there's the French boxset that has English audio (with French subtitles outside the picture).

So that's the best laserdisc version out there I would say! Does anyone have it?

I have it. But at the moment I don't have the hardware to digitally extract the audio.

Actually I'm looking for a decent soundcard to extract it.

I'm sure this is old, but HOW do you download torrents?

So far it's been 20 minutes, and it still says Bit Torrent: 0.0%, 7 KB/s, 25 days remaining?

Is it normal for such torrents to take a month to download? I have Verizon DSL which is pretty fast in my area.

Oh, and thanks for the link, Rikter.

Guys, guys, guys...PROTOOLS is what you absolutely NEED to be using for audio. It's the best audio editing software out there. Period. All proffesional musicians use it these days. Except no substitutes.

Protools isn't needed for these kind of preservation projects. All you need to process the audio is a decent tool to upsample the 44.1 kHz to 48 kHz. Because you can extract the audio digitaly (lossless) from the newer Laserdisc releases of Star Wars.

Yes like splicing tape. When I see Star Wars at normal speed, I just don't notice it.

By searching on Google I found a site with some great stills. You can find them below the 2004 DVD screengrabs. Unfortunately there are some special edition only stills between them, but there is enough unchanged material to get a few good stills.

I think the only way to get X0 like captures from PAL is to modify the PAL player and perhaps averaging several different captures.

First of all the comb filter needs to be disabled. And perhaps the laser needs to be replaced by one more similar to the X0 laser. But to achieve this, there probably are more modification necessarily.

So you are the one who overbidded me.

It was one of my hopes to recover some footage missing on the end of disk one side one of the French version.

Sorry, if the disc has the missing footage I'll gladly send you a capture of it, but if not you'll have saved yourself some money.

I've no hard feelings toward you. Because I know that we have the same mission. To create a good version of the OT on dvd.

It would just be a shame if the content of those disc's would never see the internet.

Thank you in advance for the missing footage (if it's on it). On that way I can do "A New Hope". Because I want the complete movie on my version.

By the way, if you need English audio from my French laserdisc set, just send me a message.

edit: off back to eBay to sell some stuff to help pay for the laserdiscs...

I don't think these are the ones you're looking for. But they are great too.

Episode IV A New Hope
Episode V The Empire Strikes Back
Episode VI Return of the Jedi

Did you do those scans yourself?

Yes.

Strange, did you scan them from the Executor VHS-box artwork? Those small markings with "ALVIN" is that the creator of the artwork or is it you that have "marked" them?

I scanned it from some cards which came with the French THX laserdisc set (English audio, French subtitle version).

The ALVIN markings are on the original, so I think it's the name of the creator.

Edit: I see Klokwerk already confirmed the name Alvin.
