Any luck on sharing yet?
This is really old. It says it was released but I don’t see where. Anyway, it sounds awesome. Does anyone have this?
I got it this time. Thanks.
I think the whole time 'You’re nothing, but not to me" has been misread. He isn’t saying you’re nothing as in “pfft, 'you’re nothing!” But more as in, he’s someone who supposedly has everything. He’s literally from two different lineages of royalty. A prince of Naboo, and a prince of Alderaan. His mother is the famous General Leia Organa-Solo. His father General Han Solo. His Uncle Master Jedi Luke Skywalker. He is currently the galaxy’s most powerful known Force wielder. There are all of the expectations on him. So he is “everything.” And it means nothing to everyone. He has felt abandoned, alone and unloved his whole life. That is what he meant by that line. She is an orphan, with no name (hah!) that no one knows about with no expectations. He (in a very bad way) was saying he didn’t care about that. Even though she didn’t have a name or any of the lofty background credentials that he did, she still was super important to him. Kylo/Ben had been with Snoke since his mid-teens had been emotionally abused by him. That is the only way he knew how to express affection, caring, love.
But, anyway. Yeah.
I do have the link now. YAY! Thank you! 😄
Link sent. I don’t think I was ever trying to add Kylo to the Tattooine ending. I’m not a fan of implying an abuser/abusee relationship became healthy. If it was clear he was there to help train the next generation of Jedi though…
Ah, see I never thought their relationship abuser/abusee and find that take – that is so prevalent – something I’ve never understood. (I can go on about it, and did originally, but figured this isn’t the place for it.)
Regardless, someone had suggested that shot of him helping to atone for his sins in the thread which is why I mentioned it.
Thank you for the link. (Actually, erm, I can’t find it! Wah!) I really do look forward to watching this. I’m going to try this weekend. 😃
Could I get a link, please? I’m really looking forward to seeing this.
(BTW: Did you see if it was possible to edit in a shot of Ben from Pasana as he’s walking towards Rey at the end of the film? I know you were trying to see about a way of getting him there at the end.)
I agree with you about your analysis, and it’s not a drastic restructure. I think I lump together two scenes from each subplot, since I’m getting rid of their horribly creepy first kiss scene, Anakin riding those weird giant tick-looking creatures, and their conversation at night about whether or not to hide their romance. You still jump back and forth, it’s just streamlined because most of the romantic scenes are just atrocious. In replacement of those I added in the scenes with Padme’s family. Their romance will be much slower and more subtle in this edit, with their first kiss being at the arena.
OK, I see what you mean. So many people seem to miss the importance of that juxtaposition and as someone who actually loves AOTC it drives me batty, so that’s cool. I see what you’re saying. That’s cool, that sounds cool.
I get what you’re trying to do, but I think this is a mistake:
–> Restructure the Kamino subplot and romance subplot so they don’t jump back and forth as often
Lucas juxtaposed these two storylines for a reason. By giving us Anakin and Padme falling in love in the Lake Country at the same time we (through Obi-Wan) learned about Kamino and the clones we saw love and war side by side. It made perfect sense juxtaposing the Lake Country and Kamino. You have the two young lovers falling on the one side, and the Clone army, set up for war, on the other.
We know that Anakin falling in love with Padme is going to eventually lead him to take the Dark Path, and the Clone Army is going to turn on the Jedi somehow. Having the introduction of the clones and the introduction of the love story juxtaposed is brilliant because here you have the two key forces that BRING THE JEDI DOWN: Order 66 and Anakin Skywalker falling in love. It’s so perfect.
If you take that away, you’re taking away that brilliant juxtaposition.
I do like some of your other ideas, though.
BTW: Are you going to use the better version of the Luke deepfake that’s been going around or stick with the show version?
Thats my bad. Sent a link over now 😉
Thank you. 😃 (And it looks like you did with the Siege of Mandalore what I’d like to do, so yay! I’m so excited to watch these (and Eddie’s which I haven’t gotten to yet either!)
I didn’t get a link, I don’t think. Pretty please could I get one! Thank you.
Could I get a link to both versions, please! 😃
Hope you think so after you’ve seen them! Please feel free to give feedback, including for episodes released earlier in the order - I’m always open to revising the earlier ones just as much as the more recent ones even after discussion has moved on.
I may do it this weekend!
I haven’t watched these yet, but MAN, I can’t wait until I sit down and do. This all sounds SO amazing.
It is seamless, but it still begs the question… why can’t she train him? She says “I can’t train him.” OK, then why?
I am clearly doing this wrong. I downloaded it, and zipped it, but I couldn’t find the actually movie. 😦 I swear I’m normally really good at this technology stuff!
Managed to finish the Trask to Corvus link. The damaged Razorcrest plot point has been removed from the movie.

At first, I was like… but we don’t know where that person who planted it came from but then I realized it doesn’t matter. So, yeah, it’s really good. Perfectly seamless.
The added “Moff Gideon” line given to Bo Katan still sounds rough. Can you pitch shift it down a few percent?
I’ve totally changed that scene now and it sounds much better. I’ll post a clip when it’s completed.
Hey! Loved your Season 1 cut, near flawless on my opinion, how’s the season 2 cut going?
95% complete. Unfortunately the last 5% include the opening crawl, opening pan shot, episode link scenes and the 2 major story alteration scenes… those take time.
What doesn’t help is being a medic with children during a pandemic lockdown… free time is scarce at the moment!
You’re awesome, dude!
I really liked TLJ, my main issues were that I didn’t quite believe Luke’s reasons for hiding, and the weird pacing and as you said, not actually intercutting between some of the different storylines.
And thanks. I hope that my final product doesn’t disappoint.
Knowing that you really liked TLJ, I may be more inclined to see what you do with it now, I admit.
I love TLJ for the most part, and I have zero issue with the Canto Bight story (except I do think it should have been intercut between the other stories). However, I do have issues TROS and this sounds really amazing. I’m really curious to see your finished product.
I’m just running through my first cut of the season 2 edit, and the one thing that keeps nagging me is a desire to put the Tattooine episode into this fanedit. I just feel that seeing how Fennic and Boba came together is important. Not necessarily for the Mandalorian, but for the Book of Boba Fett which seems like it will run alongside the Mandalorian.
I REALLY strongly feel that the Tattooine episode should be included. Of course, I also really strongly feel that the Jawa/egg stuff should as well. It is a side quest, but so was the village episode. The point of keeping that was because we got to know Cara more and it showed why Mando trusted her, plus showed Mando considering taking off the helmet. Well, I felt that the Jawa episode did much of the same character-wise. We got to know Kuill more, and it showed why Mando trusted him, plus it showed Grogu’s skills.
I really think that a few of the scenes from that episode are really important to establish Kuill more.
As for the Tattooine episode. YES, YES, YES!
I suppose there are four ways of doing this.
- Cut the village scenes completely and when Mando says “looks like this planet is taken” transition wipe to the Razorcrest in space. This would keep the current 2.5 hour run time.
- Keep the village scenes but cut the walker battle, giving a 2.75 hour runtime.
- Keep all the village scenes and have a 3 hour runtime.
- Produce two 2-hour movies for season 1 by including the initial Nevarro trip and Jawas and ending episode 1 as Mando escapes Nevarro with the child.
I still think the Nevarro trip should be included sorta, but I really think it just needs a trimmed down version of only the first scene with Karga, and then cut to Mando in space. That way Mando (and his awesome skill-set), the mission, the fob and Karga are all introduced boom in one quick scene. And when Karga shows up in the transmission we know exactly who he is from that first scene.
And, of course, I’d still throw in the Moff’s alive scene after Mando flies off with Baby Yoda, right before he puts the grave together for Kuiil. I think it would fit beautifully there. I just think it would flow together nicely. The OOH! of the fly-off, to the jittery ooh! of the Jawas transition, and then the dun-dun-dun of the Gideon reveal which is a oh no! to the downer reminder of Kuill’s death. I think that has a good flow.
I say keep the village, but drastically cut it down. As much as I loved your edit, I did feel that the village stuff slowed the movie down (i also thought that episode was the weakest of season one). Frankly, you don’t need all of the pretty village lady stuff since nothing comes of it.* All of the reaction shots with her, all of the close moments with her, all of the attention/focus on her, cut almost all of that. There is enough with her and Grogu you can keep (like when we first meet her–that convo should be kept) that him nearly taking off his mask makes sense that it’s about Grogu, the lifestyle. And the convo with Cara and Mando easily can cut out her query about the “pretty villager lady” when the two are talking about his mask.
*For instance, Mando/Cara ask who has experience with guns. Focus on pretty villager lady raising her hand. Focus on her showing off during training. And then… during the battle, a bunch of the villagers are shooting guns. So, yeah, ALL of that could have been cut. Again, cut the PVL focus and you cut some nice precious seconds that add up to some nice precious minutes!
Oh, and, yes, cut down the walker fight big time. When I was watching it, I figured that a bunch of when Cara/Mando go off to distract the bad guys could be cut as well.
By doing that, running time-wise, you can cut a good chunk. Maybe.
If you cut all the PVL stuff, cut the walker battle stuff down, add that one opening Nevarro scene, some of the Tattooine stuff (and pretty, pretty please–the Jawa/egg/Kuill stuff), I see it easily fitting under 2.75/3 hours, I don’t see how that length would be a problem.
And, yes, I completely understand that I’m just totally hoping you’ll do this so that I don’t have to make my own edit! 😄 (The only thing I’d add other than this is putting Mayfield in, but, eh, I could live without him.)
I, of course, could be COMPLETELY wrong about the timing. If I am, and just going by your four choices above: I’d go with 4 personally. But, damn, that would be a lot more work for you. My second choice would be 1.
I’m assuming you mean an edit of the Sequel Trilogy that only covers Kylo/Ben’s scenes or scenes that deal with his story? Hmm, I haven’t seen one like that. I might be interested in doing that before I start work on my massive SW Comprehensive edit, to get my feet wet on editing so to speak.
ETA: orion13 is doing a “SW: Rise & Fall of Kylo Ren” edit (WIP) but it’s not a straight edit of Kylo/Ben’s story as is.

Reading this thread, I’m really curious to see the finished product of this. (Although, I’m assuming that the Rey/Ben kiss has to be gone which does bum me out). However, with putting the scene where Kylo throws his red lightsaber away* at the end since he’s still wearing the cape/Kylo outfit, that shot of him walking in the desert in Passana can be used walking up to Rey now in Tatooine in the final scene.
Everything you’ve done sounds so exciting and fascinating.
NM, I sent a pm to @eddiedean.
The edit is starting to come together. Looking at a runtime around the 2h 25 region.
I’ll start posting some completed clips. Here’s the Tusken Raider meeting. I’ve trimmed down the speeder bike journey and cut the campfire scene.
It looks good. Seamless. What software do you use, and how do you make the SW wipes?
Thanks
I use Final Cut Pro. The SW wipes are basic transition wipes available in all editing programs.
OK, thanks. I thought you had mentioned that. Yeah, I don’t have a Mac. Cool. Thanks. I have SO many ideas for what I want to do for my “Comprehensive SW Saga.” I want to make a Rebels edit (2, maybe 3 movies from it), and 4-6 TCW movies, and also try my hand at some edits of all the SW movies (just little ones–except for RToS) and the two Mando seasons. It’s really exciting! I’m so overwhelmed by the talent here!
Finally had a chance to sit down and give this a watch. Wow! I knew this was going to be good, but not as great as this.
A few thoughts -
At no point did it feel like anything was missing. Obviously I knew what had been cut out, but the seams were pretty much non-existent.
I personally feel like the original introduction of Mando works a little better than just seeing him being rescued by Kuill on Arvala-7, however I see where you were going with it.
In removing the Tatooine episode, you have omitted the ending scene in which Fennec is rescued by Boba Fett. Will this scene be included in your Season 2 edit, or will it just be assumed that the two have always been travelling together?
Other than those two queries, this is pretty much the best way to watch Season 1 without all of the fluff that held it back the first time round.
Thankyou!
The edit originally opened on Nevarro and I didn’t cut those scenes until very late on. In discussion with others here we agreed that it didn’t add a great deal and allowed the movie to be shortened by 20mins.
The thing I like most about starting on Arvala, is that when Mando then goes to Nevarro, as the viewer you experience it from the point of view of the child.Short answer here is no. It’s very easy to cut the 2 lines from season 2 that references their past meeting. I would love to include that scene in episode 2 but there is no way of logically including it.
The longer answer is that I may go back and replace the Sorgen village with the Tatooine episode.
What I am definitely going to do is run 2 parallel projects. This project which is one movie per season at around 2.5 hours and another project that is either an extended cut of 3.5 hours or 2 movies per season clocking in at just under 2 hours.
I haven’t done it yet because I’m still trying to get the best software (and, yeah enough time), but I have an idea on how to possibly include both Tatooine and Sorgen. There are quite a few cuts I’d make to the village episode, even more than you did by far from that.
I do think your edit is outstanding, but I really want to try and see if I can pull it off. :shrugs: I’ll see.
