At this point I really hope impscum is just trolling. Because, if not, he must live a very sad life. His dedication to “truth” and “facts” leave him missing out on the subtleties of genuine human interactions. If he thinks this makes him better than others he’s a whole hell of a lot dumber than he thinks he is. Must be a truly lonely existence.

He is one of Nature’s truly amazing accomplishments.

I mean, to be fair, what could possibly be gained by conversing with lower-life forms? It’s really his burden for him to be alone, surrounded by the mentally inept.

We should pity him, really.

I don’t think there is an issue, really. Jeebus just made an offhand remark that could be (and was taken) badly, then didn’t understand how it could be taken badly because “shit” is a word people throw around to refer to almost anything these days (I know I do) and he didn’t intend for it to be insulting (and it’s kinda hard to identify what you did wrong when you don’t feel like you did anything wrong).

It was explained and now we’re all good.

Since it’s 99% certain that OtakuWarrior is a sock of HansiG, will HansiG’s temp ban be upgraded to a permanent ban?

OtakuWarrior joined a day before HansiG got banned. Can that be chalked up to timezone fuckery?

Why was Hansi banned anyway?

He made an image-only post outside of off-topic.

Edit: Frink you bully.

Jeebus…is that some Christian shit?

I would interpret that as asking if my name has something to do with Christianity, or is a reference to Chrstianity. And I would reply “no, it’s in part a Simpsons reference, and also an inside joke I had with my friends.”

Is the issue with the word shit? Because I could’ve used stuff, if you prefer.

If you just stepped in dog poo, you wouldn’t say:

I stepped in some dog facile matter.

You might say:

I stepped in some dog shit.

Some contexts are different than others. Saying ‘shit’ in front of a religion name is incredibly offensive. So, yes, I would prefer that you say ‘stuff.’

Okay, so the issue was with ‘shit’.

I didn’t mean it that way, I guess I’m just very loose with my swear words.

Yeah, this is what I assumed happened. Just a slip.

I wonder if “that Hebrew shit” might have been clearly offensive to certain people who are Jewish?

I see no way that it could’ve been offensive. yhwx is incredibly close to the Hebrew name for God, so I asked if his name was ‘Hebrew shit’.

Clearly I can’t explain it to you. As a Jew, I was offended.

Yeah, regardless of what you might have meant, Jeebus, I don’t think using the word “shit” in that context was the right choice. Kinda like saying “oh is that some black person shit?” Shit is generally used to refer to bad things.

I doubt it was intentional, but it was a poor choice.

“Gay” used to just mean “happy” in English. Now it doesn’t. Language is fluid.

Gay still means happy in addition to now more common informal use for homosexual person.

Moron was originally defined as a psychology term for “a person of mild mental retardation” in certain IQ range. While the new informal meaning doesn’t relate to the technical term in psychology, it still means stupid person nevertheless.

Does society at large use either of those words in that context anymore? Not really.

Nevertheless, unlike “gay”, “moron” in the new context has almost identical meaning as the original definition.

I’ve never seen it used in a psychological context in my life. I don’t think anyone does. I didn’t even know that’s where the word originated before today.

I guess you could probably trace all insults to the intelligence to a time that they were meant to refer to those with mental disabilities (in either a derogatory or psychological context), but, again, language is a fluid thing.

Yeah, I’m not using Firefox or Adblock Plus.

Why do you always think everyone is talking directly to you?

That doesn’t mean that I can’t respond in a person to person manner.

If something said in a public forum doesn’t apply to you, why respond? You added nothing of value to the conversation.

It’s like jumping into a conversation between two strangers on the street to say “Oh yeah, that doesn’t apply to me”. What purpose does it serve?
