My boss just purchased a $25k 3D Systems Figure 4 Printer so that we can help make PPE, swabs, and valve splitters for ventilators for our local hospitals in New Mexico. I’ve been asked to run the tool and I’m looking forward to this, I’ve no idea how to design stuff but from my research I should be able to run it. These are scary times and I’m really proud that my boss has stepped up in this manner as well as providing free meals via Subway to first responders. I hope that you are all well and May the Force be with us all!

That is awesome man! All credit to you and your boss 😃

Should be fun - and a chance for people to ask about the re-shoots, deleted scenes, was/is there a ‘Director’s Cut’, will there ever be a decent length documentary about the making of the film, etc? - and maybe even get an answer…

I sure hope that’s available after the fact (about to head out on a motorcycle ride). I would be interested to hear what went on in the reshoots. For the record, I love the film and have no problem with what we got. The ending/plans transmission/etc works for me just fine.

I suppose I’m more interested only because it’s been so guarded. They’ve been more open with the behind the scenes disaster that was Solo.

The full video is still up at the above link mate (I haven’t had chance to watch it myself as yet).

There is also a 10 minute ‘highlights video’ of the whole thing at IGN’s youtube channel, here:-

Star Wars Writers Reveal Hidden Secrets of Rogue One

Hopefully Gareth Edwards himself may give us more information in the future - whenever he is allowed to / if he is interested in talking about it?

I certainly hope he does… 😃

There is also a great ‘overview’ style writeup on it:

20 Things We Learned From the New ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Commentary: ‘Inglourious Basterds’ References, Alternate Titles, Cassian’s Backstory, and More - at the SlashFilm website.

Some of it I have heard before, but some new stuff there as well. I couldn’t watch the full youtube video, it just is not for me, but it does work great as intended - a commentary track.

I hope Gareth does talk about his time on the film soon, and also does a commmentary track too!

Disney Plus ‘Rogue One’ Spinoff Adds Stellan Skarsgard, Kyle Soller:-

I love Stellan Skarsgard, what a quality and varied actor. I am not sure on the other guy (resembles Ramsey Bolton from Game Of Thrones?) but things are looking good for when they can get back around to filming this.

More K2 humor too 😃

What set of the official retail releases to buy, so I can acquire fan projects?
Time

I wonder how many years it will be before editors will start using 4K UHD quality discs as sources for their projects on here? And we’ll be required to own the 4K version of films to obtain fan projects.

I imagine it will be some time away given the cost of high-end hardware required, and also software limitations, as well as the considerably more time it would take to complete projects. Not to mention the storage and uploading issues/possible costs involved.

Blu-rays for the win for some time yet to come 😃

What is the title of the video, and who is it by, idir_hh?

I only ask as I don’t want to fill up my youtube page with lots of similar ‘monetized videos of hate’ (if it is one of those type of videos?) via The Algorithm.

I do wish more of us would put a title and source to videos we link to. We are asked to in the thread’s OP - and it makes sense just as a courtesy to do so for others here.

Another reason why some of the changes made for the 1997 Special Editions make no sense; especially for Star Wars…

The Death Star has a clear line of fire for the Rebel Base on Yavin IV (which was added into the scene for the 1997 SE) - even before the Rebels begin their attack:-

More information on this can be found here:-

My mind is blown! Kudos to 005 😃

I’d love to hear an explanation from Lucas or Lucasfilm for that change!

Prayer requests, Anyone?
Time

I’m not a religous man - but right now I’m praying we all get through this safely, can help each other out when we can, and all do our part to help stop this horrific coronavirus from spreading further - especially to those most at risk.

And get more PPE and medical supplies to those on the frontline, and also for essential and key workers too.

How does the technology from what's shown in the PT lead to what's depicted in the OT?

As for the forum sections, I don’t know. I can’t find anything any more.

Really? I thought the 3 new sections are much easier to find the threads we want to - rather than trawling through the one giant-ass section (that had a lot of discussions I personally had little interest in).

What are you looking for man? The moderators’ Index threads help me big-time, and if I can’t find a certain thread or subject by doing an online search, I just ask one of the mods! 😃

There is also that The “Help me find that thread” Thread in ‘The Cantina’ forum. Nobody seems to use it much anymore, but it still could be.

Back to the thread…

I did like the design of the ships in the Prequels overall - it did show a more regal or prosperous era, and other newly designed ships such as Correlain modular ships, and later the Rupublic and Separatist fleets. There is also Palpatine likley ‘persuading’ many ship-building companies and systems to build ships for the ‘war effort’ - aka his Empire from there on in - so resources outside of the war effort (or for ‘maintaining order’ would be scarce - even for previously rich and powerful people on Naboo etc.

The OT shows a galaxy of make-do for near on everyone outside of the Imperials - a make-do, repair and recycle for everyone else - with any new ships being made likely being out of reach unless you were super rich, or maybe ‘in with the Imperials’.

Continued into the Sequels, which for me indicated that the galaxy still hasn’t fully recovered from the rule of the Imperials decades earlier. Beat-up ships of old, some slighty new models - but not many of them as they were likely to be too expensive for many people or smaller organisations.

A little in the films about ship-building parts, architects, engineers, skilled builders disapperaing would have been cool - especially in regards to the Palpatine’s super fleet of ‘10s of 000’s of ships’?

Just my guess at it. Cool thread, Tantive3+1.

Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga 4k UHD -- 27 DISC Boxed Set -- 3/31/2020
Time

Lucasfilm seem to have adopted an attitude of silence when bringing out these releases.

There is no official information on there being any changes from previous versions that were available to buy - let alone what those changes are, and therefore what content we are actually paying a pretty penny for. They seem to expect people will just buy them because ‘Star Wars’ is on the fancy box.

The lack of information is far from helpful - and demonstates quite a lazy attitude on their part. Especially given some of the inane content they try and push on us that appears on the offical website and their other social media pages.

That there is little-to-nothing new for the Original Trilogy bonus discs (and for the Prequels too?) for this, the first ever release of the entire Star Wars ‘Skywalker’ Saga (quite an expensive set for the UHD/4K release), to me demonstrates they are treating the fans / customers with disdain - and little respect; for me they are doing the bare minimum as to the bonus material, and also the release itself.

They won’t be getting any money from me for this lazy release and attitude on their part - whether it is the 2011SE or 2019SE.

It is time for them to up their game.

(I’ll stop warbling on now! 😃)

Coronavirus US live: US now has more cases than any other country’:-

Man, these are indeed worrying times for us all. Keep well people. 82,404 confirmed cases in the US alone, and likely many more when we can actually start testing more people.

What?!! This makes no sense. Two versions available at the same time - and with no clear indicator of which version the customer is actually buying on the box?

If you buy the movies on Blu-ray, you get the Blu-ray versions of the films.

If you buy the movies on Ultra HD, you get the Ultra HD versions of the films on both the UHD discs and the BD discs.

Just like when the Blu-ray box sets included the Blu-ray versions of the films on both the BD discs and the DVD discs. So there’s already been a precedent for this.

How I read the tweet info was…

If I buy the soon-to-be-released ‘blu ray only’ boxset I get the 2011 Special Editions version of the OT.

If I buy the soon-to-be-released ‘UHD / 4K’ boxset I get the 2019 SE / Disney+ version of the OT.

Hence my post of…

‘What?!! This makes no sense. Two versions available at the same time - and with no clear indicator of which version the customer is actually buying on the box?’
