and why do you think that was the issue? Because the southern states didn't want the national government outlawing slavery. They wanted to be able decide the issue of slavery for themselves.

I agree, there were other issues.

And the Rebel flag has nothing to do with slavery. When I see a Rebel flag, hate for black people or a desire to enslave them is not what comes to mind, and if that's what people think it means, then they don't understand the average southerner.

you keep missing my point. I'll not talking about what you think the rebel flag stands for. I'm talking about what other people (African Americans for example) think that flag stands for. And when they see it flying over government buildings, they get offended. Wrong or right, they still get offended. And I think a simular thing could happen with this movie.

The Rebel flag doesn't stand for slavery. Slavery wasn't even the main issue of the American Civil War. Now don't get me wrong, I don't agree with slavery, but complaining about a Rebel Flag on a car is stupid.

Besides; The rebel flag is just a cool design.

that may be your take on it, but I assure you there are many, many people who believe the rebel flag does stand for slavery and those people might be offended by its use in the movie. And I don't want this to go off in a tangent but slavery definitely was the main issue of the war between the states. It may not have been the only issue but, it was the main one.

If they don't like something they can turn away but enough of this 'worrying about upsetting the conservatives' crap.

Rant off.

its not the conservatives that are going to be upset it's the African American groups that will be offended. To them(and I can't say I blame them), the rebel flag stands for slavery. And from their point of view(again I can't say I blame them) General Lee lead the fight to try to preserve slavery. At the time the show was on it was acceptable, but in our more politically correct age I don't think it will be quite as acceptable.

A Modest Suggestion
Time
tempting but illegal Luke. I say boycott. Remember Ric, tman5 is not saying to never see ROTS just don't do it the 1st weekend. Maybe its unlikely but if we could unify and get everyone who signed the petition to boycott ROTS(just the 1st weekend) it could send a message and maybe get more media attention to our cause. So want if it will be 2005? I say the time to give up is not when the se OT is released on DVD, the time to give up is never.

actually I wasn't thinking of punching them( or him). I was thinking of passing around baseball bats to whomever would like to participate and everyone could have at them or him. And then Motti could finish them or him off with his knee and elbo blowers.
