Well other people have managed to burn the NTSC DVD-9 using nero without the fix successfully so i'm not sure what the problem could be. You say that PowerDVD has stopped working so it could be a problem with your system somewhere. Does your standalone player play DL DVD's that you have burned before without problems? The best thing to so is apply the fix and burn with imgburn. Its really easy to do. If you still have problems after the fix then you have a problem with either the media or your system

This is my first attempt at buring DLs, at least for video. Only other times I've used them have just been data. PowerDVD was the last resort, tried it on the stand alone player first, then other software.

As long as Imgburn is free, I'll try it. Can it be downloaded? I also tried a free burner program called Starburn...that was even worse. Disc wouldn't stop when it got to the menus, just kept playing track after track non stop.

Ok, update. Maybe Ady or someone else can figure this one out.

My NTSC DVD-9 came from RapidShare via fanedit.org.

Applied Ady's ISO fix in spite of the fact that I'm not using Imgburn.

Now, when I burned it pre-fix, Nero gave me some kind of "non-critical error, do you want to continue" message. I hit yes and burned the disc and ended up where I was on my previous post.

Applied the fix and burned a new disc. Nero didn't give me that "non critical error" thing this time. Now, I can get to the Alderaan and Biggs deleted scenes, but they're not those scenes. They're two halves of the Escape from Docking Bay 94. The Alderaan one is the gang getting on the Falcon as the Sandtroopers enter the bay and the Biggs one is the rest of that scene as the Falcon eludes the Star Destroyers.

Now what?

Ok, I just managed to burn the DVD9 without the ISO fix using Nero. When I fire it up in my stand-alone player and try to access the two new Deleted scenes - Alderaan and Luke & Biggs - the disc ejects. Do I need the ISO fix anyway? Tried it on the computer using VLC Media Player - same problem. Trying the Isolated Music Track also locks up the player.

Anyone?

Anyone?

What make of DL-DVD are you using? When you try the isolated track is it your stand alone player or VLC that locks up? It does sound like a bad burn to me but VLC isn't the best player to use for DVDs as i've had problems with that player locking up when using it to watch a dvd

Sony DVD-DL, Magnavox stand-alone DVD recorder and tried various player softwares for the computer - VLC, Windows Media and Nero Showtime. Cyberlink PowerDVD isn't working properly at the moment...gotta re-install it or upgrade or something. Problem happens no matter how I play it. Tried burning a second copy, same problem.

So, I tried to print a DVD cover (again)...
Time
Doing it thru Paint the way I said assumes that the original file is 300dpi. If it isn't, then you have to use the Scale % to adjust the sizing up or down accordingly.

Also, depending on your printer's margin tolerances and the size of the cover, you might be able to get away with leaving it on "letter" size. You'll have to experiment with that for yourself. If you're printing a wide DVD cover, anything bigger than your standard Amaray size, then you have to hit "legal" and print on legal size paper no matter what.

Sheesh, the old cliff looks way more realistic. The background looks nice in the new one, though.

You can't be serious. The new shot actually looks more realistic to me. Either way, both shots don't scream "OMG CGI!" like most of you are doing. Who cares if the matte painting is digital or not? I wouldn't expect anyone to hand paint a piece of glass for a shot like that these days.

To me, the shot looks a lot cleaner and a lot better now. But don't let my opinion sway you from your "OMG CGI sucks!" mentality. It may be that the shot was replaced to make it actually look good for a Blu-ray release.

The problem with the CGI tweaks that were done to Star Wars are that some of them actually changed the story (whether Lucas wants to admit that or not doesn't matter). The minor tweaks, like making the fighters more fluid in the space battles, don't bother me nearly as much as the lame tweaks like Greedo shooting first and Hayden replacing Shaw at the end of Jedi. Hell, the Greedo shooting first probably wouldn't even bother me if he hadn't missed! 3ft away and he can't hit a stationary target. He deserved to die for that alone.

That's my logic as well. I can live with any changes that are technical improvements - matte lines, image quality, action staging, alignment, whatever. It's when those things end up changing story and character elements, like Greedo and Hayden, that it bothers me.

That's not a bad idea - use transmission static and video fade to cover up where you need to edit the new video to fit the old audio. Audio static and processing can explain/help hide that it's not McD's voice, or if you really experiment with it, find a way to make the old audio sound MORE like McD, or at least close enough that you can use audio static to cover the difference the rest of the way.

I was gonna say...the 9 at fanedit/RapidShare is the full Revisited version. They list an NTSC Purist 5 on RapidShare and the same as a torrent on Demonoid, as well as various AVI versions, but the only PAL they list is a 5 Revisited, no PAL Purist 5 or 9. So your fanedit DVD choices are:

NTSC Revisited 5 - RapidShare, PirateBay, Mininova
NTSC Revisited 9 - Rapidshare
NTSC Purist 5 - Demonoid
PAL Revistied 5 - Rapidshare

along with a few permutations of XVID AVI's.

Anyway here is a short comparison clip showing a short scene of the Hoth battle with the first pass colour correction and the original 2004 DVD colour. Don't forget this is just the first basic colour pass. many elements have to be done later like missing sky colour (which in some shots is also missing from the 2004 DVD's). You can also see just how green C-3PO is in the DVD versions

COLOUR CORRECTION VISUAL COMPARISON XVID 25mb Approx

I realize you're not up to this point yet, but the sound pitch felt a bit high. I'm guessing that's because you're working from a PAL source and haven't converted it to NTSC yet, so it's a bit off because of the difference in the frame rate?

Ok, Does it matter what type of Duel layer disk you use?

Functionally no, but there are better brands out there. Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden are supposed to be the best. It also depends on your drive, the particular software you use and what speed you burn the disc at. Lotta trial and error.

Where is THE complete DVD 9 Torrent and what website?

I personally don't do torrents, I've been working on getting the RapidShare version over at fanedit.org.

I just tried getting your label and while it looked fine on screen in the browser, once I saved it and tried to bring it up in some other program, it wouldn't load.

If it's fine in the browser, try right-clicking and copying the image, then pasting it into whatever program you're trying to open it with.

That was one of the first things I tried when it didn't work the normal way. No luck.

Odd, because it's working for me just fine out of FF. Here's another theory... it's a huge image, is it possible you're not letting it load completely before trying to work with it? I know that's unlikely, but it's the only thing I can think of.

Ron Moses

Ok, this is weird. FF tried to save it as a JPG - it would save but when I tried to open it, it wouldn't work. File size was about 9K. Just fired it up in IE and it saved it as a 27MB "untitled BMP" and that worked.

Higher rez w/o border is available if anyone NEEDS it.

Can you post versions without the big white dot in the middle? I use full-face labels, not CD labels.

If it's fine in the browser, try right-clicking and copying the image, then pasting it into whatever program you're trying to open it with. That always works for me in that situation. (Of course this assumes you're trying to open it in some kind of editor, not just an image viewer.)

Digging up this thread...

Did anything ever happen with this? I have the Elite 2 disc LD and I'm considering getting my computer up to speed to be able to convert the supplementary stuff to DVD, but if someone else is already working on it...

Far as I can tell, the audio commentary from this disc is one of the extra commentary tracks on the Infinifilm DVD. Beyond that, the whole second LD needs to be preserved.

Hey Ghostcut, I've just uploaded cover art for the Purist edition to Rapidshare http://rapidshare.com/files/116592356/revisited_4_label_purist_copy.jpg.html , I altered Ady's fantastic cover to suit. I must say it looks nice alongside the amazing DVD-9.
I have been following this thread for months now and downloaded all versions. I must say Ady, you have done a bloody brilliant job mate. You should be very proud of your Amazing work.
I would have added a picture of the disc art here, but I don't know how :-(

Why should the blast colors match? The guns don't match. The clones' guns in the prequels are different models than the troopers' guns in the OT. Maybe they have a different energy signature, which makes the blasts a different color. By that logic, if you're going to make all the gun blasts the same, then all the lightsabers should be the same color too.

There's no reason to change the colors.

Thanks for the Rapidshare links Boon23... but can I really only download one rar file per hour as a free user?

For something like this, it's worth spending the few $ to become a temporary Premium member. The 48 hour access at 4.50 euro works out to about $7 US, and if you want to take your time the 1 month access at $6.99 euro is about $11 US. We're not talking high finance.
