The Special Edition wasn't needed.

It’s the outright truth. I look at the original clips, and then I see how the movie stood fine on its own without its “improvements”. Whether it’s the whole galaxy celebrating the destruction of the death star (which knocks the EU book Truce at Bakura out of the loop), or simple things like the space battle (where the improvemnts actually look good), they all stand out and just don’t feel… natural. I think I might prefer the OOT after all…
