and never the TellTale shite.

Dude, no. If you actually care about storytelling, Tales from the Borderlands beats the pants off everything Gearbox has ever done with the franchise. Tales is an awesome Sci-fi buddy road trip adventure across Pandora.

Truth be told, I’m a big fan of Monkey Island. So I spent quite a long time hanging around the Telltale forums (much like we do here) starting from about the time Tales of Monkey Island came out. But then it became clear that Telltale is only interested in chasing the almighty dollar, and not in keeping their fanbase happy. I and several others left after they changed their forums to a reddit-style “community”.

My story is similar, though I came in when they first announced Sam & Max. I was also among those that downvoted Bruner when he forced the forum change. But I still follow the company as while I don’t have faith in the management I still appreciate a lot of the devs that still work there. And TFTB has thus far been their last great hurrah. I highly recommend it, even to people who know nothing about Borderlands. It just has that much wide appeal.

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

Wow. Adywan, what you’ve been able to accomplish here is unprecedented. I’m finding it hard to put into words how spectacular what I just watched was. Just the thought of all of the years of dedication and hard work that you’ve put into this is staggering.

The sheer scope of this project is brilliantly illuminated once the Revisited Credits come up and you see the names of the people in all three units, spread across two continents, who you brought together to realize this vision. It’s incredible.

And after all these long years it’s finally done and proved it was well worth all of the effort. I was elated when I saw the finished replacement hangar matte but after witnessing the revisited battle of Hoth I had to pause the film and collect myself. It’s mind-boggling how much more coherent and visceral the battle is now. You can finally get a real sense of the scope of it. The utter desperation of the Alliance as its overrun by the unrelenting Empire!

Bravo, Adywan. Bravo!

Star Wars &quot;Official&quot; Canon Content Thread
Time

005 Seems hung up on the whole marriage to Luke angle where I think most who want Mara Jade would be happy with her back in her Emperor’s Hand days. I don’t really care either way, I haven’t read enough of her stories to get a real feel for the character.

Now if there’s one set of characters who SHOULD be re-canonized, it’s Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors. Just leave them as mercenaries, no need for all that Force user business. 😉

The Hallow (2015)

Had never heard of this film before today. Just happened to stumble upon it and I’m glad I did. This was director Corin Hardy’s debut and what a debut it is. The film is a surprisingly well done exploration of real Irish folklore in a modern context. Everything from the script, the performances, the cinematography and effects are executed with perfection. It’s a real shame this was never released theatrically stateside, I think it would have done very well. If you’re looking for a new horror/monster film to check out, I highly recommend it!

I was initially excited at the prospects of expanding Star Wars with a constant stream of new movies, but they just keep milking the same cows over and over again.

Are you from the future? Because at present we’ve only had two films released, one of which was a spin-off starring all new characters.

The only other announced spin-off is the film you’re currently lambasting sight unseen.

We have no idea what the third spin-off is nor do we know if they plan to continue with the saga films or decide to retire them for a few years.

So I’m at a loss to figure out how they’ve continued “milking the same cows.”

‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Gets a New Writer

Star Wars: Episode IX is getting a rewrite.

Jack Thorne, the British scribe who wrote the upcoming Julia Roberts-Jacob Tremblay movie Wonder, has been tapped to work on the Star Wars installment that is to be directed by Colin Trevorrow.

Trevorrow and his writing partner, Derek Connolly, have been working on the script, but sources say a fresh set of eyes was needed. It is unclear how extensive the rewrites will be.

Rian Johnson wrote and directed Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth installment of the sci-fi fantasy that opens Dec. 15.

Force Awakens stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac are expected to return — but you never know who a Star Wars movie may kill off, so don’t get too comfortable — with the ninth installment eyeing a production start in January 2018.

The movie has a scheduled release date of May 24, 2019.

Thorne is the creator or co-creator of several British television shows, dramas and thrillers, including The Fades, The Cast-Offs, The Last Panthers and National Treasure.

While those don’t sound like the Star Wars wheelhouse, his writing on two more recent programs brings him closer: His Dark Materials, BBC’s adaptation of the fantasy by Philip Pullman, and Philip K. Dick’s Electric Sheep for Channel 4.

BREAKING: Nicholas Meyer Working on Khan Limited TV Series

Writer-director Nicholas Meyer became a Star Trek icon in 1982 when he directed (and for the most part wrote) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, the low-budget follow-up to the first Star Trek movie from 1979, which was a box office hit but which cost so much to make that Paramount elected to follow it up with a smaller picture produced by their television division.

Khan had everything 1979’s Star Trek: The Motion Picture lacked: action, acting histrionics, and the warm and often amusing character interplay between Kirk (William Shatner), Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and McCoy (Deforest Kelley). The sequel earned about what the first movie had, on approximately a quarter of its budget, setting the template for further Star Trek movies. Meyer returned to co-write the most popular entry in the series, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, and he directed and co-wrote the final movie featuring the original series cast, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

More recently, Meyer has been involved as a writer on the new Star Trek series for CBS All Access, Star Trek Discovery. But according to two separate sources, Meyer is moving on from that position for a new Star Trek project, something he has hinted at in recent interviews. According to the sources, Meyer’s new project takes him back to Khan Noonien Singh, the “genetically superior” villain played by Ricardo Montalban in the original series episode “Space Seed” and in The Wrath of Khan, and by Benedict Cumberbatch in the J.J. Abrams-helmed Star Trek Into Darkness. Meyer will reportedly be developing a prequel miniseries, or limited series that would take place on Ceti Alpha V and chronicle Khan and his followers struggling to survive in the years between when Kirk dropped him off on the planet at the end of “Space Seed” and when the crew of the U.S.S. Reliant finds them early in The Wrath of Khan.

Granite Flats (2013-2015)

Saw this series pop up as a suggestion on Netflix on more than one occasion. Decided to give it a go. So glad I did. What seems like a simple premise quickly escalates in scope and stakes throughout the first season. The second season continues this, introducing new facets and characters played by the likes of Cary Elwes and the brilliant Christopher Lloyd! Season Three, while it wasn’t meant to cap the series, does so admirably. If you’re a fan of mystery and intrigue or hold a fascination with '60s era conspiracy, I highly recommend you give this series a chance.

Sounds interesting. Any similarity to Taken?

Oof, haven’t seen that in over a decade. From what I recall of Taken, Granite Flats is similar in the amount of intrigue but with far less adult themes while being far more grounded. Also different subject matter.

JOHN POWELL TO SCORE UNTITLED HAN SOLO MOVIE

Composer John Powell, who may be best known for his memorable soundtracks to the Matt Damon Bourne series, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda (1 and 2), and How to Train Your Dragon (1 and 2), will be lifting the baton to score the upcoming young Han Solo movie, due in theaters next year.

Powell, a London native, has written music for dozens of films since moving to the US in 1997, earning an Academy Award nomination for his stirring score to How to Train Your Dragon. Powell is only the third composer to be welcomed into the exclusive family of Star Wars live-action music writers, which includes the legendary John Williams (the eight Skywalker saga movies) and Michael Giacchino, who scored last December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The untitled Han Solo movie will be scored in the style of the original Star Wars movies but retain Powell’s distinctive voice.

The untitled young Han Solo movie, which is being directed by Ron Howard, will be released on May 25, 2018.
