Well, considering I thought National Treasure was crappy too, I guess I hold them on pretty much the same level.

Oddly enough, both movies involved the Knights Templar. Is it some kind of unwritten rule that all movies involving the Knights Templar have to suck or something?
Last Crusade didn't suck.

Make your voices heard! (again) - re the 2006 GOUT DVD being in letterbox format
Time
I'm thinking of adding a P.S to my letter - Remember limited edition 'Executor' boxset (which I own, BTW) you released in 1995? That was a quality release that treated the movies with the respect they deserve. I know Lucasfilm is capable.

What I'd really like to say is - Please go out and buy a copy of the extended editions of LOTR and see how it should be done.

3PO: If only you had attached my legs, I wouldn't be in this ridiculous position.

Han: What's going on...buddy?

Lando: You're being put into carbon freeze.

Boba Fett: What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a lot to me.

Vader: The Empire will compensate you if he dies. Put him in!

(Before you all yell at me, I'm not skipping a scene - it's just that Luke's arrival on Cloud city has no dialogue)

Yeah I read Angels and Demons first sophomore year of high school and had to do a presentation on it for English. I didn't even know he had a book before it or after it and it was right before The Da Vinci Code mania blew open. A part of me preferred it (the nerd side) because it had lots more to do with insanely cool theories and facts revolving around science as well as awesome the religion parts of it. That and it had the very interesting ambigrams. A good fun read.

BTW....the movie is beautiful. To each his own but seriously....if you haven't read the book, I doubt you'll very much enjoy the movie. That and if all you are looking for is a smarter National Treasure. THIS IS NOT AN ACTION/THRILLER. It's dialogue driven. I'd say mystery is it's genre. Thanks Jarhead, you have restored my interest in the film. I'm going to see it tonight at the one and only Jamestown theater, AKA the 'Buffalo Theater'. Sheesh.

EDIT: I have just been informed by the missus that it's actually called the Bison Theater. My Bad.

Then obviously the trailers are trying to lure in the summer blockbuster crowd.
A misrepresentational trailer? Never.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking - a slightly better National Treasure starring Tom Hanks.

If only this book had been written 15 years ago - Harrison Ford would have been perfect. Or maybe George Clooney. I can even see Hugh Jackman in the role. But Tom Hanks? I love him, but he's not Robert Langdon.

Has anyone here read Angels and Demons? I read it before Da Vinci and preferred it.

Han: The ship is almost finished. Two or Three more things and we're in great shape.

Leia: The sooner the better. Something's wrong here. No one has seen or knows anything about Threepio. He's been gone too long to have gotten lost.

Han: Relax. I'll talk to Lando and see what I can find out.

Leia: I don't trust Lando.

Han: Well, I don't trust him, either. But he is my friend. Besides, we'll soon be gone.

Leia: And then you're as good as gone, aren't you?

Who is the loser who makes these crappy covers for Lucasfilm? He would have certainly flunked a basic photoshop course and he has no artistic eye.
Tell me about it.
