Info: Mad Max Rarities/Road Warrior Japanese DVD

Nevermind - is this it? Looks pretty interesting. Is your DVD better quality than the scenes on that site?

From what I understand now, the original Japanese limited edition release is currently out of print. Does that make it up for fan distribution?

As for other stuff, I just found this - looks kind of neat:

Classic Edition: Return of the Jedi by Ocpmovie (Released)

That one is my favorite - I had never seen the poster before that it was based on. It really has a very mythic quality to it; makes you see the characters in a slightly different way. Great use of colors and arrangement of figures - having the falcon cutting diagonally over the cloud city is neat.

Software Q's

What programs do folks here use for their DVD/other video capture? What programs do you use for your compression, if any? Editing? Burning? Just curious.

Does anyone have a preferred method of copying preservation DVD's? I also want to start making pro bono copies for my circle of friends but have had problems burning a few.

VHS Transfers?
Time
I realize that this is completely counter-intuitive and is a question coming from a complete newbie, but is it possible for a VHS transfer to come out with a cleaner final product than a LD transfer simply by virtue of the compressions for both? I don't know why, but VHS material that I see on fan preservation DVD's often looks great. Please don't throw anything at me - I'm just curious if anyone has done any comparison work, say the first 5 minutes of Star Wars ripped from Faces VHS vs. Faces LD.
