Often, when Sanders is in the news, my mother will bring up the fact that she briefly lived in my hometown, as if that’s something to be proud of. I hate it so much because I want to say that Sanders is a piece of crap, but I can’t because then she’d realize that my political views don’t align exactly with hers/dad’s and I’d be in major trouble.

Sorry to hear that. You have my sympathies.

I need some tech help with my smartphone(was: Anyone here know anything about smart phones?(was: Anyone here know anything about cell phones?))
Time

Just to make clear, I have a Galaxy S7 with Android Nougat. I am having trouble with some wifi networks. Some for reason, with some wifi networks, when I try to long onto them, I get a message “connected, no internet”. This doesn’t happen with all the wifi networks I try to log onto, just some, and I don’t think it is a case of the wifi network itself not being connected to the net. For instance today, I was in a Macy’s Department Store and tried to get on their wifi, it said “connected, no internet”.

Anybody have any advice for these situations. Thanks in advance.

In any case, Frink, if you are unwilling/unable to discuss her reasons for being shocked, maybe you shouldn’t have said she was shocked in the first place.

Nope.

Sheesh

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Your attitude.

That wasn’t a question, it was a shrug.

Ok, let me make more clear you sometimes have a bad attitude and one of those times is now.

You don’t need to make it more clear.

ffs

I once had a conversation about Star Wars with someone at a board game group I had attended. He disputed my saying that Padme dying in Episode III is a plothole for Leia remembering her, by saying Leia was referring to her adoptive mother–Bail Organa’s wife.

I can’t have discussions with people IRL about Star Wars when their information is inherently flawed. I mean, it obviously wouldn’t be appropriate to prove to him then and there that he didn’t know what he was talking about. If I had a conversation about it on the web, I could link a Youtube video that proves my point, but in real life that would create awkwardness.

“Do you remember your mother? Your real mother?”
“Just a little bit. She died when I was very young.”
“What do you remember?”
“Just images really. Feelings.”
“Tell me.”
“She was very beautiful…kind, but sad. Why are you asking me this?”
“I have no memory of my mother. I never knew her.”
[…]
“The Force is strong in my family. My father has it. I have it. And… my sister has it.”

Obviously Leia’s “real mother” refers to Padme Amidala, not Queen Breha Organa. Also, Queen Breha was alive until 0 BBY, where she was killed when Alderaan was destroyed. So Leia thinking Luke meant her makes no sense.

Is that source official canon? Nothing in the movies themselves says when Bail Organa’s wife died.

It’s not often I encounter somebody who talks to me about Star Wars in real life. The man I met today has made me very grateful for this.

He began his lecture (based on us being on nodding terms and my often wearing Star Wars clothing of some kind) with the old “I hate Disney” routine but followed it up with something quite novel. He educated me on the fact that all of Disney’s recent output was just stolen from George Lucas!

The Force Awakens was a straight-up copy of the original film and all they did was swap a boy for a girl in the lead role. The whole plot of stealing the Death Star plans was taken directly from a game and they only changed one word in the title (he was referring to The Force Unleashed.) Somehow he’s mashed together TFA and Rogue One in his mind.

He also believes the next film is the final one. This he knows because it has the word “last” in the title.

He’s amazed more people haven’t figured this whole thing out. As for me, I’m just amazed.

I’m amazed people like this exist in real life, I assumed they only spent time here.
