From that same article:

Interestingly, CNN’s Jake Tapper tweeted in response to Rich’s original tweet: “That it even need be said is ridiculous, but mocking the 10-year-old child of a politician you loathe is odious, immoral, & self-defeating.”

I think CNN needs to give Jake Tapper a break as well as it appears he agrees with the SNL writers sentiment on homeschooled children being violent shooters when they grow up.

😦

I have no idea how you got there. He was condemning the original tweet by Rich.

“That it even need be said is ridiculous, but"

^This is how I got there. To me, it sounds as if he agees the homeschool suggestion is so true, that it need not be said … as in it’s obvious. Now, I’m not saying that is what he meant, it is how I perceive what he wrote. This isn’t his first rodeo and certainly would not be the first controversial thing he’s said openly.

No, Tapper is definitely saying “I can’t believe you need to be told this because it should be obvious, but that’s a really terrible thing to say about a child.”

Episode VIII : The Last Jedi - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

I actually quite like the title. It has a very nice and minimalist quality to it, but a lot of layers as well.

So… which Jedi? Plural Jedi? One Jedi? Historically? Presently?

Luke? Rey? Ben? Another?

Hmmm…

Spoiler: It’s Luke.

Also I’m probably going to exit this thread now until the movie is released.

Just saw the episode.

Where the hell did that come from?

After last weeks episode I was ready to throw in the towel with this series but this episode was simply excellent.

Sabines monologue during the final duel gave me goosebumps and heartburn all at once.

Now we have a three week break … After just taking a three week break … Why so many breaks?

If break length is indicative of the quality of the episodes they can break for as long as they want as far as I’m concerned!

Devil’s advocate: it’s a silly sign, but it’s also supposed to be a joke. And, like most jokes, there’s some truth behind the intent. Which is to say, obviously women have far more rights than guns (don’t think anyone doesn’t literally think that), what they’re trying to say is that they wish protecting women’s rights were as important to politicians as protecting “gun’s rights” (preventing gun control).

Totally agree with this, but it’s such an easy target.

Yeah that pronunciation was a bit of a shock when I first listened to the radio drama, though I had hoped it was just a mistake (like how they used the Rebel fanfare for the Imperials). But I guess it’s official? Weird.

I assume that’s where they looked when deciding on a “canon” way to say it.

But as Lucas used to say with regards to pronunciation: “Ehh, it’s a big galaxy.”

Wow.

One of the best episodes of the series so far, sure.

But I’d argue it is also an example of some of the best Star Wars ever made.

And to think people were ready to jump ship back when Dave made them pacifists in The Clone Wars, and to see the story of Mandalore unfold and come to this point? Dave has written Mandalorians into something so good and so perfect and so beyond what Karen Traviss (or any other writer) ever did when she was ruining them… I had my doubts about Sabine when the series began but I can confidently say that she is one of my favorite Star Wars characters ever written after this.

Every note hit, too. The history and heritage, the samurai feel, Kiner’s amazing score, Kanan’s training, Tiya and Freddie’s acting (holy shit), Sabine’s monologue… I’m having trouble processing it all right now, but I was just blown away. The animation and framing and production of this episode felt like they went just that extra mile, like it was created with reverence. Just… so good.

Such an emotional episode. Just wow.

Meanwhile in the U.K.:

One leading climate expert accused the Government of “trying to sneak it out” without people noticing, saying he was “astonished” at the way its publication was handled.

In the report, the Government admitted there were a number of “urgent priorities” that needed to be addressed.

It said it largely agreed with experts’ warnings about the effects of climate change on the UK.

These included two “high-risk” issues: the damage expected to be caused by flooding and coastal erosion; and the effect of rising temperatures on people’s health.

The report concluded that the number of heat-related deaths in the UK “could more than double by the 2050s from a current baseline of around 2,000 per year”.

It said “urgent action” should be taken to address overheating in homes, public buildings and cities generally, and called for further research into the effect on workers’ productivity.

The Government also recognised that climate change “will present significant risks to the availability and supply of food in the UK”, the report said, partly because of extreme weather in some of the world’s main food-growing regions.

The report also said the public water supply could be affected by shortages and that the natural environment could be degraded.

I would’ve respected Trump so much more if he had just come out and said;

“It’s true, my inauguration was less attended than President Obama’s, and for a number of reasons. President Obama was a very popular figure, and his inauguration was a historic event. I have no illusions about my popularity, I’m aware that I’m controversial, and I believe that many of my supporters were afraid to attend because of the possibility of riots. Not even a mile away, rioters lit a limousine on fire…”

His ego will be his downfall.

Wow, that’s a hundred times more eloquent than Trump has ever been or ever can be.

Indeed you did.

I’m pretty sure all she’s done is Mythbusters, haha. That’s so odd.

I guess she’s popular for being a cute ginger on the Internet so pictures and whatnot get around.

Eavesdropping solved the interview problem, but it presented a new one. After hearing Trump’s discussions about business on the phone, Schwartz asked him brief follow-up questions. He then tried to amplify the material he got from Trump by calling others involved in the deals. But their accounts often directly conflicted with Trump’s. “Lying is second nature to him,” Schwartz said. “More than anyone else I have ever met, Trump has the ability to convince himself that whatever he is saying at any given moment is true, or sort of true, or at least ought to be true.” Often, Schwartz said, the lies that Trump told him were about money—“how much he had paid for something, or what a building he owned was worth, or how much one of his casinos was earning when it was actually on its way to bankruptcy.” Trump bragged that he paid only eight million dollars for Mar-a-Lago, but omitted that he bought a nearby strip of beach for a record sum. After gossip columns reported, erroneously, that Prince Charles was considering buying several apartments in Trump Tower, Trump implied that he had no idea where the rumor had started. (“It certainly didn’t hurt us,” he says, in “The Art of the Deal.”) Wayne Barrett, a reporter for the Village Voice, later revealed that Trump himself had planted the story with journalists. Schwartz also suspected that Trump engaged in such media tricks, and asked him about a story making the rounds—that Trump often called up news outlets using a pseudonym. Trump didn’t deny it. As Schwartz recalls, he smirked and said, “You like that, do you?”

Schwartz says of Trump, “He lied strategically. He had a complete lack of conscience about it.” Since most people are “constrained by the truth,” Trump’s indifference to it “gave him a strange advantage.”

When challenged about the facts, Schwartz says, Trump would often double down, repeat himself, and grow belligerent. […] Whenever “the thin veneer of Trump’s vanity is challenged,” Schwartz says, he overreacts […]

Source. A long article, but very interesting and worth a read. So far nothing I’ve ever seen from Trump contradicts anything I read here.
