Ugh, the Babadook was such a disappointment for me.
Ugh, the Babadook was such a disappointment for me.
Thankfully my Australian release of Enemy Mine came with a reverse cover without the giant rating logo on it.
I think there’d be a lot less confusion in here if people adopted a five star rating system. ¬_¬
Well it needs the brand name for recognition from the general public. What it doesn’t need is that ridiculously clumsy subtitle. I really don’t understand why they didn’t go with the simple Star Wars: Rogue One, Star Wars: Solo naming convention. Probably because they wanted to differentiate between the episodic titles and the standalones but I don’t think that’s at all necessary.
Be Kind Rewind (2008)
Hadn’t seen this in…probably a decade. Still as charming as ever!
…championing this film as some innovative landmark
I don’t recall anyone doing anything of the sort in this thread. Especially since no one has seen it yet.
All I need is one more standalone set pre-SW and I can successfully pretend they’re episodes I-III.
It’s a nice moment but I’m in favor of cutting it. They were standing right by each other in the map scene and then the very next scene she’s wearing a new outfit, so time has passed. You’re telling me Poe wouldn’t seek out the girl that Finn just almost died trying to rescue? And to top it off he’s in the front of the crowd that sends off Rey as she leaves the base.
I understand that it’s something that Rian wanted to include to make up for one of Abrams many slips but it doesn’t make sense in context. It’s something that should have happened in TFA, even the novelization of TFA had them meet at this time:
“The map.” Rey could only stare in wonder as her eyes wandered over a shining, resplendent portrayal of a substantial portion of the galaxy. “It’s the whole map!”
“Artoo!” C-3PO’s tone was that of a proud relative complimenting a member of his family. “Artoo, you’ve done it!”
Cheers and spontaneous embraces filled the room with so much joy that no one paid any attention to who was hugging what representative of whichever species. Rey and Poe were not excluded, though their sudden, tight clinch of shared excitement led to a moment of mutual awkwardness.
“Uh, hi,” the pilot mumbled. “I’m Poe.”
She nodded slowly, searching his face and finding that she liked it. “I recognize the name. So you’re Poe. Poe Dameron, the X-wing pilot. I’m Rey.”
“I know.” He smiled back, a little more at ease. “Nice to meet you.”
Which is now non-canon and a really weird slip-up for the Story Group to make.
What? All this talk of good Jim Carrey movies and no one brings up The Majestic!
By the way, if that’s Malla I will love this movie to the end of my days.
That trailer was great! Far better than the teaser which left me uneasy.
A Quiet Place (2018)
What a fantastic sophomore entry for John Krasinki as a director. I had no idea he directed this until the end credits. A solid modern creature feature.
The second is one of my favorite movies of all time, I even got S.S. Wilson to autograph my blu-ray copy. But “people” generally consider it worse than the first.
Short Circuit (1986) - Amusing if slight story. Doesn’t do much to make me care all that much about anything going on. Cool robot I guess. C
We can’t be friends.
The back-up stories may or may not be canon. But apparently the main stories are?
Is there a Video game that has the look and atmosphere of…Sci-fi - Horror Movies from the 50s
There’s THE DEADLY TOWER OF MONSTERS the premise of which is the game is actually a 1950s Sci-Fi film and the director is recording the commentary track as you play. I own it but haven’t given it a go yet.
There was I WAS AN ATOMIC MUTANT a budget title from 2003, that had an amazing soundtrack…and that was pretty much it.
And finally there are the classics ROCKET RANGER and IT CAME FROM THE DESERT from Cinemaware.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard you with a positive opinion of anything, so that’s not saying much.
Here’s My List.
Journey to the Center of the Earth. In 4D!
I’m going to assume you mean this version to make Frink cry:
Added trailer for:
The Darkest Minds
What was the last movie Nic Cage was in that was actually good? Seems he’s been in nothing but schlock since the mid '00s.
I don’t know about you but I’m looking forward to checking these out as soon as I get a chance:
An Army of One (2016)
Mom and Dad (2018)
The Humanity Bureau (2018)
Wow. That’s highly offensive to any other film series. Michael Bay projects are a special level of awful all unto themselves.
Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018)
A pretty fun ride. It’s not quite as good as the first but I commend them for staying true to the spirit of the original. The only thing that really drags it down is their reliance on the kid genius trope toward the beginning. Thankfully it’s not overdone and the rest of the film carries its own weight. Hopefully Guillermo will return if they decide to do a third entry.
