Or it could just be one of many continuity errors...

As for what is he doing in that egg thing, I tend to go for the meditation idea, although the idea of the egg also being a sort of life support booth works too. Why can't it be both - he's meditating in a life support booth. As for why they had that scene in the movie, I'll go with Kersh's explanation, but Lucas' makes sense too. You have to remember that back in 1980, nobody really knew a whole lot about Vader. I suppose there could have been one or 2 people in the audience who thought he was a robot (and therefore his 'I am you father' speech would have seemed a bit odd).

Who Would Win?

So, Manson wins on the grounds that he is a real serial killer rather than a figment of somebody's imagination.

We all saw how badass Johnny 5 was against the other Nova robots, who were supposedly deadly War Machines. But how would America's first robotic citizen fair against a T-800 Terminator? Would a vast knowledge of the Marx Bros. movies be enough to survive and conquer?

For this battle I propose that Johnny 5 is allowed his shoulder-mounted laser, while the T-800, fresh from a time portal, will have no weapons (or clothes).

P.S Blaine Vs Copperfield - Things to consider: Girlfriends, Mystique, Biggest stunt/trick.

The legendary "Starkiller Ranch" Thread

I like the idea of the whole finale of ROTJ being an assasination, and a second death star is pretty lame. Maybe you could have the final Vader/Emperor/Luke battle in a windowless room to eliminate the need to composite coruscant outside. As somebody has already said, watching a space battle miles overhead from a window in a room in a city is impossible anyway. Perhaps the Emperor could help Luke to watch the battle via the force (implanting images/allowing Luke to 'see' through him). How the hell you would make it clear what is happening is beyond me though - Just throwing some ideas out.

I must admit that, while it's not to my taste, Mariah has a good voice. I mean, I don't like here voice, but there's no denying she has one. What sucked though was her, as a person. I'm sure she's a nice lady if you knew her, but on stage she came across as a self important primadonna. Her whole act was so contrived and cheesy, and I think she forgot that Live 8 was about raising awareness of the situation in Africa - it wasn't 'hey look at me I'm Mariah' day.

Plus I was waiting for Paul McCartney, The Who and Pink Floyd, so I just wanted her to be done.

That's not true at all and I can only assume by that comment that you've either never been to Southern California or are very stuck in the ways of wherever it is you're from (neither of which are your fault, of course, but you might want to try widening your horizons and opening your mind). I've spent lots of time in Los Angeles and that is where I'm moving to. I like the people there. People in the midwest seem to think people from the west coast, especially California, are all weirdos, but I think it's them and their insular ways that are weird.

HLF - I also hate pollen and dust. They are killing me right now.

Dreams - my brother and I both had the same recurring dream that we were being chased through a park by a King/Donkey Kong type ape. The dream entailed my brother and I plus our Parents sharing a picnic in a park when this ape comes tearing out from the trees and starts chasing us. The rest of the dream is just the monkey chasing us (it's like a cartoon where the background just keeps repeating and the characters are running on the spot.

Definitely BBC News - they've been around since the early days of TV, the British media are not as sensationalist as their American counterparts, and the BBC helped win the second world war.

I am also not happy with the resolution of the battle of the magical Davids and I am still pondering this intriguing question.

Why all the negative coments about george lucas?
Time
Somebody mentioned 'Auteur' theory. Seeing as Lucas didn't direct Empire or Jedi, it's a moot point. Why all the negative comments about Lucas? Because he's an insane, contradictory, lying bell-end, that's why. He directed one good movie (2 if you count American Grafitti) and he seems intent on ruining that one.

I understand that there are elements of Star Wars he doesn't like and wants to change. TheBattle of Yavin probably didn't look as cool and crazy as he intended. The blob under the landspeeder and the stationary Dewback do look crap. I myself am an artist, and I totally understand his desire and urge to keep fiddling and fixing. But the originals were released and embraced by many, and to deny that and claim they no longer exist is madness. George Lucas could have gone down in history as a great, but he's fast becoming a joke. I hear what you're saying when you defend him, but it's gone too far. The original trilogy as Bonus Material? For Fuck Sake!!
