My God. I am truly sorry to hear of what happened to your family Ric. Both you and your family my sympathy.

Do you guys still belive we have any hope?

It may not be easy for you to hear at this time, but there is still good in the world. Just look at all people did to help the victims of Katrina. And look at India and Pakistan working together to help the victims of the earth quake. People do good things all the time. Look to the good that people do to see the hope. We can never lose hope. Ric if you lose hope, you let the bad guys win and become another victim of these three sick men that killed your uncle. There will also be sick people in the world doing sick things. But we can't just give up and let them control our lives. And giving up on life, hope, and good in humanity won't bring back your uncle or help your family. Do not surrender yourself to their sick deeds.

I hope the cops are able to catch these bastards put them behind bars for a long, long time.

Ric, you and your family have my thoughts and prayers.

Superman looked pretty cool with the long hair thing.

I couldn't disagree more. Whoever decided to give Superman long hair, should be shot.

Now that you mention Kevin Smith's attempt to do Superman, I've finally accepted the possibiliy that it could have been worse. Tim Burton was slated to direct Smith's script, but Burton hated the script, as did producer Jon Peters. Burton, who brags about how he never reads comic books, wanted to make things fast and loose and Jon Peters wanted something that would just give them room to make a lot of toys, and they didn't like the faithfulness of Smith's script. Needless to say having a guy who refuses to read comics in the boat with a guy who does like comics just isn't a good match. Burton and Peters wanted to get rid of the classic Superman suit and they didn't want him to fly - they wanted him to wear the all black suit with the silver 'S' emblem and at one point actually had Superman travelling around in a "Super Mobile" and teleporting himself as opposed to flying. I also hear that Burton wanted to get rid of Nicholas Cage, another comic book lover, and replace him with Ralph Fiennes (Feinnes? never can get that name spelled right) and/or Sean Penn.

this is a joke right? no one could possible be stupid enough to actually want to do those things, right?

Not anymore. Used to be that Madison Ave. was the cutoff between south and north sides. Now, in an informal poll of Chicagoans, 53% of the city say that Chicago is now a White Sox town. Used to be about 20-25% were pro-Sox. Fine with me, you bandwagoneers. Maybe now I can actually get Cubs tickets.

well, I'm sure there are a few Cub fans left.

Indeed, but Gummo Marx quit their comedy act before they started doing movies. I was never really that fond of Zeppo either. Him and Shemp from the Three Stooges just seem to be of lesser quality than the rest of their respective groups.

I will have to disagree with you on Shemp. If you want inferior stooges, look at Joe Besser and Curly Joe Dorito. Shemp is a very good stooge imho. Did you know he is actually the original stooge to appear with Moe and Larry and not Curly?

Warbler, you gotta try the ending of 2001 set to Pink Floyd's Echoes. Mind blowing.

And for the record, I actually *don't* do drugs, though I'm sure if you do, it'll take it to a whole new level.

2001 is more than a film. It's a moving ("moving" as in "kinetic," not "tugging at the heart-strings") piece of brilliant, hi-concept art. The sequel is a great sci-fi flick and gripping story, but nothing more. The original is just something greater. Swan Lake on celluloid.

Sorry but I am a simple person with a simple mind. 2001 is above me and beyond me. It is not somthing I can grasp or understand. No matter how hard I try, I always fail.
