Idea: Suggestion to Adywan for an edit in RTOJ

A forum etiquette unlike any I've seen before. Wow.

It's the aloofness that comes with familiarity.  Those of us that have been here longer know each other's attitudes and senses of humor, so it's easier for us to tell when someone is being purposely insulting and when it's just an obtuse attempt at levity.  You've only got 60 posts in where Solo, Frink, me and others have hundreds, and plenty of others have thousands.  Thicken up your skin and try to find patterns in people's posts over time rather than judging individual comments.

Looks very good.  Might need to play with the speed a little though.  In some of the unaltered speeder flap shots elsewhere in the battle, the flaps seem to move a little faster.

There was also a continuity goof you made.  Right at the beginning during the exchange between Luke and Rogue Two, the flap closes while Rogue Two says his line, then when it cuts to Luke's "Set harpoons" line, the flap is open again.  Then the next shot - the tracking one behind both speeders - the flap is on Rogue 2 is closed.

The AVCHD will be a DVD-9 so the bitrate will be around equivalent to that of the original HD source file

Forgive me for not being very tech-savvy, but will the AVCHD DVD-9 be playable on regular DVD players?

No.  The whole idea of AVCHD is that it's effectively a Blu-Ray signal squashed down to fit on a standard DVD-9.  It's about space compression, not backwards compatibility.

The reason so many people have religion is because, (in context to creation) science cannot explain creation without saying Bang.

I hate to start an argument, but I cannot grasp the idea of a creation without a creator. The universe couldn't have just decided to exist. My beliefs are easier to grasp than "It just happened".

So the universe couldn't have just popped into existence on its own but God did, and he then created the universe?  So then how did God begin to exist in the first place...where did He come from?

It's all relative.

I was brought up Catholic but after a while I gave up going to church because it seemed like there was too much emphasis on just bumbling your way through life hoping that God will sort out all your problems for you rather than taking responsibility for your own actions and being in control of your own life.  If I'm not in control of what happens to me then why do I need to exist in the first place?  Religion just reduces the individual to being some unseen entity's form of amusement.

All the different religions of the world all think that their version of God is "the right one", when in point of fact they all believe in the same thing, they're just calling it by different names and developed different methods of showing it.

Basically, they're arguing over who has the better imaginary friend.

It's really no different than any other kind of model/puppet animation, the only issue is the material you're working in.  The one issue I have heard about is that the lighting tends to melt the clay puppets, so you need to keep your set well air-conditioned and work fast.  Having a spare refrigerator to store everything in when you're not shooting would help too.

All this reminds me of something my nephew said a few years ago.

February in the US has recently been deemed "Black History Month", when news reports and magazine shows focus on accomplishments of African Americans throughout US history.

Late in the month, after coming home from school one day, my nephew was apparently getting tired of it and asked "When are they going to have White History Month"?

I think it looks more "daytime" where the real Fox logo is more "dusk/early evening", but I imagine replacing the sky texture will take care of that.

Subtle thing here, maybe it's modeled that way and just hard to tell, but it seems like all the edges of the structure are "sharp", perfect right angles.  If it were a real structure, the edges would be blunted off just a touch.  Don't know how much work it would take to re-model it with the edges rounded just a tiny fraction, but might be worth pursuing.

Starts around 14 minutes. As much as I wish he'd release a proper version of Star wars, it's tough for me to bash the guy too much. He's given me some of my very favorite films - American Graffiti, Star Wars77, & all four Indiana Jones films. He's given me so much more than he's kept from me.

He doesn't seem to sweat the intense passion of what must be millions of fans. I guess you have to let go to a certain extent once your creation becomes a permanent part of pop culture. Two quotes from the interview jumped out at me;

"It's fiction...you can either like it or not like it"

"I thought it was going to be one little movie"

Anyway, an interesting interview and Stewart is funny at the beginning.

Stewart was funny all the way through...

"My son's favorite Star Wars film is 'The Phantom Menace' and I keep telling him 'No, it's not'."

"That'll be the title of your autobiography - 'George Lucas: Ehhhh, whadaya gonna do?"

Well, you don't *need* an HD capable system.  I have a PS3 with a 20" Toshiba analog SDTV, and I've already stopped buying DVDs in favor of Blu-Rays.  (Though to be fair, I've more or less stopped buying movies altogether in favor of converting my library-borrowed or Netflix-borrowed discs into MKVs that I can play with my Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ Media Player ... )

What do you think of the FreeAgent Theater?  I've been looking at the WD TV Live but haven't bought anything yet.  Do you know how they compare?  What made you go with that one?

BTW, George Lucas is set to appear in an interview on the very U.S. Popular show, The Daily Show. just.. an interview XD

Just watched it. Nothing new

I've just watched Daily Show interview with GL.

I thought it was really sad how he said "Its just a work of fiction". What a clumsy and coward attempt to avoid discussion.

I'd like to hear him say Shakespeare's Hamlet is just a work of fiction. This is just BS. It's not just about entertainment and catching of certain age groups, there's also a cultural impact and innate meaning to things.

But I guess he just doesn't want to talk about it. Very superficial.

PS: Sorry for Off topic... needed to vent.

Jon Stewart: "My son's favorite Star Wars movie is 'The Phantom Menace', and I keep telling him 'No, it's not'."

The last hulk was based more on the ultimate line than the original too.  But seeing as ang lee's was not faithful either that film was seen as decent because it had that guy from fight club, lol.

When the Ang Lee Hulk came out, everyone was crying "too much talking, not enough action".  When the Ed Norton Hulk came out, everyone as crying "too much action, not enough character development".

Ya can't win.
