Warning Adult themes below!

I can't remember the link, and it might not even exist anymore, but there was a funny cross-reference on amazon.com at one point. If you looked up something like Daily Prayers for a More Spiritual Life, then looked under "customers who bought this book also recommend..." and then one of the listed books was A Woman's Guide to Anal Sex.

George Lucas makes you an offer you can't refuse

I don't much care for GL at present, haven't bought the crappy new dvds, and most likely won't see Ep III. Given that, if GL were to give me a once-in-a-lifetime offer (presumably non-SW related), I would definitely go for it. Sure you might feel you are sacrificing some integrity, but why let a grudge limit your options in life, or your opportunity to do something special? I still wouldn't buy his dvds though.

NEVERMIND (ROTS leaked images)
Time
There was a handful of new ROTS pics (hence the original name of the thread) up on a few sights for about 48 hours (the original intent of this thread). Some were just publicity photos, some were from the film (and were pretty spoilerific). Anyway, Skyman actually went ahead and finished the pic above. The original that was first posted was much lighter (and clearer) and the lightsabers were just sticks. Sidious looked (and looks) like he's 300 lbs.

I agree with most of what you said. I too am a big fan of the GC, and I agree about the quality of the games. The only two points I'd disagree on:

1) A lot of the high-end Xbox games DO have better graphics than what the GC could create. The GC's processor could not handle games like Ninja Gaiden or Halo in their Xbox form. It's just a fact.

2) Personally, I absolutely love the Xbox's hard drive. In fact, I'll automatically buy whatever next-generation console comes with one. Not having to screw around with memory cards, being able to download content, and saving hundreds of songs all while still having 50,000+ blocks left?? I love it.

Well, it's arguably just nit-picking, but it still kind of bothers me. Basically, any time a new cutscene begins, there is pop-up for about a half-second. Within this half second, whatever the image is, it shows up in layers. For instance, when it cuts to Miranda Keyes in the bridge of her ship, the only thing visible on the screen is an animatic/skeleton, then her face gets filled in, then the wall behind her gets filled in, then anything else in the backround gets filled in. All this takes place sporadically over the course of a half second. Yes, it's only a half second, so what's the big deal? But once you start noticing it, it gets annoying (at least to me). My question though was whether or not this is preferrable to a loading screen.

I was reading about Halo 2 where someone from Bungie explained the pop-up during the cutscenes. Supposedly the flickering/pop-up is because Halo 2 uses the in-game engine to create the cutscenes, rather than pre-rendered ones. Apparently they made this decision because pre-rendered cutscenes would require loading screens, which they said they felt would "detach the player from the flow of the game". And pop-up doesn't???

If you coud run in full Three-D motion and pull of all kinds of killer combos, then RE would lose it's point. It wouldn' be frightening at all, becaue 80% of the fear factor comes from being unable to react quickly. Whether intentional or not, the controls seem to simulate BAR and the fight of flight or freeze response.

That's not why I don't like it. I can deal with the camera, the slow response time, and the lack of being able to move in any direction. My complaint is literally the controls, not the game engine. It would be 100% better if they utilized both analog sticks. They didn't do this because at the time Resident Evil was being developed on the playstation, analog sticks didn't exist. Then they just went with it, and for some reason they wanted the remakes to be as faithful to the originals as possible, crappy control scheme included. Rotating in place before you can move???? C'mon, it's 2004!
