Galaxy of Adventures - animated ESB shorts edited together (RT 9 min 29 sec) (Released)
Time

Upon watching the Galaxy of Adventures animated shorts on the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel for the umpteenth time, I thought that since there are a handful of Empire Strikes Back shorts (or at least contain an animated rendition of a scene from ESB), there should be enough to make a mini-movie.
Even if you’ve already seen all of the Galaxy of Adventures shorts, I find that seeing it all pieced together makes for a quick and fun watch. Request a link in the comments or PM me.
(Despite the fact that you can easily find all of the free shorts on YouTube, I don’t want to post a link here out in the open because I already tried uploading this edit on YouTube, and it was instantly copyrighted claimed for containing Galaxy of Adventures footage.)

Edit: I just made a new version that adds Han rescuing Luke on Hoth. I had to slow down the footage of the close up of Vader saying “Set your course for the Hoth system.”, so I could do a wipe transition to Han riding the tauntaun. I also had to slow down the whole bit of Han rescuing Luke, since the bit is over within just a few seconds. The last thing I had to do was replace the music and the sound effects in that short clip.

And by the way: I did not remove the narration. I know some people might not like the narration, but personally, I’m ok with the narration. I actually kinda enjoy it, given that Dante Basco (Freakin’ Zuko) and Tom Kane (from Clone Wars!) are the ones narrating, and some of it kinda helps people stay on track with what’s going on in the short since everything is moving very fast, and the fact that we don’t get all the information we need in order to know what’s going on. (I know that everyone watching this knows what’s going on, because we’ve all seen ESB, but I’m just thinking within the confines of this short.) But I understand how other people would be annoyed. I may continue to work on it later and remove the narration if I have the urge to do so.
I just wanted to combine everything into one short movie, and I did just that. What I really want now is to continue working on V2 of my “Reimagined” edit of A New Hope.

Pro Audio Engineer looking to get involved!<br>
Time

This is awesome that you want to help! Your assistance is very welcomed. 😁
I have a question: How do you replicate the ‘classic’ style of sound recording in the OT, more specifically A New Hope? There’s an apparent compressed sort-of sound to everything. I don’t know if that makes sense.
I have both Davinci Resolve 17 Studio and Audacity. I’ve looked up how to make something sound like an old recording in Audacity, but it’s not exactly what I’m looking for (The tutorials are for making things sound like an old radio). I don’t know if you are perhaps familiar with either program, or some other program that I can accomplish what I’m wanting?

Can I have a link to your latest, biggest New Hope Reimagined? I’m doing a chronological watch and am just finishing Rebels so your edit should be perfect for my next vid (as long as it is SDR since I do not have an HDR display). Thanks!

It’s all SDR! I just have it in 3 qualities, is all.
The links have been sent to you! And I think it’s perfect for a chronology watch! I didn’t (and still won’t) have anything in my edit that absolutely breaks canon. With that, I hope you enjoy my edit! 😁

Blade Runner 2049 the Joi-less edit (I removed Joi entirely to trim the run-time) (Released)
Time

I haven’t seen Blade Runner 2049. I hear it’s an amazing sequel. I do wonder though, should I watch this edit first (despite it making the movie worse), just for the heck of it? And to give a different perspective on this edit? What do you think?
Of course I would view the actual movie sometime after viewing this edit if I were to watch the edit.

Looks like with Temuera Morrison’s lines as Boba Fett should be reinserted based on the new Mandalorian season. Is Adywan aware of this and will a revision be made on ‘Revisited’?

I’m confused. Doesn’t Revisited use Morrison? Or do I have an outdated version?

ESB:R uses Jason Wingreen, the original voice actor for Boba Fett (before the special editions’ changes).
You can look up a comparison between Jason and Temuera on YouTube.

This seems like a fun concept, editing together all the reinterpretations to make it look and flow like a modern film. My only advice would be maybe use the original crawl instead of the Episode IV one? I feel like the cold open intro makes it feel more like a standalone film. The Episode IV subtitle is a little jarring after that opening. The 1977 crawl would flow much better right after it I think.

Keep up the good work though, this is a very fun and interesting one indeed.

Thank you! I was actually thinking exactly what you said. I will definitely have the original, 1977 crawl in V2.

Y’know how I said I don’t know how I’d be able to change Obi-Wan’s skin color from greyish to his normal skin color? Well… Davinci Resolve 17 just came out and there’s a new masking feature where you can isolate someone’s skin and change the color of it without changing the color of the background. Great timing for me! And also, there’s a new tab where you can add digital effects.

Do you plan on editing ESB and RotJ?

I really love Adywan’s ESB Revisited and I think that’s a perfect edit of ESB. The only thing I would change in his edit right now would be Boba Fett’s voice because he edited Jason Wingreen’s voice back into the movie. (Jason Wingreen was the original voice of Boba Fett.) I would replace that voice with the SE version, which is Temuera Morrison’s voice (just for the sake of canon).

However, that’s not really much impetus for an edit. I’ll do a reimagined edit of ESB:R when FXitinpost releases their Cloud City Reimagined fight. I’m waiting until then because I would need to see what the aesthetic of the fight looks like, so I have something to go off of when making the movie match up to the reimagined footage.

And as for RotJ, I haven’t thought about it. I do really like the deleted scenes of Moff Jerjerrod, and it’d be cool to find a way to edit them into the movie (and make it work). Though, I’m sure someone has done that already.

Since you are adding lens flares, and considering how SC38 has better-looking visual effects than 99% of ANH, do you plan on editing ANH to improve the visual effects?

I think mostly what I would need to do would be make Luke’s/Anakin’s lightsaber look more modern (like Adywan did), perhaps add burn marks on the walls where blaster fire hit (or ricocheted), and add some particle effects in various spots. I replaced FXitinpost’s non-reimagined footage with Hal’s footage, so I don’t think I’ll have to make the blaster bolts bolder and thicker. I don’t want to have to do more work if I can avoid it.
Though, I’ll definitely need to change the blaster bolts’ look if I decide to include the Rogue One Vader hallway scene in V2.

This sounds like an awesome project and like a lot of hard work! Thank you! I would love to take a look at it if you would be so kind to share the link.

And it sure was a lot of hard work, especially since I’m not that experienced! Lol. I only started getting into video editing earlier this year.

I really want to take a class on Davinci Resolve (the program I’ve used for V1.1 and V1.1.1) to improve my skills (particularly my color grading and color correcting skills) for this edit. I’m really enjoying all the features this program has.

For V2, I’m going to experiement with the Foley tools/function in Davinci Resolve because I want to replace all the sounds in SC 38 Reimagined with sounds from the OT. I will be using very little (if not, none) of the sounds in SC 38 Reimagined. That means different music as well.

I also will be adding lens flares to the entire movie (tastefully, and not how J.J. Ambrams did it for Star Trek), since I can’t imagine myself editing all of the lens flares out in SC 38 Reimagined frame-by-frame in Photoshop. Also, it’ll be another great learning experience. 😊
