Can we just end this conversation. Warb just wants to pout and isn’t willing to do anything to get himself a way to watch the oot in HD. If he’d rather watch laserdisc transfers and pout then let him but we don’t have to read him bitch about it.

If you want to end the conversation end it. But I don’t think I’ve been pouting in my last few posts here.

Okay, well you’re complaining you can’t have the oot in HD but also refuse to take the necessary steps to get it (ethically if not legally) so what would you call it?

Perhaps it’s being stubborn. I could also call it staying loyal to the cause that originated this forum.

Here is a positive. I know a couple of people in my church who just lost their son. (I’ve talked about it in the emotional support thread) He had Morquio’s Syndrome. For the 45 years he was alive it slowly ravaged his body. He and his parents had all sorts of difficulties, especially in the last few years of his life. When he died, of course his parents were devastated. Yet they were also filled with hope and joy and had comfort. Why? Because they believe their son is in heaven with the Lord and has new body and is free of all the devastation caused by his Morquio’s. Their son had hope throughout his life because he believed that eventually he would go to be with the Lord and have a new body. I’d call that a positive.

A net positive’s what’s under discussion here. No one* has denied the positive effect religion can have on the individual/family/etc. (as someone who considers himself religious, I sure wasn’t).

*Mfm possibly excluded.

I knoq what you were talking about, I just thought I’d give a positive.

If you say so.

Nevermind.

If you like the OOT, you should get the OOT in HD. Disney is not going to release it, so your only choice is from fan preservations or edits—which you can only get if you have the best source they use. It’s your choice to not do that, but your only other option is VHS, laserdisc, or the 2006 SE DVD bonus discs (the GOUT), which are sourced from the laserdisc transfer (hence the mention earlier).

And that’s it. You can bitch about not having the Star Wars you want; or you can get the Star Wars you want by using the means available to you, learn to be content with it, and thus stop bitching. We’re lucky the HD preservations of the OOT exist at all. Being on a high horse about not paying for SEs doesn’t help you obtain versions that are not the SEs. Versions that are available now, today.

…you could also just not like Star Wars, not watch Star Wars, and not care. Then you don’t have to bother with what people do or don’t say about why people do or don’t like it.

It used to be no one here thought my attitude about not given any money to an se release was “being on a high horse”

You ever consider doing what I did? Buy them used on Ebay.

nah.

Yeah because with the prequels it was more unified that they were disappointing whereas with the Disney movies some of us actually like them? Yeah much more fun

With the prequels, I could dislike them without being considered sexist. I could be angry at Lucas and hate various characters without being considered toxic.

Forgive me if I’m misremembering, but I don’t recall anyone ever calling you such over your opinions on the ST.

Well, it seems like some think the only reason people hate TLJ is because they are sexist. No one may have told me that I specifically am sexist but it seems implied about all who hate TLJ.

If Star Wars is ruined, then just watch the OOT and be done with it.

I can’t unless I want to watch my old vhs copies (and my copy of ESB was stone when it was accidentally left in a vcr sent out for repairs), a copy that it technically illegal, or the non-anamorphic.

If I want to say that the PT or ST or both did damage to Star Wars I should be able to say so.

It’s not the saying so that bothers me. It’s the constantly saying so. Not from you specifically but from the “fanbase”.

Also, buy the OT Blurays and then download Harmy’s Despecialized Trilogy. It’s basically the OOT in HD. Then, shatter the OT blurays with a hammer. IMO, problem solved.

I am not going to give any money to an se copy sorry.

I guess my with saying that requiring prisoners to work as part of their punishment is slavery, comes off as saying:

making convicted prisoners make license plates = kidnapping innocent people from Africa, shoving them into boats under horrible conditions, and forcing them to pick cotton for the rest of their lives under the whip.

That just doesn’t make sense to me.

It is also a great source of suspicion where prisons are privatized, coupled with rising prison populations.

I certainly wasn’t talking about sending anyone to prison for the sole purpose of creating more workers. People should only be sent to prison for fair punishment of a crime and only after a fair trial. No one involved in sentencing people convicted of crimes should be making any profit on prisoners working for private companies or have anything to do with people and companies the prisoners are working for.

If this process can not truly be done without corruption then I would have to say it would have to be stopped.

Isn’t the main issue that they can’t be forced to work for a private company?

I don’t have a big problem with it as long at it is only done with convicted prisoners, and done humanely and under reasonable and fair conditions and the 8th amendment is applied properly.

That would open the door to a lot of potential corruption.

That would be a concern. Any corruption or corrupt people involved would have to be dealt with.

Certain companies getting free labor and getting an unfair advantage, for starters.

I would think the companies would have to pay the government(state or fed) something.

Who does one bribe to you get your company on the list?

I wasn’t considering bribery. Bribery is illegal and would have to be dealt with.

What if the employee/slave doesn’t do a good job? Punishment?

The same as when you would have a prisoner clean up litter or build a levee and doesn’t do a good job. Punishments would have to be humane and not violate the 8th amendment.

Now, as far as cleaning up litter or building a levee or something like that for the city or county, in exchange for some reasonable modest reward, I haven’t got a problem with that.

I don’t know how that is not slavery but being required to work for a private company is.

Kanye West has got to be one of the stupidest people in human history. This is no surprise though because almost 40% of Trump supporters wish that the South had won the Civil War, so he’s right at home with the rest of the pro-slavery crowd.

The 13th Amendment didn’t abolish all slavery.

I am probably going to get in trouble for this: I don’t consider requiring convicted prisoners to work under reasonable conditions to be slavery. I think it is part of their punishment for the crime they are convicted of. If it is believed that the conditions are too harsh or too much work is required for a given crime, arguing that the 8th amendment was violated is the solution.

I’ve not slept for 3 weeks.

How can you stay away for that long?

You can’t. Tis a joke. The most any human can stay awake is about 11 days, and the effects of attempting to go this long can be life-threatening, and if it doesn’t kill you, it can cause permanent physiological damage. This is why preventing prisoners from sleeping is considered a form of torture.

I thought I saw somewhere that if you go without sleep for long enough(much shorter than 3 weeks), that you start having hallucinations.

Maybe it’s because we’re in the Trump era. I see the contagion of contentiousness everywhere. If we don’t all take responsibility for ourselves and stop blaming others, it won’t stop.

I think it is more than that. The membership here has become more liberal/left leaning and and very pc and sjw minded. For instance, I found the politics thread much more enjoyable when I was just about the only non-conservative in there. Now it seems as if you either have to follow the liberal mindset(woke) or you’re offensive.
