Need info about IEV Turboscan T2000
Time
Wait, wouldn't using the s-video in on the scaler bypass the comb filter and noise reduction??

"Having a good comb filter in a doubler/multiplier is only important if you are feeding it a composite video signal. Y/C or YCrCb cables bypass the comb filter, so for most quality video sources, the comb filter in the doubler/multiplier will not be an issue."

What this basically does is take an interlaced video input and converts it to progressive (they use the term IDTV - Improved Definition Television, not to be confused with the current usage of that acronym to mean integrated digital television). The progressive signal is output as RGB through VGA or BNC connectors, for connection to a monitor, projector or other progressive display.

I can't see it would be much use for capturing, because your All-in-Wonder card doesn't have an RGB input.

The T-2000 has an s-video output which I can run into my AIW card.

If it doesn't work, I will just use it to watch it on my 42" Sony HDTV that has RGB inputs.

Anybody have any info about this line doubler/de-interlacer?
I just bought one off of ebay.
I could only find info about the IEV T-1500 using google search.

I'm going to have my laserdisc and also vcr hooked up to it then going to my ATI-9600XT All in wonder card to capture the video. I'm mostly going to be doing Laserdisc to DVD conversions of movies that never made it to DVD.

Is this a good doubler/de-interlacer. I read all the reviews on the IEV T-1500 and seems like that is a good model. The IEV T-2000 looks similiar but has more inputs.

Here is info about the T-1500

Here is the only info I can find about the T-2000 from http://www.baudline.com/erik/ht/fp_search.html

IEV TurboScan T-2000 doubler
composite inputs: 3
s-video inputs: 3
YCrCb inputs: 1
RGB: 1

Please mind, that the video will be PAL, have a TV station logo and german audio only!

EDIT
Forgot to mention that this recording does not have the end credits. German tv stations cut them out

any update on this video?

Help: looking for... Reckless (1984 - Aidan Quinn)
Time
I didnt' get the one that was on ebay because I was away from my house when the auction ended. Somebody outbid me by my highest bid of $20

Does anybody else know where I can buy this laserdisc??
I'm going to contact the person who won the auction and see if he will be willing to do a laserdisc to dvd capture for me and send me a disc; then I would put together a nice menu and maybe a few extras and then share out.

HD ? i'm not really into this ! What is a HD ?

HD = High Definition
HDTV format .ts (transport stream) files

I would up this using BT but my upload speed is extremely slow.
I am sending the Dual Layer DVD PIF (Pass It Forward or Pay it Forward) to another user on here (mk1277) and maybe he could do the same for you.

Nope all I listed in the thread was info about the original HD .TS files that were uploaded to usenet along time ago (not by me) and was willing to mail out the dvd's that contained the original rar and par files.

Pioneer CLD-1010 Laserdisc help

Most laserdiscs have digital audio tracks; these are CD-quality 44.1kHz uncompressed PCM. Laserdiscs can also carry an analogue track; some discs use this track for commentaries (later a system was devised allowing modulated AC-3 to be stored on the analogue track). Early discs had analogue tracks only.

It sounds like your player can reproduce the digital track fine but is not so good at playing the analogue track. This is not really a problem unless you own some early analogue-only discs, or want commentaries with higher quality audio reproduction.

(There should be a button on the remote to switch between analogue and digital audio tracks.)

Thanks. That makes much more sense now about the audio tracks on the laserdiscs.
I just found a bnc to svideo adapter and going to order it and see how the picture quality is.

Pioneer CLD-1010 Laserdisc help
Time
I recently won a Pioneer CLD-1010 laserdisc player on ebay for pretty cheap.
I read the review of it here
http://www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk/laserdisc_archive/pioneer/pioneer_cld-1010/pioneer_cld-1010.htm

It says that it has good video quality, but what confuses me is the part where they talk about the audio output.
"Digital Audio reproduction is superb, and the 2X over sampling digital filter gives a clean, clear high-end, with none of the phase shift of Pioneers earlier players that incorporated brick wall analog filters. With each successive generation of Pioneer LaserDisc player, the analog FM audio seems to get worse. The sound is pumped in the midrange, giving voices and music a "cardboard" or "boxy" quality. Extreme treble is rolled off substantially, making it sound like bad FM radio. Deep bass is also noticeably absent, with the upper bass range, 80 Hz or so, emphasized. Voices take on a chesty character. This applies even to modern, CX encoded soundtracks. When listening to an audio commentary popular on many disc, the audio is acceptable."

I know that the player doesn't have an optical output but what kind of digital audio output is it talking about in that paragraph? Digital rca outputs or some sort of coax digital output? It says that the digital audio reproduction is superb, that then and mentions that the analog out sounds like crap.
I can't seem to find a picture on the web of the back of the laserdisc player, so that I can see what kind of output connections that it has.
If all else fails, I will just have to wait until it gets shipped to me.
