Superman has a kid?!
I said it before: "Surgeon General's Warning: Sex Causes Children"
Well, yes, but what I meant was, what do you guys think of the idea of introducing a super-child?

Anybody catch who the old lady that Lex scammed was?
I'd be lying if I said I recognised her, but I heard that the woman who played Lois in the 50s TV show was in Superman Returns, so I'm asssuming that was her? While we're on the subject of the old lady, a lot of people aren't happy with the way Lex's release was explained, and think it's pretty weak to say a serial criminal of that calibre would be released simply because Superman wasn't around to testify, but didn't the old woman at the satrt say that she had somehow helped Lex get out of jail? We don't know how, but there may be more to the story than 'Superman didn't show in court'. Again, it would have been nice to get more detail, but I can live with it.

In the weeks leading up to the battle of the bands, Oxnar studied and mastered every major language on Earth (he's a fast learner). In between language study, Oxnar chuckled to himself about all the I.O.Us he had written to fund the battle of the bands, which, being evil, he never intended to honor.

Finally the Battle of the Bands arrived...

And where does he get that spaceship from? Did he just make it? Since kryptonian crystals were such a big part of the film, I assumed he 'grew' it from crystals, either on earth or on Krypton (using his powers to get there but needing a ship to get back. How he survived on a dead rock millions of miles away in space I have no idea.

What are these prequel comics you speak of Greencapt?

I agree that all the background details - Lex's release, Superman's departure, etc should have been explained a bit more, but I can let it slide.

And I don't think this was a batman-esque dark emotional Superman. He was just upset that the love of his life was banging Cyclops from X-Men. Understandable really. But when it came to the crunch he still threw aside his personal issues and saved the world.

The only thing I never really bought into or liked was Kate Bosworth as Lois.

Isn't there already a thread like this?
No, there's a review thread. This is a place to nitpick/praise the film without spoiling it for people who haven't seen it yet.

They are extremely scratch prone. I was uber-careful with mine, and small scratches still snuck onto it, so now I have plastic covering both the front and back, a rubber 'glove' and a case. As a result my ipod is *almost* perfect. The video ipod actually comes with a little slip case, but it's pretty useless because it has no hole for the screen or controls.

This thread is for people who have seen the movie and want to discuss it. There will be spoilers, so if you haven't seen it yet, stay away.

So.....

Superman has a kid?!

And why does his kid look about 7 when he's supposedly been gone for only 5 years?

And why does Superman get beaten senseless by Lex and his cronies on the Kryptonite island, but about 20 minutes later he is able to through[/] the island, pick it up and fly into space with it? Sure, it landed him in hospital, but he shouldn't have even been able to lift that thing, let alone fly.

I have to say though, I'm just nitpicking. All in all I loved the film.

Word of a ten year old Shirly Temple intent on spilling their blood quickly reached Mojo and Reallife (who at this point were on tour in Japan to promote their new album 'pass the peanuts'). Mojo, no stranger to death threats from maniacal fans, was understandably scared and decided to triple his bodyguard count. Reallife, on the other hand, was not concerned because, being a soul inhabiting demon, he had no blood.

SUPERMAN RETURNS REVIEW

I didn't have a problem with Superman's suit. The red could have been a little less brown, and I'm not really sure how he hides those boots under his Clark Kent clothes, but then again how would he hide the cape too? It's a movie!! Besides, during a Daily Planet meeting, Perry White even says 'is that a new suit?' and tells his Fashion editor to get on the story, which I thought was a nice touch. At least in this film we actually see Clark remove his clothes to reveal the suit ubderneath, instead of just 'fading' into it like in the old movies.

I thought Superman looked pretty damn cool in this film.

I agree. But when you get people arguing over whether or not the Evolution is real or whether or not gays are evil then it's not such a good thing anymore. Like I said, I feel that the message has been 'missed' by many, and twisted into a set of rules and 'morals' which can't possibly be wrong because the bible says so. The messages and lessons of the bible are a fantastic example to people on how to be nice to eachother and have a good, loving world, but it can also be abused (not neccesarily on purpose).

So they went to where they thought the necklace was buried and realised it wasn't there. Google Earth had failed them. Frustrated, Mojo done a handstand (as he always does in times of frustration because it relaxes him), which caused reallife to cry out 'THERE IT IS!!'

Mojo looked at where reallife was pointing. In the handstand position, the M on Mojo's t-shirt became a W!! The necklace was INSIDE Mojo!!
