Because I capture in mono, I get 3 images per frame, a Red, Blue and Green image. These then have to be combined to make a single colour image.

I also do 3 captures and average them to remove CCD noise etc. and then an extra capture underexposed and another overexposed in case it is required. That all takes a while.

But yes, I will be selling the print when I have squeezed everything I can out of it.

I'm so wishing for a blu-ray release now! (Without the new color timing style seen in Terminator and Aliens of course.)

The color timing is pretty different in those two HD broadcasts, and the cropping too.

@poita: Thanks! While we've talked a bit here and there about how it was done, we haven't revealed everything because we thought it was better to finish the project and release it before revealing the full avisynth scripts.

Hi and Thank you for the great post, ABC and I have read your comments and we both wish you the best, it is really cool that some of these old projects we did together are still being enjoyed, ABC and I really had a lot of fun working together on this one and it really turned out great! he is currently working with us, Team Blu on yet another project and he has done some tremendous work on it, and a new 2 disc CD Set will be included with this project, however this project is not Star Wars related lol.

Nope, no estimate on ESB and ROTJ since there is no way to tell how long it will take to clean up the bad frames for those. The SE's will be pretty easy though since they're only getting basic color correction and upscale. The GOUT gets the full treatment so that's why it's so hard to tell when it will be ready. We're also finishing two sideprojects we've been working on, then we can probably work only with Star Wars and maybe things will start moving a bit faster.

Update! Make sure to check myspleen because DJ has encoded previews for both Star Wars theatrical and 97 SE which he will upload soon. These new previews have the final color timing and fixes.

Since they're just previews, they will be in quite low bitrate, so expect to see a few compression artefacts here and there, especially in the 97 SE since that one's based on an already compressed digital TV broadcast.

Compression aside, these will give you an idea of what to expect when we release these very soon.

I like it! But if I'd make a T-shirt of it myself, I'd make it bigger so it covers more of the front of the shirt.

Nice results! I like how the dark shot of the fighting ring got adapted to the DVD look. The DVD having crushed shadow detail in that shot but the corrected shot has the same colors but without the crushed blacks.

The video itself is finished. But since DJ found out that his method of upsampling and synching the lossless LD-audio wasn't perfect, he had to redo it.

We're also waiting for a friend of his to finish a special audio track which we'll be including if all turns out the way we want it. It will be a brand new stereo mix, which will use the LD mono as center and the music in stereo. DJ is also experimenting on adding an LFE channel to it, so everyone with surround systems can get that extra bass out of it.

I'd like to request the highest possible resolution theatrical poster scans from all three films, both original and SE, to be able to use to create some new cover art for my and DJ's projects.

So if anyone would share them, even if only over pm I'd be very grateful.

I'm probably not the right guy to ask but DJ said a couple audiophile friends of his has told him that the upsampling came out best when he used the software Izotope RX 2 with no dithering or noise shaping or anything applied.

dark_jedi wanted me to tell you guys that his LD-sourced audio will be redone and synched again later, because some recent discoveries of ours showed that his old method of upsampling and synching audio wasn't the best possible.

Anyway, no news yet but we're trying to finish all the 4 projects we have going on, so we can finally release them all.

Now that I think of it, I've heard of some WD external drives that had some faulty power cables. No idea if it can be related to this but you might wanna unplug it and replug it and see if anything happens. The drive sure wouldn't work without power.
