I can't believe some of what I just read.

Actually, yes I can.

Hahahaha, that's exactly what I was thinking. Honestly YIYF, I'm glad I've finally found someone at this forum who's on the same page as me.

Stick with me, kid

Because of the recent 'gay marriage' laws that have come into effect in the UK, there's been a lot of discussion of how increased acceptance of homosexuality will affect the moral fibre of society. Personally, the only problem I have with Brokeback Mountain is it's directed by the hugely overated Ang Lee, and Gay people are fine by me - I don't really get how a man can find another man attractive, but I certainly don't find it 'disgusting' or 'offensive', just different. However, I do understand Gundark's concerns, and am glad that he is able to voice them in a considered and eloquent manner instead of 'The only good Gay Cowboy is a dead Gay Cowboy and when that Gay cowboy is dead, he's gonna burn in gay hell'.

I am also concerned with the way society is heading, but I think gays and this movie are the least of our worries (plus I happen to like both Jake Gyllenhal and Heath Ledger as actors).

P.S Seeing as everyone here seems to have been smoking crack when they watched the new King Kong and thought it was excellent, I take it none of you have a problem with love between a woman and a 50ft ape?

I was a huge X-Files fan but then I went off it for a bit for the reasons you guys mention. But then one week I watched every episode in order right up to whatver episode was the current one at the time and then got back into it. For me, the whole Mulder missing and the T-100 replacing him actually worked and I really enjoyed it. If you can, I recommens watching every episode on DVD in order over a period of a year or so, maybe one episode every couple of days. There are of course a few dud episodes but all in all, I think you will be satisfied.

Why then does Luke have a force connection with her in ESB, which was the same film that had Leia kissing Luke and (in a cut scene) they had a passionate kiss?

We've been through this countless times.

Who says it's a force connection? Since when does a jedi (or trainee jedi) require a connection with a certain person in order to communicate with them through the force? Siblings or not, Luke and Leia are close. Who else was he gonna reach out to on the falcon to save him? Threepio? Nope. Lando who he's never even met? Nope. Chewie? Well, maybe, but surely Leia's the first choice. Stop making excuses for Lucas (and stop belive the excuses he's given to you)

Some day I hope to

Oh right, I see what we're doing here. I just thought Sean started a thread to talk about John Lennon (which would have been fine by me).

OK, some day I hope to... get my damn demo finished and become a professional, money-earning musician and/or be the head of an animation company.

Travelling through time would also be pretty cool.

Don't ever let anyone tell you the Beatles are overrated and not as influential as everyone makes out - They invented the goddam rock on sign, for god sake. No further proof is needed. Ever.

Anyway, back on topic - This is post number 1492 for me, The year Columbus made the Harry Potter films.
I'm so close to 1500 posts it hurts.

Yeah, you're right, but why didn't he at least stick to the aspects of that backstory that had already been hinted at by characters such as Yoda and Obi-Wan in the OT? The fact is that Lucas basically forgot the true heart and spirit of his own creation, gave into current trends and fads, had one eye on marketing at all times and, basically in my opinion went insane.

Good luck... you're gonna need it.
One more thing to add to the 'better get used to it' list - incessant, often repetitive posts by AWK

Here in England the yellow light is basically just a warning that red is on it's way so maybe you might want to slow down or stop, although I normally follow Ric's advice. We also have yellow after red to tell you it's about to turn green, so start your engines, put it in gear and get ready to go.
