Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

Tobar's been keeping up up-to-date on this today. I've been afraid to come to the forums today considering the shitstorm I had rightfully predicted. That said...

My general thoughts have already been aired repeatedly by you fine folks here. I'm sad that this has happened. Very sad. It's as if we all cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. Except we've never been noisier. Let's keep this up, maybe one day it'll come to actual, literal fruition.

Quotes!

I think it's safe to say that we've at last without a doubt reached the point where Star Wars has ceased to be anything special or meaningful, and has instead become a complete joke.

Just wait until we see the next edition.

Just found one of the alterations done to Episode 4

I made the preview tiny just in case people don't want spoilers. Just click on the image to view

This looks like porn from back here, at-a-glance.

This thread is giving me great ideas for my eventual Ridiculous edits of the OT.

Looks like George has beaten you to it, buddy.

Another long time lurker here. Hello.

Lol, they couldn't even get Chad Vader to do the voice? It sounds like a pitched down voice. Wasn't there an article stating that Matthew Wood and possibly some other Lucasfilm employee are now officially in all 6 movies? If so, i wouldn't be surprised if they did the 'NooNoooo!' and the 'painful position Krayt cry'. But that also means there has to be another added voice inEmpire. Somebody please check this.

I wasn't planning to buy this immediately to begin with, but now...an absolute never.

I wonder how people who grew up with the 2004SE will react to this.

Not sure why I wanted to quote this one, but I wasn't going to not quote it after all that work. Matthew Wood is a bad man. A very, very bad man.

How did you imagine The Star Wars Prequels before they came out?

Yeah, apparently the Clone Wars in that timeline probably ended just before ANH (if Leia's age in the photo is anything to go by). Even though Leia says "years ago" in ANH...

I'd like to see the EU try to tie that into the current continuity.

They have.

The background of the Mandalorian Protectors given by Fenn Shysa in this issue appears contradictory with the story laid down in the film, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, namely that Shysa claims that he fought on the side of the Empire, that his commander was Boba Fett, and that he became familiar with Princess Leia during briefing before battles. These were all contradictory statements, as Boba Fett was only 10 years old during the beginning of the Clone Wars, Leia Organa had not even been born yet, and Jango Fett had been allied with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The Star Wars Insider article, History of the Mandalorians eventually retconned these discrepancies, by claiming that Shysa had been confused in his retelling. The clone Alpha-Ø2 was shown to be Shysa's real commander, with the article stating that there were rumors that the clone was Jango Fett's son. The picture of Princess Leia in the comic was shown to actually be a picture of Padmé Amidala, showing that Shysa had confused the two when he met Leia many years later. Lastly, the article stated that the Mandalorians were sent into battle by Darth Sidious, making Shysa's claims of fighting for the Empire true, from a certain point of view.

It's contrived, like almost all EU retcons.

That's something you can blame Karen Traviss for.
