Lock him up.

One of the Trump administration’s first decisions about the fight against the Islamic State was made by Michael Flynn weeks before he was fired – and it conformed to the wishes of Turkey, whose interests, unbeknownst to anyone in Washington, he’d been paid more than $500,000 to represent.

The decision came 10 days before Donald Trump had been sworn in as president, in a conversation with President Barack Obama’s national security adviser, Susan Rice, who had explained the Pentagon’s plan to retake the Islamic State’s de facto capital of Raqqa with Syrian Kurdish forces whom the Pentagon considered the U.S.’s most effective military partners. Obama’s national security team had decided to ask for Trump’s sign-off, since the plan would all but certainly be executed after Trump had become president.

Flynn didn’t hesitate. According to timelines distributed by members of Congress in the weeks since, Flynn told Rice to hold off, a move that would delay the military operation for months.

Sounds suspiciously like… uh what’s that word. Hrm. Damn what is it?

Oh right: treason.

DOJ has appointed a Special Counsel in the Russia probe.

Wow, nice pick. It will be tough to criticize him as a torch-wielding liberal. Not that it won’t happen anyway. DOJ Special Counsel is still a little hamstrung, but it’s the best we can hope for in this political climate.

I think so. He still answers to the AG, but it could be worse.

There are so many final nails in the Trump coffin in the last two days that the whole thing is basically nails at this point. Hopefully it’ll sink to the black depths of history where it belongs.

Good. Maybe the Republicans will all stop being massive P U 5 5 Y S and take their party and their dignity back from this sham of a Presidency.

One could argue that legalizing gay marriage and marijuana are conservative standpoints as that means less government limitations on your personal life.

I’ve wondered about that myself. Unfortunately, for some (possibly arbitrary) reason, the Republican party seems to be intertwined with Christianity. I say arbitrary because I have many conservative friends for whom their one gripe with the Republican party is its immersion in religion.

I’ve often wondered what the U.S. would look like if it happened to be the liberals that were embroiled in Christianity.

I prefer to imagine a US with actual separation of church and state.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-revealed-highly-classified-information-to-russian-foreign-minister-and-ambassador/ar-BBBaWuJ

So this is a thing.

President Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting last week, according to current and former U.S. officials, who said Trump’s disclosures jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State.

The information the president relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said.

The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said Trump’s decision to do so endangers cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump’s meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and the National Security Agency.

I don’t even think he’s malicious about it. He’s just a moron who wants to lord things over people.

I’m guessing the number of his supporters that go ballistic and chant “lock him up!” over his mishandling of classified information will be exactly zero.

I wouldn’t call it accidental, given that I decided in HS. It’s not like I won a contest or something.

Jesus Christ man just the way the post was worded was funny do you want to fight me tonight or something dude because I don’t really want to fight.

I’m not the one who ate a donut after we agreed not to.

There was no agreement!

I think he was rooting for WE to take the semi-finalist position in the League of Legends qualifiers happening right now.

He’ll be glad to know that they smashed SKT earlier today, who won the championship last year, so they’re looking like a big mover this year.

The good news about this whole Mensch/Taylor thing is that either they found something huge or we’ll never hear any more predictions from them again. Their entire credibility is riding on this call.

What/who?

I think Tyrphanax may be referring to this news (apologies if incorrect):-

Exactly.

Don’t go there. Louise Mensch is to Bernie fans as Zerohedge is to Trump fans. Storylines their audience wants to believe so much they ignore the shoddy “journalism”. It’s speculative fiction at best. And if one of her “scoops” turns out by sheer coincidence to be true, she’ll be vindicated–rather than just having proved the stopped clock twice a day metaphor.

It’d be nice to think the right had a monopoly on this sort of thing, but they don’t. We have our share of cranks on the left too, they’re just not as well-funded.

Exactly.
