I’ll try to give the short version.

It came off to me as something that was heavily studio influenced by the BBC to keep the show going on forever for their own selfish agendas by retconning nearly everything Russel T Davies and the classic series established.

Well, I will say that while I liked it, it felt more like an anniversary special for the new series rather than an anniversary special for Doctor Who itself.

I don’t think I have any fears of woman being in a position of leadership. Many times a woman has been by boss and/or immediate supervisor. I never had problem with it.

In his case, soul searching with regard to a TV show may seem trivial on the surface but the show was really just the trigger to look at much deeper issues.

Warbler, I hope you stay on for the ride. Personally, I’m hoping for a little less silliness and a little less all time & existence depends on this episode type stories. I’m wanting to get back to some of the better one-of stories. Fingers crossed Ms Whittaker and Mr Chibnall want the same.

There are a LOT of people who, rightly or wrongly, consider the south/confederates to have been the good guys, and are no doubt worried that that they will be portrayed negatively. Virtually nobody thinks the Nazis were good, so there’s nobody around to worry about them being portrayed in a negative light.

I don’t think the people that are complaining believe that the Confederacy were the good guys. I think they believe just the opposite.

The historical context between World War II and the Civil War are different. People think about them in different ways.

I’m not sure what you mean by “can” and “can’t” make a show. I think that’s a bit of a farcical framing. People are criticizing HBO for making Confederate. That doesn’t mean they “can’t” make the show.

I guess I should have used acceptable and unacceptable instead of can and can’t. My point is people are criticizing Confederate but not the Nazi show, yet the Nazi’s are regarded as much more evil and vile.

There also might be a great deal attributed to the seemingly random nature of the universe. Sometimes things blow up for whatever inscrutable reason when other similar things don’t. Randomness!
