Is anyone else having trouble viewing twimg images embedded into posts?

I’m assuming it’s something like AdBlock or NoScript blocking them, but it shouldn’t be…

What browser are you using?

Firefox.

It’s weird because Twitter works fine and I can see all the images on there, it’s just when they’re embedded that they break for me.

JEDIT: Just disabled all of my extensions and addons and they’re still broken. Weird.

JEDIT2: Just tried it in Chrome and Edge and it seemed fine. I’ll query Jay.

Tolkein is just a terrible rambling writer.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the books and have read them all, but the man was just hyper-verbose and had no concept of when to be concise or cut something down.

All correct.

Except for the spelling of the author’s name. I quit halfway through The Two Towers. Twice.

Whoops, transposed some letters. Didn’t even notice, thanks.

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread

I mean it could be almost anything. There’s almost no information in that image about any of the characters. The only thing we can reasonably assume is that the two red-robed figures are Imperial Royal Guards and that the setting is an Imperial base of some sort.

Anything beyond that is baseless speculation.

New Rebels episode; meh. Filler episode. I wouldn’t have missed anything if I didn’t watch it. I don’t know why they insist on blueballing (Chiss joke?) us; they know we really want to see Thrawn, Vader and Maul.

What! Man, I couldn’t disagree more! Frankly, I’d call this episode essential.

Plus, this episode is all about the origins of Wedge Antilles! How is that not worthwhile? He was one of my favorite OT characters growing up, and I really enjoyed his EU exploits as well, so I really enjoyed this look into how he came to fight alongside the rest of the Rebels in the OT. And not only that, we get to see Hobbie, who was a Rogue Squadron member at Hoth.

The opening was amazing. I love the way the space battles feel perfectly OT. The pilot deaths and the effects and everything were perfect. Loved seeing TIE Interceptors again, especially with the red racing stripes like the 181st had in the X-Wing comics, and I believe this is the first Rebel transport we’ve seen in the series so far? So that’s another classic Rebel ship brought to the show.

It was also cool to see someone using the card slot on an R2 unit for the first time since ANH, too. And the Imperial banter about whatever combination of letters and numbers is always funny. The Pryce/Sabine fight was great, I thought.

I always enjoy a look into the inner workings of the galaxy, so seeing things like how TIE pilots are trained was great. Most of it felt like it was right out of the X-Wing books, which I loved. TIE simulators and training scenarios and all that. Something about the design of the Skystrike Academy felt familiar to me, too… I also felt like the music was inspired by Rogue Squadron, at least a bit.

Also, I immediately figured out the Fulcrum Agent during their message.

Plus, not a single lightsaber all episode. Perfect.

As an aside, I think of all the updates to the show’s costumes, I’m most excited about the little orange triangle on Kanan’s tunic. It always screams “McQuarrie!” to me. I’m also catching a lot of the animation updates they’ve made. Movements are much smoother and realistic now. Lots of new small animations adding a lot of life to the characters as well. Also seems like the lighting and effects are improved as well. Some of the space shots looked “real.”

Lord of the Rings: Extended Editions Actually Suck?

The Lord of the Rings is one of the most painful book series to read and the Extended Editions serve that well and actually do the books more justice.

That said, I don’t see the point of watching them non-extended. The best way to watch them is to quit your life and watch all three in a row, preferably with several friends, lots of snacks, and booze.

Or while cooking Thanksgiving dinner in Canada.

It’s not a “fun afternoon matinee romp,” it’s a multi-day slog.

A solid response: http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2016/10/04/hoth-white-why-diversity-matters-in-star-wars

He said the diversity, no matter why or how, is a good thing. And when he says “in a weird way I think Star Wars has always been immune to the whole ‘race and gender’ thing.”, He’s right. Kids of all colors and races have always loved Star Wars despite the mostly white cast. He’s not saying "All the characters should be white and diversity is stupid."
And in the “sex” part, he’s clearly talking about romance.
I don’t see what there is to be angry about.

My thoughts exactly.

Contacted the site, will keep you guys posted.

But, man, the heck did I get myself into here. Finally decide to donate to a campaign and try and do something good and it turns out to be a potential scam, and the person in question turns out isn’t very nice himself (though, I’m not judging anybody here).

Should’ve just minded my own business (unless it’s a legit campaign).

Nothing wrong with wanting to help a fellow human being.

Just gotta be careful with it.
