I think if I were to make a movie, I think I’d to make it with old technology. Make it exactly the same way they did in the 30’s, 40’s, or 50’s. I don’t know it would be in glorious black and white or three-strip technicolor(and I don’t mean a digital re-creation, I mean the real thing). I wouldn’t want to use any newer technologies, or techniques. I would want it to be as old fashion as possible.

I too like to spend unnecessarily excessive amounts of money and do things as inconveniently as possible to get similar results.

I imagine it’d be tricky getting ahold of usuable '30s-'50s film stock, and processing equipment from those decades probably doesn’t exist anymore.

make new '30s-'50s film stock.

That’s like asking for new antiques.

make new processing equipment that is exactly the same as the old.

Ridiculous. Soon you’ll be asking for new releases on LaserDisc.

I just want a new movie made exactly the same way movies used to be made.

So entirely by white men. Gotcha.

that is not what I meant and that was totally uncalled for.

Was it?

Yes, it is not what I meant.

It is clear in this thread were talking about the technical aspects of making films, just take a look at the first post of the thread. My comment about wanting a film made exactly the same way as movies used to be made had to do with the technical aspects of making a film, not the race or gender of those making film. I thought that would be obvious.

I wasn’t saying anything about you,

sure could have fooled me.

I was saying something about Hollywood.

Your post was poorly worded if that is what you meant.

p.s. Look at the thread title and original post. I don’t think it is the proper thread for a discussion of the history and current problems of racism in Hollywood.

Jesus Christ.

I can’t post anything without you dissecting it a hundred different ways.

And you wonder why I get annoyed with you.

You said what you said in response to me, you quoted my post. How am I to take it as anything other than you saying I wanted a movie made only by white people.

I am having difficulty thinking of how more information could change how this looks. But I am always willing to listen more information and will not accuse you of standing up for the school or accuse you of sticking your fingers in your ears until you hear one nugget of fact that supports the possibility that they did no wrong.

I’m sure there’s details that determine the level of barbarism here, but there’s nothing anyone can say that justifies corporal punishment in schools.

I hope you didn’t miss my first post when I found about about the school using corporal punishment.

Just like how it doesn’t matter what any apologist cop says when an officer shoots an unarmed hostage or little boy in a park to death.

how many more times are you going to keep going back to the cop shootings?

The response is a relevant example.

Well for now on I am just going to ignore it whenever you try to bring in our debates about cop shootings.

Sure maybe there are certain degrees of criminality there, but the situation is vile no matter what. There is no need to analyze every detail to come to that conclusion.

You should never be on a jury.

so while surprising I’m not outraged. Also, I’m not against spanking in principle, such as when done by parents, but I don’t see the value when done by principal or teacher.

I don’t see much value in a parent physically harming there child either, but I get that that’s a different situation.

you’ve got the wrong person with that quote. I didn’t say it, Mrebo did.

More people should appreciate that about you. I can’t help but tease. It sounds like this “swatting” was mild, conducted with oversight, and approved by the parents (and the student has no problem with it) so while surprising I’m not outraged. Also, I’m not against spanking in principle, such as when done by parents, but I don’t see the value when done by principal or teacher.

Thankyou. That is appreciated.

The student probably had no problem with it probably because it he knew how it would look and he wanted the school to look bad so he agreed to it.

Schools shouldn’t be doing it at all. The risk of abuse is too high. The risk of going too far is too high. It also seems to an inappropriate form of punishment for schools to be handing out in this day and age. Also if it is true that schools punish black students more often and more harshly than white kids, the existence of corporal punishment in schools would make the problem much worse.

It isn’t possible.

What could be done in the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s can still be done today.

I’m no engineer, but somebody made a huge mistake.

At least six people were injured Thursday afternoon when a pedestrian bridge at Florida International University collapsed onto eight lanes of road traffic and police believe multiple people have died.

Knock it off.

Why do you keep telling mfm to “knock it off” when he’s making valid points about your posts?

In your opinion.

Also in my opinion: telling someone to “knock it off” when they’re arguing a point rather than making personal attacks is childish.

You have little room to talk when it comes to being childish.

And you do?

Frink is the one that accused me of being childish in the first place. I just simply pointed out that he had little room to talk.

We can all be childish.

I suppose you are correct.
