Star Wars Canon EU (potential spoilers)

But how will we ever know if Vader or Boba are feeling emotions if they’re not having an anime-style meltdown!

Subtle emotions are for pretentious artfilm jerks! That’s why adding that “No!” to Vader at the end of Jedi was a masterstroke, now we really know how he felt instead of just guessing like a bunch of idiots!

I hate people who go around claiming certain mental disorders aren’t real.

“ADHD, ADD, Apergers, all fucking nonsense.”

Yeah, okay, go let the actual scientists and psychologists know that you; Isaac Plumbo the burger flipper, figured it all out.

Of course they are real, but when a child is doing random shit and not doing his homework, doesn’t mean he has ADHD, which most parents immediately think.

My friend is a psychologist. He has parents come to him all the time with their kids who are failing all their classes and they want a paper about ADD or ADHD, but in reality, the kids are just lazy brats.

And this is true for 90% of people who tell you they have ADD, ADHD, OCD or some other disorder like that. And that’s bullshit, because that then just cements the idea that people with those disorders are just lazy fakers more.

Not sure about 90%, but I will say that ADHD is probably overdiagnosed. And there’s also a problem with people diagnosing themselves with something for attention. But to say that these things just straight up don’t exist is ridiculous.

This.

I don’t think there was ever any onscreen evidence he hung around the DS later in the movie anyway?

Nope. There’s not really any evidence that any of them do, to be honest. Aside from Tarkin and Bast, and I think maybe we see Yularen near the elevators when Han and Luke are beginning the prison break.

But there’s still plenty of time for everyone to escape, even Bast.

Reviving from the kind of dead for this little exciting bit of news for the beloved Star Wars™ Battlefront™ by EA DICE™!
The brand new Bespin DLC brings back 2 new iconic characters from the beloved Original Trilogy: Lando Calrissian with his absolutely bitchin’ cape that I always wanted as a kid and the famous bounty hunter Dengar (I think he appeared in ESB for maybe 20 seconds)!

The best news about this is that Billy Dee is doing the voice over for Lando.

Someone is posting the first draft of the Jurassic Park script on Facebook!

Many pages! Lots of action!

The Rex breaks things, Nedry gets his (less graphically and more quickly), Grant and the kids run a lot, Muldoon, Ellie, and Gennaro pick up the pieces, while Malcolm tells everyone about the boat and we’re about to learn why everything went to hell.

It’s interesting that everyone’s learned about the boat already. In the book, there’s a race against time for Grant and the kids to get back to the control room to tell everyone before the boat lands. I feel like the script is going to take it in the direction that everyone is too stubborn to believe that it’s happening. I guess the trick here is that the boat has the DNA and nobody knows about it yet. I’m interesting to see what happens with the first batch that Nedry got off the island already, that’s a really interesting plot point.

The Rex chasing Grant and the kids is a new thing, and it’s interesting but I feel like it’s a bit unrealistic, and I feel like the jeep chase from the film is much more exciting. I also enjoyed the book’s cruel description of Nedry’s demise much better, as he really deserved it for being scummy. At least the dilophasaurus is the right size and doesn’t have the goofy frill.

I sort of get the impression that the Emperor lost faith in guys like Tarkin after the first Death Star fiasco, and gave Vader more autonomy.

I agree.

One of the things I liked a lot about the new Marvel comics run is that Vader was on the Emperor’s bad side for surviving the Death Star’s destruction, and so the Emperor put him under the command of Commander Tagge (who you’ll remember as the “Until this battlestation is fully operational, we are vulnerable” guy from the Death Star conference room), who left the Death Star “to be with his precious fleet” before it was destroyed. There’s an interesting dynamic there that I enjoy, where Tagge is very tactical and takes the Rebellion seriously and is a bit arrogant having been proven right about the Rebels and the Death Star, and I like the idea of Vader having to re-earn his way back into the Emperor’s good graces, plus a lot of those characters have been criminally underused and ignored through the years.
