STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
Well things are picking up speed now. I've just completed all rotoscoping for the lightsabers & lasers. I've been messing about with some music for the duel and I've found that i can have the battle of the heroes theme included in the score, but i'm not going to tell you where it fits in perfectly but it does give the exact emotional feel that i was looking for. Just started the TIEs vs Falcon shots now.

Some interesting ideas there SomethingStarWarsRelated. I am hoping to add a scene with Vader & the Emperor directly before the throne room scene. I want to do it in a way that i won't have to lose the scene in ESB. I think that the new dialogue for the holo scene in ESB seems really out of place so i want the emperor to inform Vader about luke in this film.

I haven't had chance to read through all the posts because i've been too busy. but when i get enough time i will reply to all your ideas & comments as soon as i can.

Anyway, I've just completed the final Trailer for REVISITED. I've uploaded it to rapidshare and i will be posting it to a.b.starwars later tonight. Its about 57mb because i decidd not to post an xvid because of compression so its animorphic MPEG at full DVD resolution. The bitrate is a lot lower than the final movie will be so i could keep the file size down. It contains a few more new shots and will also be the last shots ever posted until its all finished and released. I don't want to give too much away although it does contain the opening of the duel its has been edited to fit the trailer so won't appear this way in the finished film. All shots, apart from one (the death star battle shot) are finished effects and will appear as they are here in the final version.

Enjoy

That's pretty much the only reason I would do it- to satisfy these people. Because it would become a whole different movie (and a weaker one). The whole point was that I couldn't create a good, logical movie out of Ep. II with the original source material.

I understand the trepidation regarding the new ADR, but lets see if it's still bothering some people after it's finished and my new takes are mixed back in. Who knows- you might be surprised...

I wouldn't worry about trying to satisfy them. No matter what you do there will always be people that have a different opinion about any edit. After all.. It is YOUR vision so do it the way that satisfies you. If they don't like the new ADR then so be it but at least you won't have had to compromise on your original idea to try and please everyone. If they don't like the new Anakin voice tuff cuz there will be plenty that do. After all ANH used the same voice actor for 3 characters (commander on Tantive 4, barkeep & Dodonna) and is glaringy a dubbed voice but i haven't seen many ( if a any) people complain about that.

I for one can't wait for this release.

so this means for all of you: please open the iso file with an image tool like alcohol or daemon tools, burn the contents without the two bmp files with nero (or your regular burnign software)and you should be good to go.
I am really sorry for the inconvinience. Still the DVD works as it is. Feel free to post it as a different torrent. I will put up a corrected version on Rapidshare in a week or so.

You could create a .ppf file to correct the errors that would only be a small file to correct the error without having to re-upload a complete new torrent. Just Use PPFOMATIC to apply a ppf patch, so simple. not sure what prog you use to create the patch but i'll have a search around and let you know..

That's something that really annoys me. The amount of work that you, and others, have put into fan releases then someone comes along and makes a load of money from them. I think we should start our own rebellion and overthrow their empire.

Anyway, i had a few friends and my daughters round to watch Returning to Jedi tonight and they all agree with me that you have done an amazing job with this. It was so much better than watching just making of featurettes. So informative and seeing the new footage was pretty funny to see us all, simultaneously, jump to the edge of our seats and go "WOW". We all felt like a bunch of kids getting the latest "in" toy for Christmas.I really hope that you are going to tackle ANH because even though Deleted magic was also amazing, it would be great to have a trilogy release from you that flow together.

If you ever need any help, just give me a shout

Maybe nero was unable to order the contents because there's files inside the VIDEO_TS directory which don't belong there: _spcLB.bmp & _spcPS.bmp..

Yeh, these files would create a major problem with some DVD players. They should not be within the VIDEO_TS folder. Just either move them outside the VIDEO_TS in a created DVD_ROM folder or just delete them from the structure before burning.

Originally posted by: kaine23Ok, is there anything we can do to fix the iso problems then??

You need to unpack the ISO file to reveal the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folders so that you can eliminate these files. You can then either burn the folders using nero or create a new ISO with ImgTool Classic or any other ISO creation tool

I know, it's getting pretty bad. I still believe that its a consipricy by Lucasfilm to stop us finishing our projects.

Anyway, good news is that it was the power supply that had blown. Just performing an indepth disc scan now but things seem to be ok. So everythings back on track now.

Some bad news guys. My PC has just just died. Earlier this moring there was a loud bang and the electricity trip switches went off. upon restoring power i attempted to restart the PC but nothing. I'm preying that its just my power supply thats gone. The ssmell was pretty bad but i can't identify where it originated from. It looks like there is power getting to the board because the light on the Lan port is on but it just refusues to switch on. Things are pointing to the power supply but i'm just preying that it hasn't damaged anything else. Had to pinch the wifes laptop and come on here to let you guys know i may be offline for a while until i get things sorted.

It's blody typical because i was in the process of doing a test render of the new Obi-Wan / Vader dual with completed re-rotoscoped sabers. I've been getting so much done recently too.

Anyway, i'm off to try and see if my local computer store has a power supply ( they're pretty crap so i'm not getting my hopes up)

I opened each trailer in quicktime player & saved as a self contained movie, but this only gave me a small 3kb file for streaming. I renamed the .mov file to .txt, opened it up and among the code is the proper url for the complete file. I then used flashget to download it. Sometimes it won't allow you to save the movie but if you look in your internet cache folder there should be a small .mov file that you can do the same thing with. sometimes you have to repeat the process with the new file you downlaod to find the correct url. It works about 90% of the time.

heres the link to the 3 cinemax trailers.

Sorry the fixes don't work for you guys. I was hoping that using just the new ifo files would work, which it did after testing, but it now looks like it must have to change the vob files somewhat too because when i re-added the original files back to the disk to seed it had to redownload some sections of the vob files. I'll see what i can do .

EDIT: just tried your new files Jambe and its work fine, a slight pause in windvd at the chapter change but it doesn't skip back now. I have noticed that in ifoedit it is now reporting 2 layer breaks again but this time at chapter 23 & 24. This might cause a problem in some players but it does look fixed

again i'm sorry to anyone who wasted disks with my fixes. I did test them first (the SL one burned and tested on my dvd player) and everything seemed fine. I hope i'm not going to get linched for this.

ok, here's something you can try. Load the DVD into DVDSHRINK. Individually highlight the menus, then the main movie then extras and for each one in the compression settings select "no compression". Then in "edit>preferences goto the output files tab and make sure that "remove layer break" isn't selected. Then create your dvd. If this still fails then set the main movie compression to 99% and create it. The won't be any loss in quality but it helps to rebuild the structure and should now be compliant. After you have recreated the dvd open the VTS_01_0.IFO in IFOEdit ( feely available on the net) and check that there is only 1 layer break and it is is only set at chapter 21 (it will say layer break next to the chapter).

Like i said i haven't been able to fully test the DL fix because i have no disks but it did work through WINDVD

ok. I've removed the layer break from chapter 23 that seems to be causing the problems. So, hopefully, heres the fix for dual layer burning. To apply the fix just do the same as before, unpack the fix file and drag & drop the new files into the VIDEO_TS folder and overwrite them.

Hopefully this will work but i haven't been able to check a DL burn so save a copy of the original .IFO & BUP files first just in case

>>>LINK REMOVED <<<

Jambe, could you open your original VTS_01_0.IFO in IFOEdit ( feely available on the net) and could you tell me what your original files are reporting for the layer break. Might help to see if burning to a DL-R is adding the extra layer break

Fist off i have to say AMAZING job you have done here Jambe. Just finished watching it and loved every bit of it.

Secondly i think i may have found the problem some are having with it freezing after shrinking it. i opened the disk in PGCEdit and i noticed that the main movie has 2 layer breaks. 1 at chapter 21 then a second at chapter 24. This can cause problems in some players and shrink will remove the first layer break but not the second and then when it reaches the second on while playing it will freeze (happens a lot with certain sony players).

For anyone who is going to shrink the movie for a SL DVD here's a fix that will stop the freezing issue. Don't worry its only a really small download.

>>>LINK REMOVED<<<

Just open the original VIDEO_TS folder and drag the files from the unpacked fix and overwrite the existing files then run it through shrink and no more freezing problems. Tested it on my 3 DVD players (one is a brand new Sony that had the same freezing issues mentioned) and it played fine

Unfortunately i don't have any dual layer discs to check if the second layer break can cause problems . Jambe, if you can tell me what chapter you added the correct layer break then i may be able to provide a fix for the DL version too.

Hope this helps

Question: The matte, though finally corrected could use a touch up in the highlight range. Would adding an overlay color layer in After Effects make this possible?

Do you mean the tractor beam glow? If so the beam actually fades in and out throughout the shot. the frame i posted was one of the first few frames. heres a shot from a few frames later

Just a small very quick update; The interiors of the death star are now all metal grey and no longer that horrible oversaturated blue on the 2004 DVDs. It has created some minor video noise in some parts but i can live with that just to get the death star to look metallic once again. It does look a whole lot better too. Ever so slightly darker now too but it does give it a better overall look especially during the dual.

The opening tractor beam shot has also slightly changed. Thanks to the suggestion by Sluggo, to make the matte look less static i have added a couple of troopers on the bridge lower down the chasm and then as they walk off the bridge retracts.
http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/8786/newtractorbeamlesscomprqv7.jpg

Also i may have finally been able to have Obi-Wan say " I wanted you to have this when you were old enough..." instead of "you're father wanted you to have this..." when giving Luke his saber. I managed to get hold of both "Smiley" series that Alec Guinness did for the BBC and i've done a few tests and its looking promising, so fingers crossed.

Ok, that's it and now back to work for me.

Not too sure how that has happened other than its a result of dropping the blue levels. i'll see what i can do.
