Not to mention “Has Don Henley ever been in your kitchen?”
I got a picture of him in mine:
How’s the arson investigation going?

I’m pretty excited to dig into all these new drummer/singer-related threads.
Wait, don’t we need another thread for the songs where he’s drumming AND singing?
Excellent point.
And how does Peter Gabriel fit in to all this?
Well we’ll need another Genesis thread then, to discuss his time in the band. Maybe we could also have one to discuss his time in the band with Collins, and another for his solo career, of course.
What about Mike + The Mechanics?
Same as above!
I think we could also have two Phil Collins’ threads, one for discussing his career in Genesis and one for discussing his solo career. Maybe we could expand that into another thread for discussing his drumming and another for discussing his singing.
I’ll take it!
The 60s were weird.
70s
Damn. I was waffling between the two and took a shot.
Early 70s, at least?
The 60s were weird.
The algorithm more or less “listens” (there are a lot of different ways to do this, but it works similarly to how Cortana or Siri work) to the file and then matches what it “hears” to the sound of words it knows.
It seems to swing towards political and news stuff, so those are probably things it hears a lot so it favors those.
Neglify please ban yourself.
Thank you.
I’d actually be interested to see a graph measuring Pokemon fans outside time before and after Pokemon Go and whether being outside remains a trend as the game’s novelty wears off.
Augmented reality games are a very interesting thing, and I think we’re going to be seeing a lot more of them as times goes on, especially with the multi-billion-dollar success that is Pokemon Go.
What will also be interesting will be the way the rest of society comes to terms with games like these and the distraction aspect.
If only Hansi was still here to make a hilarious Markdown post which consists entirely of the same thing the OP posted.
Anyone who does so in this thread is a confirmed Hansi sock and should be immediately banned.
So I recently plowed through Agents of SHIELD (I took a break to focus on school about halfway through season 2) and I have to say, it’s a very strong show.
The first half of the first season is a bit slow, but once everyone gets their intro episodes and it hits Winter Soldier territory, it really picks up. In fact, it never really stopped picking up from then through Season 3. I didn’t expect half the twists they served up throughout the first three seasons.
They do a fantastic job of making you feel something for the characters, as well. Skye develops incredibly throughout the show, as does Grant, the departure of two characters is an incredibly emotional episode, and some of the romances you really root for, some of the allies you truly love and cheer their return or feel sorry for their deaths. And they do just as good a job with the bad guys. By the end of season one, I hated one character; by the end of season two, I despised them; and by season three I somehow hated them even more. Some of the bad guys you even like or redeem themselves. I feel like the acting is generally really good from the whole cast.
It’s got its share of goofy bits and slow episodes, and there are definitely moments when you think “Uh… shouldn’t they call in the Avengers on this one?” but it really is very worth a watch when you have the time, even if just for the interesting context and background it gives to the movies.
Immediately after Agents of SHIELD, I picked up the first season of Daredevil, which is also a lot of fun. It’s totally different from Agents in terms of subject matter (Agents is very network TV-friendly, whereas Daredevil is definitely much more adult-oriented) and it feels generally very distant from the rest of the MCU (aside from Jessica Jones, which I’ll get to in a bit), but it’s still very much a superhero show, and people definitely have superhuman abilities and there are references to the MCU, it’s just a tighter focus on a different part of that universe. My biggest complaint is the handling of a big-name Marvel character like Ben Urich in terms of the direction he takes in season one. Aside from that, it’s a very good show on its own merit, outside of being “just a superhero show” and it kicks a ton of ass in incredibly brutal and visceral ways.
I’m currently heading through the first season of Jessica Jones, as I’ve heard that there are cameos from Jones in season two of Daredevil (I’ve already noticed officer Mahoney from Daredevil in Jones), and if Daredevil is for adults, Jessica Jones is really for adults. It’s incredibly dark, vulgar, intoxicant-fueled, and there’s an awful lot of sex (though that seems to slow down as the season progresses and the darkness and complexity increases). It’s a fantastic show though, and I don’t know if there are more complex and confusing villains than the Purple Man. Plus Luke Cage is in it and says “Sweet Christmas” at least twice. Definitely worth a watch if you can stomach the super darkness of it. It does start slower than the other shows (I feel), but at least watch up until episode 8, because shit gets very real then. I’ve had to take a break from it, in fact, because I’m just drained from the drama.
The depth and complexity of the characters (especially the villains) in these shows really makes me kinda wish that the entire MCU had been high-budget series’ like these. So many huge villains were almost criminally underused and then killed off in two hours in the movies, where as TV villains like the Purple Man and some of the ones in Agents are so much more developed and complex that you don’t know who’s side is the right side sometimes. Marvel is killing it on the small screen.
Always save money!
Homework definitely counts.
Whoops, I clicked on the Episode VI Revisited thread acciden-oh, no I didn’t.
You didn’t pick up the phone.
My fore-mentioned pal who had heart attack/stroke in India flew back a couple of days ago. He keeps getting my name wrong and thinks I live in Broccoli or Italy but we shared an ice-cream and I got him to try and scribble with both hands which considering the stroke damage was quite something.(he is a fine artist/sculpture so hopefully he will recover some of that ability).
He will soon be moved to specialist stroke unit but it’s nice to see him still alive and sort of himself. He’s lost a bit of weight and looks less stressed too.Good thoughts sent to you and your friend Bingo for a full recovery.
Ditto.
Start up the Kickstarters and try to find the communities for those films! Post links all over!
Frink and I have something in common.
His wife.
Happy birthday. Sorry if this qualifies as “special treatment”.
Lord Haseo: You have to throw that bullshit worldview of yours straight into the dumpster, because it’s a bunch of crap. Do what you do and be satisfied with it.
Resign yourself to the bottom rung?
Didn’t I, didn’t I, didn’t I see you crying?
When I hear that song, yes.
Every time I hear “I want you… to want… me!” on the radio, I want to punch myself in the head until I can’t feel anymore.
There are a metric shitload of decision points that people pass by before they hit the abortion one at the very, very end of that line.
People don’t go out to have an abortion for fun. They’re either being let down along the line of decision making by themselves and/or our (frankly shit) sexual education system, or there are complications with the pregnancy and it is deemed to be in the best interest of all parties to terminate. The point is that there are reasons, and as Frink said, the later it happens, most likely the more valid the reasons.
It needs to be allowed for the above reasons, but I’ll make it clear that nobody actually wants to have to go through that process.
It was me in the foyer with the gun.
Thanks Frink.
