I’ve only recently gotten into comics (within the past year) and you gotta admit that some of the female art is absolutely ridiculously exploitative. I mean when you have She-Hulk in the middle of dressing not three pages after her friend dematerializes all of her clothes, you gotta wonder.

That said, I do still enjoy my comics. Immature with goofy art, sure, but I wouldn’t discount them as garbage because of that.

Yeah they just started up the artillery here.

It’s funny because I usually tune that stuff out, so I didn’t realize it was probably fireworks for awhile. Living close to an air base with lots of live fire training means it sounds like a warzone most of the time.

Then I wondered: “what happened if there was an invasion and I wasn’t paying attention?”

WRONG (no?) PICTURE

I said in my post that I’d seen most of the Ghibli films. Totoro, Kiki’s, Nausicaa, Mononoke, Howl’s, Fireflies, and CatBus(hah!). I might be forgetting one or two.

They are boring. Even when I was into anime.

Is boring better than the other stuff?

And see the other links.

I really don’t give a fuck about the links. Please stop pushing them.

I might have been interested in their non-anime content had you done anything but continually shove them in our faces, even after people expressed disinterest in them, and without providing any sort of summary of the content or reason why they should be listened to. People don’t respond well to someone saying “just do it” with no reason.

Duracell, you need to resize your sig image. Thanks!

Hopefully this doesn’t come off as condescending, just trying to be helpful!

I’m not sure I like it this way. Scaling it just makes it harder to read. Cropping it alone cut off too much. Let me know if you want me to try cropping as well as scaling.

Yeah but the minority also sucks.

Probably not.

I’ve seen Full Metal Alchemist (both), I’ve seen Inuyasha, I’ve seen Naruto, I’ve seen Pokemon and Digimon, I’ve seen Samurai Pizza Cats, Monster Rancher, Escaflowne, Speed Racer, Voltron, G-Force, Dragon Ball Z, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, most of the Ghibli stuff, Paranoia Agent, Ghost in the Shell, Trigun, the Kerberos Saga, Evangelion, Medabots, and probably dozens more full series as well as a few episodes of other shows. Like I said, I went through a phase.

As an adult today, they’re not good.

Is that show gonna cost me money? I was all excited about that show from Wash and Captain Tightpants, until I found out it was something I had to pay Vimeo for (despite the Kickstarter campaign that should have covered it).

It shouldn’t from what I’ve seen. Who knows what they’ll do once the time comes. I mean they raised 6.3 million dollars, which is insane.

The most offensive things in this thread is the continued use of “emoji” and the word “titty”.

The English language has developed for thousands of years and the best people can do is revert to pictograms and a third grade word to describe breasts.

Also: Sex as an achievement. Allol.

Me when I see a big ol’ titty

I swear to god I will come down on you like a hammer, Jeebus. Simpsonswave notwithstanding.

Putting on my serious face for a second, I have actually seen no anime, except maybe a couple episodes of Pokemon years ago if that counts. But I have less than zero interest in it, so… Knock yourselves out if you like it.

Watch the first 3 minutes of this, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qd0i5KR4hIM , and if you aren’t hooked, anime doesn’t fit you.

That’s not true. Not liking one story doesn’t mean you’ll hate every story ever told.
I don’t like that Fullmeatal show, but I loved Cowboy Bebop.
Also, if someone has no interest in something, why try shoving it on them? I have friends with zero interest in Star Wars, and I’ve got no plans to make them watch it.

I agree, but I’m seeing from this guy’s point of view. He hates anime because he saw some episodes of Pokemon.

Why? Overhype? Sucky second half?

Conversation.

I dunno. Never watched Pokymon. Haven’t seen much anime. Most of what I’ve seen is terrible because the characters are so over-the-top that it’s silly. The “shouty” dialog is lame and corny. That’s the standard style. I know not all of 'em are like that (I’ve mentioned liking Cowboy Bebop), but the majority are. Also, the majority of anime deals with subject matter that hasn’t interested me since I was 8. I mean no offense.

Ray gets it.

The Place to Go for Emotional Support
Time

Vent away, that’s why we’re here.

I’m happy that your family is so supportive and open about these things. Family histories of depression are so often swept under the rug with a nice coating of “suck it up” advice, or even just ignored totally.

Keep on fighting, keep on looking for that OCD specialist (at least try to get a quick consultation with one, like I said, just to get a sense of what they think), keep trying to get away from your rituals.

I think you’re doing well. It most definitely is like swimming up a waterfall, and that’s an apt descriptor. Another good analogy I heard years back and have adopted is that depression (or really any type of psychological/addictive obstacle to overcome) is like standing in front of a brick wall that’s a million feet high. It’s daunting to look at from ground level and you’ll want to give up before you even start, but you have to climb it, and to do that, you have to take it one brick at a time. Focus on getting past one brick, then the next, then the next. Don’t worry about the whole wall, just worry about the brick in front of you. It may not feel like you’re making progress when every brick looks the same, sure you may slide back down a couple bricks once in awhile, but eventually you’ll reach the top. From where I’m standing, you’ve gotten a pretty good distance up that wall, so keep going.

As much as I think Nationalism is a dangerous religion the American people have furnished the world with great philosophy, fine cuisine, beautiful and valuable art, generous charitable contributions and some of the nicest people I have ever met.
It is gifted with landscape of astonishing epic sweep and grandeur and I wish all American’s reading this a very happy collective birthday.
I still hope for an Independence day for my home patch, not for the flag or the dancing or the other local oddities but just to bring democracy closer to home.
Every country has an unfortunate aspect to it and hopefully you will give that a moment’s thought too while the red rockets glare.
Keep your pets in and handle your gunpowder safely and let the festivities be fun.

Well written, and thank you.

It’s strange to think that just 243 years ago, my namesake was dumping tea into a harbour, and now here we are.

I don’t like to think of myself as a Nationalist, because I think that Nationalism is a disease that has caused a lot of strife in the last hundred years or so, but I do like to think of myself as a Patriot. I like the ideals of the country and what it’s meant to stand for. At the same time, it’s not a perfect country (stepping back and being objective, I wouldn’t even call it the “best”. Not that I could tell you what the “best” country is, but America is certainly near the top of the list) and there is a lot of work to do to hit those ever-moving goalposts. It’s worth it, though.
