If the OT was about absent fathers I think this one should be about absent mothers.
Both are mythical tropes and it would be interesting to explore the Star Wars universe from a more female perspective.
In my opinion, there would need to be some 'closure' regarding Leia and her father - whom she only ever knew as Darth Vader - before the Luke coming to terms with mother thing. ROTJ, in my opinion, glossed over the whole matter.
