Oh, and look! "Christopher Smith NT" remembers seeing the same version I did:

I saw this film in the theatre (JAWS) when it first came out. As I recall the
film was rated -R. I can remember only one scene that I've not seen since...

When Richard Drey. is examining the first body, the girl who was eaten, he says
"This is what happens..." This is what is in the PG version. This statement
makes no sense...its open ended.

I recall in the theatre version, that the doctor brings in the tin with the
remains of the girls body. The camera view is then from the ceiling where
Richard removes the covering cloth and you see parts of the breast, leg and
arm. Richard then says "This is what happens in a shark attack" And he picks
up the arm and you saw a bit more.

I have yet to see this since.

Link to original message above.

And here is yet another thread with people who remeber seeing the version of Jaws I did.

Actually, I remember that too, and I'm too young to have seen that in the theater...

but, to be honest, since I cant remember exactly when and where i saw it, and what media i saw it on, i cant prove squat. and i'm sure someone will try and tell me i didn't see this too, but hey whatever... just making conversation.

Star Wars: The Interactive Video Board Game (1996, Parker) (* unfinished project *)
Time
one of my favorite board games of all times was scanned and available for all to download... the dawn of the dead boardgame... could do the same thing with this... heck, anyone who wanted to could even redo it so that there are random "events" on the video I'm guessing, i dont know how the original rules worked.... once this dvd gets done, i'll probably do something like that if someone scans the stuff....

i'm rambling.

sega, i know this is asking alot since you already do so much... but is there anyway you can add a group to your non star wars postings? abm.dvd gets so full that i've never been able to download a full release because my news server sucks and i cant afford a news service like giganews... i dont know if there is a slower group, but it would be much appreciated... thank you for everything

At first I was very resistant to the idea, as it seemed like a real stretch. I have two problems that haven't been addressed here: First, it goes against the whole concept of two Sith - a master and an apprentice, unless the plan is to cut out the reference to the rule of two at the end of Episode I. I mean, even if we assume that it takes a while for Sidious to restore Maul/Grievous, there's still a time at the beginning of Episode III where there are two apprentices. Second, Maul/Grievous is a sith yet never uses a red lightsaber in Episode III. This could be fixed by rotoscoping though. I know he's collecting Jedi sabers, but at least one of his sabers should be a red sith saber. Ideally, it would be the repaired half of his original saber from Episode I.

I think it would be cool if that, after being brought back, Maul is trying to prove himself superior over Tyrannus... kind of like vying(sic) for attention of a father.

well, i encoded the first 3 episodes, but when i burned a test DVD the sound was WAY out of sync... I'm talking so bad I dont even know how much its off, I would say like 10-15 seconds at the very least... I dont know if this is some setting I missed in CCE or whats going on, but its all wonkered up.

I guess I can try going with TMPGenc, since its a vhs rip the quality loss probably wont be as noticable, and thats a program I'm much more familiar with...

if I could get a copy thats better quality then what I have, that would be AMAZING.

right now I'm trying to figure out editstudio 5 so I can piece together an animated menu, if i cant figure it out, then I have a few good ideas for a static menu.. i was going to try and do a screengrab of the quality of what i have, but i dont know how to do it with the software i'm using... i'll figure it out.

Right now i’m currently hard at work (well, encoding) Brisco County Junior…

what I want to know is, if anyone is interested in the DVD’s when I’m done… (What i’m really truly hoping for is that Coov is a Brisco fan and can do a cover, but due to lack of HQ images out there, this is unlikely)

I am about 1/2 way through encoding the first disc (doing 6 pass CCE) off of a VHS rip (leeched from suprnova a few years back, better quality than the torrent i got from Demonoid)

I will, of course, be doing some menus, although I dont know what I have in mind yet… i’m going to work on that once I have the first discs episodes encoded…

another question for anyone still listening: What would be a good bitrate for this encode? I did 6 pass vbr, minimum was 2000, avg 4000, max 9000 or something, i want this to be best quality possible because I truly did love this show

thanks everyone

hey guys,

sorry for being slacl. been out and bought my dvd recorder this morning and am in the process of transferring as we speak. Will keep everyone posted, but in the meantime, does anyone fancy trying to put together a funky menu for this project. I'm not the best at dvd authouring but will make the VTS file available to anyone who can help turn this into a fully available product

i could do a menu for it, but some screenshots would be most helpful in doing so
