Are those really the original character miniatures standing atop the Sail Barge transport? I've seen better likenesses on action figures tbh...

Yep, that's one of the original Skiff models. Two were built. One size at 81x46x30cm and a smaller 40x10x14cm.

Here'a another picture I took closer up.

We had Star Wars Weekly so the film adaptation was 12 issues in marvelous monochrome and most stories when on for about that length.

Still wish I had the X-Wing and TIE Fighter that came with issues 1 and 2. Issue #3 has the two page picture drawing of the Death Star surface that you could do battle over. I upgraded to colour when the two large size Marvel Treasury Editions came out at 50p each. The UK Star Wars annual #1 had the Marvel adaptation in B/W and colour but cut pages from the story.

I said to George that I wanted to go back to the way it was, in the sense that ours was much more carefree and lighthearted and humorous – in my opinion, anyway....hope they find the right balance of CGI with practical effects. I love props, I love models, miniatures, matte paintings -- I'm sort of old school. I think if you go too far in the direction of CGI it winds up looking like just a giant a video game, and that's unfortunate. … If they listen to me at all, it'll be, 'Lighten up and go retro with the way it looks.'

It's good to know that he thinks like we do.

Yeah,nice one Mark. :)

I read a preview that basically gives away the end of the arc and I'm pretty sure it's gruesome as hell if I have it right.

*POTENTIAL SPOILER*

It seems like the Joker is going to serve him Alfred's corpse on a plate.

*END SPOILER*

Yeah, the last page of last months Batgirl certainly suggested something like this !!

^^ I have been reading the Batgirl issues of this story arc. The last page of Batgirl #17 was pretty gruesome. The story concludes in this weeks Batman #17. I think I may know what you mean. If so....yeah..what ?

The new Marvel title 'The Fearless Defenders'#1 has started pretty good. Valkyrie and Misty Knight join forces to fight an undead army of Vikings. This is going to be an all female team with Dani Moonstar and Hippolyta joining in the next few issues.

One thing that's bothering me at the moment regarding The Avengers. In Uncanny Avengers #3, Thor has a strong resemblance to Chris Helmsworth on one page, and the new Secret Avengers#1 cover has Black Widow looking like Scarlett johansson and the new Nick Fury a spitting image of Samuel L.Jackson.

Marvel's 'Journey In To Mystery' is going along at a cracking pace at the moment with a story involving Lady Sif. Filled with the Beserker Rage, Sif is moody and kick ass, just how we want her to be. Recommended !

Oh no !!

At work the other day, two of us were talking about the film  'Ben Hur' and how wide the screen ratio is.

One of the guys listening in says "All I do with films like that, is zoom the picture in to fill the whole screen"!

AArrgghh ! WTF ??
