Help: looking for... 'The Big Blue' - US version
Time

Grand_bleu_720p 5.97 GB

this is the US cut, it's the same file name and size as mine.

The two BD rips should be the same (i have the 720p already for portable use)

the two soundtracks as well are different but be advised that there was a two disc release of the Eric Serra score with a whole CD worth of additional music and they have just released this month a new remastered album with some unreleased music and demos. i'm hoping to get this next month

a little bit more info for you

there are actually 4 cuts of the movie

French Theatrical version (134 mins)

European Theatrical Version (119 mins)

US Theatrical Version (118 Mins with recut ending and Bill Conti score)

Version Lounge (extended cut 164 mins)

from memory, there isn't a DTS-MA 5.1 English track for it at all. closest to it is aa Dolby Digital 5.1 (640 kbps) on the Australian Blu-ray and a LPCM 2.0 track on the UK disc (be warned though as the first UK BD didn't have the English track, just a dubbed French track which they had to re-press)

there is also a DTS 5.1 track on the Japanese and Korean DVD's but that's the only DTS track released for it.

from what i recall on the other thread, there are a few subtle differences in timing between the two and some alternate footage as well as detailed here

the titles are also slightly different in both cuts

i can demux the 5.1 audio from the MKV file i got here from rutracker and dropbox / upload it to you DJ but FYI if your at rutracker it's listed under

Le Grand bleu / The Big Blue (edited version)

and the Bill Conti score track is audio track 4 (the first two being Russain dubs and track 3 being a hybrid of US cut with Eric Serra score)

additionally, i do have the US laserdisc of the US cut as well  (NTSC) with the original Stereo soundtrack

I am a massive fan of this film and have multiple DVD and Blu-ray editions of this as well as Laserdiscs, posters and the soundtracks (both Serra and Conti) so if anyone needs anything, give me a shout. I would love to see a 1080p custom Blu-ray of this to complete my collection

Hmmm. Some fella over at the blu-ray.com forums posted screens from the Aussie version of some of the notorious problem shots. Perhaps you could tell from these whether or not they correlate with any other source out there?

Thanks for those, I wish there were the same screenshots available of the Japanese release for comparison, because as of now we are liking the Japanese better, by any chance at blu-ray.com is there these same screens for the Japanese release?

Thanks again

you may want to track down the R6 DTS DVD of JP as well if your comparing

That was an exclusive DTS track to that region that was 1536kpbs  and apparently a different mix. I had it for a while and it sounded superb. very high bitrate as well whilst reading up on it

HTF reports both an English 7.1 DTS-MA, English 5.1 DTS-MA, and English 5.1 DTS.  Say WHAAAAA?

Ok, now I'm very interested.

 here we go

DTS Audio                       English         768 kbps        5.1 / 48 kHz / 768 kbps / 24-bit
DTS Audio                       English         384 kbps        2.0 / 48 kHz / 384 kbps / 24-bit
Dolby Digital Audio             Spanish         384 kbps        5.1 / 48 kHz / 384 kbps / DN -4dB
