Ion cannons were used on certain ships in the Roque Squadron games. They could momentarily disable certain things like laser cannons. in retrospect, they were actually pretty crappy weapons because it was easier to just hit whatever with actual lasers and freakin blow it up.
You had to use them in the Kessel mission to disable the train transporting Wedge to prison. I think that was the only mission they were available in, actually. It was kinda dumb. Fun to shoot TIEs with it and watch them fall out of the sky and hit the ground though.

This looks really cool, actually. And I don't really like movies!
And yet you frequently post on a movie fansite.
Star Wars is no mere movie, Sir.

And to do that they have to create a DayGlo Mandalorian graffiti artist?
I'm trying to remain cautiously optimistic towards this show, but this is looking more-and-more like a good example of the cure being worse than the disease.
On the surface of it, I'm not all that happy with the character either. But we'll have to wait and see how the character develops over time in the show before passing final judgement.
This is the most important thing. Remember all the Ahsoka hate from TCW. Hell, I didn't even like her. But by the end of the series she belongs in Star Wars more than half of the characters the PT introduced.
Please reference my signature.
Haha, yeah. Terrariums are not something to get into lightly.
After I looked through the galleries, I did see they were planted. Whoops. Sorry.
Nice (and scary) to see you getting the publicity you deserve, Harmy. You rock, keep it up.
I'll probably be burnt at the stake for this, but Darth Revan.
I don't like how he's become something of a "perfect character" thanks to the cult of Revan that's started up since KoTOR, but I've been really attached to him as a character since I played that game.
Don't worry too much about JediTemple.
Yay Gaffer!
Pretty. You should get into planted tanks. I'm seriously considering getting a little one and planting it for the new apartment.
Welcome to 25, Carthage. Just went through that on the 13th.

Best thing about the prequels might just be George finishing (To a greater or lesser degree) the Sound and VisFX for the deleted scenes. I wish all big CGI event movies would do this for their deleted scenes. In fact the extras packages on the original PT DVDs were excellent.
Agreed.

Uh huh...well the EU declaring it a galaxy is indeed dumb. AOTC itself never clarifies what it is.
No kidding. Jesus.
I think you guys mean the Macgeo cover.

How many B actors have their own line of clothing? ;)
Used to walk into R&W up here in Calgary to look around.
Then I realized I was surrounded by Hayden's face. Scary.

Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Councilor (2013)
This film is why Tyler Perry shouldn't make movies. Terrible acting (Kim Kardashian can't even play herself); terrible one-name (one-name characters and the title? Sounds like Cinemax porn to me), one-dimension, stupidly-motivated, incredibly braindead characters (especially the lead); a predictable and obvious plot twist with a shoehorned reveal in a character's monologue; a tedious, drawn-out, sluggish plot; all stuffed to the gills with incredibly ham-fisted religious parables and metaphors in a wannabe-intelligent and clever, "hey do you get it yet?" fashion. If you decide to watch this, watch the first ten minutes or so and then skip to the last fifteen minutes or so.I listed to the Flophouse Podcast on it the other day. Hard to believe this movie exists.
Hahaha, I love how they open it with the exact same Cinemax correlation.
Seriously, though, that podcast is exactly how the movie was. All the dialogue they riffed on was so much worse than what they said. The movie could EASILY have been half an hour long.
So awful.
So! As I said before, the girlfriend and I have been watching the James Bond films since she hasn't seen them before. Finally slogged through Roger Moore. I've never really realized how tiring it was to sit through all of that; yeesh. I can't believe he was James Bond from the early seventies to the mid-eighties. I would probably go insane if I was locked into a role that long.
Quick recap of my thoughts on the films up to now: Connery was golden until he got tired near the end. I enjoy Never Say Never Again, but it's no Thunderball. The actors are great, though.
Moore's reign went on way too long. Early stuff was good, but he's just so old by the end; however, the later films are definitely more complex and interesting, Octopussy has some great characters, as does A View To A Kill.
I'm excited to see what she thinks of Dalton.
Besides that, we've been on a court movie kick lately, except for:
Captain America: The Winter Solider (2014)
Finally got around to watching this. Loved it. My girlfriend and I were just discussing upon leaving Guardians of the Galaxy that it's great how different the MCU films are. Going from Iron Man to Guardians to Winter Soldier will give you a totally different experience from Hulk to Thor to Avengers, and I love that.
As for Winter Soldier, it was great. Definitely more of an intrigue spy thriller than all-out action. Cap really grew, Winter Soldier was great and appropriately handled, and Maria Hill and Nick Fury were also fantastic and grew a lot. What annoyed me was Black Widow, who I felt was castrated and lost a lot of character. They always have to develop female characters into vulnerable piles of goop and it's just meh. Other than that, she had good moments and I loved the film.
Four out of five Troublemun.
Runaway Jury (2003)
I've seen this before. It's a great movie, I think. I love the tension at the end and the twist. I like that it creeps up on you and you're allowed to realize it as the characters do and it's not obvious halfway in. It's got a great cast, too, but I would like it a lot more without the wanky anti-gun message it drools all over itself.
6.5 out of 12 jurors.
A Few Good Men (1992)
For me, at least, this is one of those movies that you know about, but have never seen.
It was great, though. I love courtroom movies that are quick and snappy like that, and there were lots of moments where I couldn't help but shout "OOO BURN" when Tom Cruise nailed a particularly revealing line of questioning. Lots of then big-names and now big-names as well. Definitely deserving of its place as a classic.
4.5 out of 5 unhandled truths.

I like the tench look. It's kinda Deckard, kinda Endor, kinda cowboy. Feels very Han to me.
We're totally going to Hoth.
Yeah buddy! Great minds...
Definitely went to Deckard over Firefly. A nod to Blade Runner that I'm totally down with.

Idk if this was discussed elsewhere, but my dad was asking me....and i thought you guys might know. when george handed the keys to the star wars car over to disney and jj abrams, did he give them his original story to follow, or did he just tell them to do whatever? does he have any creative input at this point? i should know more, but have been too busy to really follow this.
Thanks for any info.:)
Part of the deal were Lucas' drafts for Episodes VII, VIII, and IX. Lucas is also helping production in an advisory capacity, but I'm sure his drafts have been edited extensively, and Lucas has no creative control in his role as adviser.
Hear hear, Puggo.
Saw one yesterday that said "Name a City Without the Letter 'A' in it". There are thousands. It's ridiculous.
To add to your list, there's that whole idiotic "clickbait" news headline fad, too, "you won't believe what happened when X did Y!" that so many places are using now to drive traffic to their site. Following enticing titles like that is how people used to get viruses, and now I see at least ten of those a day shared by people. It's so transparent and stupid.
