I can’t imagine why the vendor should be castigated for erring on the side of being nice.

Okay I’m being a hypocrite, but just so it’s clear where I stand: Exactly. That’s all it comes down to.

Do I hate that they changed the Fire Temple music in Ocarina of Time? I do. But I also understand why and that’s perfectly fine.

In my mind, the thought process should go: “Oh, they removed X because they didn’t want to take the chance of offending anybody. Okay. Now what’s for dinner?” It requires no more discussion than that.

Moonraker (1979) 4/10

Great score! The pre-title sequence is one of the most exciting of the series up to this point. Excellent stunt work! Roger still looks good and is as relaxed in the role of 007 as he was in “The Spy Who Loved Me”. The locations are stunning and the extras as beautiful as ever. The story had a nice flow from location to location even if it is goofy. The actress playing the role of Goodhead was flat and the character generic and uninteresting. Bond and Goodhead have zero sexual chemistry. It’s just a female Felix Leiter and Bond beds her down just because it’s a woman. The Gondola was way over the top and is the kind of humor that soured the series in my opinion. Some people feel that the over the top stuff was what made Moore’s Bond great. Jaws returning was a huge mistake as well. The cable car fight is another over the top goofy set-up. Jaws crashing into the station and meeting the girl with braces is more suited for a spoof of spy films. I feel the same way about everything after the boat chase. Loved the return of John Barry’s “007” theme. Not the worst film in the series, yet far from the “From Russia With Love” or “On He Majesty Secret Service” style of 007 film that I crave.

She doesn’t have braces.

I was waiting for someone to catch that. Well done!

You gotta get up pretty early in the morning to sneak braces by me.

John McCain—the original Maverick, ol’ Walnuts, the brave teller of truths—is somehow once again positioning himself, to credulous journalists, as a renegade Republican who isn’t afraid to buck his party, despite his three-decade record of not ever actually bucking his party in any meaningful way.

“John McCain just systematically dismantled Donald Trump’s entire worldview,” the Washington Post’s Aaron Blake says of a speech McCain gave in Munich, in which he didn’t mention the president, whose cabinet he has largely voted to confirm.

A more accurate way of phrasing “(ambivalently, agonizingly) taking on the president” might be “not actually taking on the president.” McCain has supported every one of Trump’s nominees besides one: budget director Mick Mulvaney, who lost McCain’s support because he has supported defense budget cuts. McCain’s sole inviolable principle is that we must spend an unlimited amount of money on war with everyone forever.

Ever since his longtime aide and ghostwriter Mark Salter wholly invented McCain’s “maverick” persona from whole cloth in the late 1990s, the sum total of McCain’s record of brave or maverick-y actions consists of “giving good quote to reporters.” That’s it.

It’s a valid criticism. Speaking out against Trump is a good thing but he’s not backing it up with his actions.

This is why I never vote for him. He’s sometimes got some bark, but never any bite.

Abilify is a miracle drug in many ways! Works so well for so many of my patients! It also comes in two different types of long-acting injections if you just want to take your medicine once a month or every six weeks. I’m glad you’ve finally found something that works for you! I don’t always reply, but I follow how you’re doing. Keep it up!

Well, it was. I feel like I’m backsliding. This is the same thing that happened when the boost to my Prozac temporarily made me feel better. I’ve just been popping it as a pill, along with my Prozac and Klonopin. Much as I’d like to say “Oh, the medication made me better!” There’s still a ways to go, and hopefully the psychiatry will help too. I hope I’m making steps in the right direction and making an effort to feel better and not being too reliant on medication. I really do. This is going to be a long road, but God willing, I’ll come to the end of it different (whether I like it or not), but at least not worse. Hopefully even better.

How does it react with alcohol? I rarely drink, but if I ever do, I’d like to make sure I’m not killing myself.

Man, I was scared to take that Abilify, but WOW, it’s helped more than anything else has so far. I’ve got an appointment with a psychiatrist next month too!

I’m very glad to here this. Good luck with your psychiatrist appointment.

Well, like I said, much as I’d like to say “Well, I’m better now because of the medication,” as I mentioned, that’s clearly not working out a well (or as long) as I hoped. Either way, I’ve got this psychiatrist appointment now, we’ll see how that goes.

My dad pointed out something intelligent too: his doctor, while a nice guy (if a little odd), is even older than he is. I don’t have a family doctor/GP because I’ve always just used urgent care. This is particularly a shame, because such a person would be ideal to get to know me and recommend a therapist. So he’s suggested trying to find someone a little more in my age bracket, which I think is wise. It also make me a little nervous about this psychiatrist, but who knows? One day at a time is hard when some days are pretty good for the first time in a long time and other have me sliding back to the worse days.

How medicine reacts with alcohol is definitely a question for your doctor.

Definitely look into a combination of therapy/medication. Very important to take a holistic approach to this.

And yeah, if you’re more comfortable with a doctor who’s closer to your age, then definitely look into that as well. It can help as far as relating to them and being open with them goes.

Sounds like you’re taking good steps, keep it up!

Pretty sure the Switch is going to do fine/better than fine. Nintendo isn’t going anywhere. They were on shaky ground for awhile, sure, but I think they’re relearning the post-Microsoft/Sony console market.

As a die-hard PC guy, the Switch is the first console I’ve been actively interested in since the hype for the Xbox 360 (which I didn’t buy) and the first Nintendo console I’ve been actively interested in since the hype for the Gamecube (didn’t get that, either).

JEDIT: I love online gaming because I have a lot of friends who I’ve known for more than half my life now in different countries/states that I love gaming with but can’t just invite over. Also I enjoy competitive play online in games like Battlefield.

What was George Lucas's worst decision with the Star Wars franchise?
Time

I generally agree with a lot of this thread. Burying the OOT is probably the worst thing he’s done.

I think the issue with a Lucas-directed Sequel Trilogy in the 90s-2000s is that there would have been a massive chance to ruin three characters we all love. As it is, he just ruined a bunch of new characters or older characters that change so much by the time of ANH that it doesn’t matter, so all of that can be safely disregarded. With a really bad 90s Sequel Trilogy, we would have just had to deal with the fact that a lot of our favorite characters would have just been trashed.

If Lucasfilm had been more collaborative at the time, I’d have been down with seeing the Big Three back in their primes, but there’s a reason they call those years the Dark Ages.
