I received the same standard form e-mail (mine was from 'John Singh') and here's how I replied (which I must admit I borrowed from a classic quote made by Jay sometime last week):
Thanks for nothing. Excuse me while I go watch Return of the King.

I remember back in the days of NES, Star Wars was 49.99 GBP (no pound sign on this US keyboard). 49.99 in the late 80s!! I never did get that game because I could never afford it. Hell, I couldn't even afford it today for 49.99. Computer games are a rip off. Best to wait a few months for when they release the titles on their platinum series or whatever it's called.

It's a shitty 1970s televisual mistake. That's all it is. You can't make excuses for it's crapness in order to make it fit into Star Wars continuity - it's just crap.

I'm sure something like that will happen, but it will be in many, many, years, when Star Wars is a very old film (I'm talking like, 75 years old - a relic of a moviemaking age long-gone, just like Gone with the Wind).

The middle of nowhere, North Dakota, USA:

This photo is not staged - I was just walking past someone's house (again, in North Dakota) and this was outside:

My wife's grandpa has a whole load of old cars on his land, so I took some pictures:

The last one was my Father In Law's car. Pretty cool, huh?
He also had this old abandoned wagon on a his land, which had me fantasising about cowboys and Indians for a good ten minutes:

This picture of Big Ben was taken from the roof of the Houses of Parliament in London. As some of you know, I worked for the government in London, and I had a friend who managed to get me inside the Houses of Parliament. Very cool day:

the view from the roof of the houses of parliament:

Houses of Parliament:

Stonehenge:

An old London bus:

I took this in the studio when I was recording, and I think it's a pretty cool shot (shame about the graniness):

The Falcon (which I sadly no longer own because I moved to the States). I still think about her often:

When I come here, everyone talks about how weak Jedi was in comparison to the others and how much ESB is the greatest!
Same here. But the general movie going public are stupid, and seeing as my friends and I were little kids when ROTJ came out (babies actually), it's no surprise most of them view it fondly - it's Star Wars first big step into kid's film territory (we all know how that ended up...)Why did I have a feeling this movie was going to a problem for most of the people here. Anyway...
3PO: Of course I'm worried. And you should be, too. Lando Calrissian and poor Chewbacca never returned from this awful place.
Artoo: Beeeep
3PO: Don't be so sure. If I told you half the things I've heard about this Jabba the Hutt, You'd probably short-circuit.

By the way, may I ask your age? Lucas seems to think it's only the over 25s who can appreciate the OOT (Actually, he made that stupid statement a couple of years ago now, so I guess it's only the over 27s, which means apparently I am incapable of preferring the OOT to the crappy SEs. I was definitely under 25 when he made that claim, and remember thinking 'you crazeee').

BTW Ric, I have been to Nottingham and Sherwood Forest and all the museums and exhibitions and stuff, and Robin Hood did exist, but not in the way he is popularly portrayed. What I mean is there was a guy (probably not even called Robin) who the legend is very, very loosely based on, just like there was a King Arthur, but he didn't neccesarily kick it with a wizard called Merlin, and he probably didn't become King by pulling a sword from a Stone (but the Magna Carta, for example, is real. It's a really old document that sets out some laws (kinda like England's version of the constitution, but only dealing with certain issues rather than the entire law of the land - I've seen it).

I don't think this picks up where Smallville left off HLF, it picks up where the second Christopher Reeves movie left off.since this superman movie is suppose to pick up where smallville left off, does that mean that smallville is over. because they never said it was the series finale, just the season. i can't wait for this movie to come out though, i think it will be good. even if it is a little bit sappy.

There's a scene where Worf, Miles and Julian are in a bar and they see those old human-looking Klingons. Miles and Julian give Worf a look like "those are Klingons? What happened?!" Worf's explanation was a simple line about not talking about that with outsiders.
I never saw that, but that is kinda cool. That kind of retcon I think is ok - acknowledging a continuity flaw in a jokey way but still not really explaining it. But like you said, they went and tried to properly expalin it in Enterprise and it all went pear-shaped.One retcon thing I did like, however, was on the show Deep Space Nine, where the crew went back in time to the first Enterprise. There's also homo sapiens and Sequoiadendron giganteum, along with various other grasses, flowering plants, trees, etc. There's no particular reason to believe that anatidae (or a similar family with enough morphological similarity that "duck" adequately translates whatever name they bear in Galactic Basic) don't exist anywhere in the known Star Wars galaxy. I'd certainly expect them to have evolved on at least one of the thousand-thousand worlds that make up the Empire, along with one of everything else that we know here on Earth.
