For VHS with "copy protection," I think all you need to do is to tape a piece of tape over that empty square spot.

What he's referring to are the moving dark shapes over Palps face in ROTJ (to correct something-or-other). To be honest, I've not seen ROTJ in a long time since hearing about these, and never really noticed them. That being said, I'm scared to watch it now, because I know that once I see them, they'll stick out at me.

That's exactly what I want to see fixed - they are, above all else, probably the worst eyesore sfx in the OT. I don't even understand why they are there. I noticed them when I was like 5 (in 1986), so I am surprised you've never seen them.

Thanks DJ - coming from you, this is a big compliment. You've done some great work here.

I didn't make a case or artwork or anything, since I don't really have those kinds of madskillz. However, I do have a .tif of the menu picture, which actually was an image I just found online. I'll go ahead and upload it, just in case anyone would like to use it to make a cover - if anyone wants to, I would really appreciate it - if you do, please email me a copy and I'll do another upload link here for anyone who would want it.

I really think what I used is my favorite Nosferatu image, since (I think) it is based off some of Albin Grau's * original artwork.

I really like this image, too, if anyone wanted to make an old-school Nosferatu cover.

* I just read some of Grau's autobiography - he died in the Nazi concentration camp at Buchenwald. Pretty god-awful. Fucking Nazis.

I think Winzip will work, but even if it doesn't I would totally suggest getting 7zip, as it is very versatile and uninvasive and handles all sorts of compression formats.

Do you know anything about emulating on the Playstation 2 using the exploit?

It will actually be uploaded right here, via Rapidshare links. Nosferatu is in the public domain, so I got permission to post here rather than off-site. I am actually uploading the first chunk right now, but it is going slower than I had anticipated. Definitely going to be sometime tomorrow night or Saturday before I get it all up (I have to work sometime).

The benefit, though, is that once it is on Rapidshare, anyone can get it, whenever they want, "forever."

By the way, I ended up doing zip files with 7zip. You'll have to get all 4 chunks before you can unzip the whole package.

Just in case anyone is wondering, I "officially" changed part of this project title from Eine Symphonie Des Grauens to A Symphony Of Horror. First off, at this point, I'm using the English translated subtitle cards anyway, since that is all I have to work with, and there's no real reason to preserve the German ambience in this release since it is pretty far removed from the original. Second, the movie now does have "a symphony of horror" for its soundtrack.

I really hope that my decision to not include the SOTN soundtrack as well hasn't turned anyone off this project. I really think that when you actually see the movie with this music, and then try to imagine the same scenes with SOTN's soundtrack, most would agree that it's not as good a fit as the one that I chose.

Did you ever think about using the soundtrack to the SNES game, Nosferatu? It's been a long time since I played that game, though, and I don't remember what it sounds like at all.

That soundtrack is not bad, actually, and would have been nice to use, but there are only 12 tracks to it, unfortunately, which won't fill even half the movie, likely. Just so you know, though, that game has found its way into this project in another way, though.

I am including the source soundtrack for this in mp3 format as DVD-ROM material, too, for anyone who would like that. I know I did.

At this point, the project is done - I just need to upload it. I will try to get on that tonight or tomorrow. It will be packaged in a .rar file. Does anyone have a problem with that?

Seriously, though - I've heard people talk about it, but I've never used Vegas (the editing software). Doesn't it use a ton of plug-ins? And are these Sony plug-ins or third party (or both)? And do they cost extra beyond the initial cost of the program?
