The Other side of the 30th Anniversary

CGI, 3D and all that other shit is of no interest or use to me. What I want is a good story. I'm currently listening to the Star Wars Radio Dramas, which are just audio, no picture whatsoever, 3D or otherwise, and they are supremely entertaining. Why? Good characters, script and story development. Lucas can do whatever he wants to Star Wars - if he keeps changing the story for the worse (Greedo shooting first, etc) all the effects in the world won't do any good. Wake up George, for fuck sake!!

Dave is promoting "Strummin' With The Devil." It's a bluegrass tribute album to Van Halen. (No Van Hagar.) Dave was asked to sing on two songs on the album. (Jump and Jamie's Cryin') Dave's short hair was part of a makeover that was done when he did some photoshoots for Tommy Hilfiger. In my opinion it looked a lot better than his bleach blond long hair that didn't suit him. His performance with the band, to me, showed a very mature DLR. The music is bluegrass, so Dave was dressed appropriately (yellow plaid shirt, blue jeans). The main thing that got me about the performance is that the album (and music) was about the musicians, and Dave featured them prominently. When you looked at Dave, he was *itching* to do bust a move. He was bouncing in place thinking, "Would just one roundhouse hurt?" (Yes, he can still jump off the drum riser.) But again, it wasn't about Dave, he remembered that, and he didn't do it. Another point, did you notice that he went OFF CAMERA when the solos started playing? Dave always gives props, always had.

Dave's a class act. We're just waiting for EVH to wake up and take notice.

BTW, Dave's on Craig Ferguson tonight. (Friday the 8th.)
Sounds great. Shame Eddie's not involved. EVH playing acoustic bluegrass would be something to see.

A friend of mine in L.A. is a doorman at a strip joint, and he's friends with DLR - Dave was...erm...visiting the strip club while this guy was working, and they hit it off. I haven't met him but I hope to.

My brother manages a Blockbuster, but I still think they suck. My brother and his co-workers are an exception, because they all know their stuff and are every helpful, but usually in Blockbuster you get some monkey who knows nothing about films. Also, Blockbuster hardly ever stock older movies. The Blockbuster in Jamestown, North Dakota is an exception though - they have lots of older movies, probably because the town is full of hillbillys so Blockbuster HQ doesn't give a shit about them, but as a result it's actually the best Blockbuser I've ever been in. I recently went to rent Superman 1 but I wanted the DVD and they didn't have it, so the manager called a rival video store in town for me and they had it so I went and got it from there - now that's service.

I love it. The Original Films dont' exist, yet now they are bundling the trilogy with a Han Shot First bubblegum card at the official site.

Lucas is a whore.
For Fuck Sake!! He just keeps getting worse. Lucasfilm stealing the Hans hot first slogan is really pissing me off. Do they think it's cute or cool? Cause it's not. It's infuriating.

Oh, yeah, YIYF, did you ever find that tibi Jedi line I mentioned before?
All my copies of the Star Wars movies are in a box in England waiting to be shipped to L.A. Unless I crack and buy the Septemebr release, I'll have to wait till I'm settled in a house or apartment and my parents ship my stuff over before I can experience 'Tibi Jedi'.

3PO: Your Royal Highness.

Leia: But these are my friends. Threepio, tell them they must be set free.

Bear in mind, when we do go to the new software and Jay sets it so only one person can have an avatar, I will be politely requesting sole possession of my persona. Otherwise, I'm going Trandoshan on you.
I'm hoping to be the only one using the Yoda avatar too. Lots of Yoda Avatar-using Newbies running around the site confusing me at the moment.
