Fuck you guys LOL 😉
Fuck you guys LOL 😉
Attention everyone, that gif shows Neg pretending to be Tyr.
Obviously false because that kid is not an obsese troll monster.
HEY!
I think a lot of folks don’t like the OT aliens. I’ve had to defend the characters in the bar in Star Wars many times, even on this site. People think they look fake and the designs are lame. The success of their execution is debatable but the designs are great.
Yeesh, if anything I feel like the PT and ST aliens fall a bit on the “manufactured” side of things, even the physical props. I mean, I love things like the Wolfman and stuff, but even just having a Duros or a Trandoshan or something in there would really connect the trilogies.
I’d like to see more OT aliens in the ST. New stuff is cool and all, but lets have some connection here. One Rodian or Twi’lek in Maz’s Castle would have helped a lot.
Well, we did get both Nien Nunb and Ackbar at the Resistance Base.
Yeah, but they were the only two and they’re actual characters we know so it’s not too big a deal seeing them again.
It almost feels like they’re going out of their way to ignore the OT aliens.
Well, after the Clone Wars and whatnot, who knows what Maul’s endgame is.
I would imagine revenge against the man who chopped him in half is still high on the list.
Yeah I’m kind of worried they’re going to kill him in Rebels, which I think would be an enormous mistake because it would close the door on using him for an Obi-Wan movie, which I think it’s all but guaranteed they WILL do. If they don’t announce it as the next spinoff after Han Solo, I will be SHOCKED.
It’s funny, I just listened to a Dave Filoni interview where he says that Maul was originally supposed to be killed by Vader at the end on Season 2 but as the story evolved, that ended up not happening. He’s supposed to be a big player in Season 3 so we’ll see where it goes from there.
Now that we have characters from the animated series’ moving into the films (Saw Gerrera), I don’t think it would be a stretch at all to see Maul move back onto the screen. Ray Park could even reprise the role considering time and everything.

Interesting!

I own the figure depicted in your profile pic.
It’s harmless, but there’s nothing to it and it takes up space that could be occupied by more important things.
Heh.
As you can see, I’ve bumped the Invisible Thread from the link on the first page so we can start posting again. I’ve missed it.
Did you make that gif from your own home movies?
Busted.
*flees while executing sick dance moves*
Chewie aside, the rebellion didn’t have an alien in their ranks until ROTJ.
Now I’m not going to argue that the Emperor isn’t different looking because he’s an evil wizard - that’s obviously the intention. But there really is nothing in the film to suggest he couldn’t be an alien. In fact, he looks quite a bit like some of the rebel aliens (prune faces).
I like the Empire-as-specieist idea, and it fits, but it’s not a part of the films’ text. He’ll who’s to say the storm troopers aren’t aliens?
Are there any black Rebels before ROTJ? (I don’t count Lando)

I’m just not a fan of how it was presented in the PT and old EU because they did that thing where they shoehorned and retconned stuff to make it fit.I would like to see some examples of this retconning if you don’t mind.
It just feels weird when they do things like make Vader’s taunting of Luke during the Cloud City duel into a lightsaber form thing. My issue with it is the old-EU/PT thing where there has to be some name for everything or an explanation for everything.
According to this fellow here they are. Nice try though.
Oh, well that’s news to me actually. Thanks for the link. I never liked the lightsaber forms because they all just reeked of the Prequels and EU shoehorning to me. I’m not surprised to learn that they originated in the PT novelizations.
Not sure why it’s a “nice try,” I’m just running off the assumption that everything old is still non-canon. A lot of people haven’t realized that quite yet.
So you assumed that every Jedi and Sith were taught exactly the same way in terms of lightsaber dueling? You do know that in real life there different sword fighting techniques so lightsaber forms are pretty much the same shit. I hate the PT as much as the next guy but Christ man…
No no, I don’t mind the concept of lightsaber forms at all. I mean, at its core it calls back to martial arts and samurai techniques and all that, which is just fine.

Either that or he needed more training in Soresu.
Not canon.
Unless the egg was fertilized, it’s more like bathing the chicken in its … um … joy juice.
I always thought it was great filmmaking to have Vader duel Luke one-handed on Cloud City.
While Luke is trying his hardest to hold his own with two hands, Vader is effortlessly making a fool of him with one hand (until Luke gets a hit on him, after which Vader loses his composure a bit). So much is said in the fighting style throughout that duel.
I feel similarly about TFA. Kylo’s fighting is obviously not masterful like Vader’s (I feel like Kylo knows cuts, but not so much proper dueling) but he obviously knows more than Finn who is on his heels for the entirety of their fight. Rey is also on her heels until she really connects with the Force.
Kylo shows a lot of the brash overconfidence and flash of a wannabe (or someone who’s acting like he thinks a Sith Lord like Vader would act) that’s never been properly challenged, and then when the Force manifests itself strongly in one of his opponents, his bravado and ability crumbles.
I’m taking it as a joke until proven otherwise.
The BB8 one, not so much.
The reason they have Finn give the thumbs up so prominently is so that it’s obvious that BB-8 is mimicking it.
I just find the idea that “LOL IT’S A MIDDLE FINGER” is dumb.

Also Luke is the only one who knew the Force Kick and he wanted to add that move to his repetoire.
Well played. allol
The Emperor didn’t seem too concerned about the battle itself, in fact I thought he tricked the Rebellion into attacking just so he could get to Luke.
Is that what happened?
I’m pretty sure his main plan was to get rid of the Rebel fleet, thereby the Rebel Alliance in general. He says himself that Luke would have come to him by hos own will at some point anyway.
Giving the fake plans to the Bothans, letting the shuttle past the shield, etc. seem like a ludicrously complicated plan just to get one guy who would have forced himself to confront Vader/Palpatine at some point anyway.
I’m pretty sure his main goal at the battle of Endor was to destroy the Rebel fleet, and Luke showing up at the same time was a predicted bonus (not to mention a plot convenience).I honestly feel like the Emperor isn’t too concerned with Luke at all until Luke shows up on the Death Star.
On the same note, though, I don’t think he was that concerned with the Rebel fleet once they were there, either.
Well, maybe not “concerned”, but they were definitely his military priority at the time. However Luke was definitely his focus at the time.
Since he had everything so well planned out he probably wasn’t that concerned about anything really.
(It’s like Luke said to him; “your overconfidence is your weakness”.)
Exactly, that last line is what led me to make that post.
He’s just so used to things going as he plans/foresees, that he almost doesn’t care. That’s why I feel like the concept of him using this “battle meditation” thing to be so goofy.
