If George Lucas won't allow public screenings of the unaltered original trilogy...
Time

Hmm, well I was there at Celebration IV, there probably were screenings but I don't remember them or going to any of them. Celebration V last year had the digital projection screenings I mentioned in my other post. Celebration I was in 1999, II in 2002, III in 2005, IV in 2007 and then V was last year. I was surprised to hear the announcement about the next one in 2012, wasn't expecting it so soon.

Eh, well I think back at Celebration V they used the '04 master. Yes it was at a convention but it was projected in HD using professional equipment on a gigantic screen. Fantastic resolution, you could see their pores. I'm still not sure where that video was from though, unfortunately they held their screenings late at night so I couldn't stay to watch them as walking back to our hotel would have been a nightmare. But I did catch a bit of ANH and I swear Luke's blade was white on the Falcon.

Revenge Of The Cut - Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith (* unfinished project *)

That's the other part of your reasoning I don't understand. All through out the original trilogy Vader is a very angry dude who often lashes out in violence. That does not sound like an emotionless machine.

The only thing I can figure is you're basing this all on the line, "He's more machine now than man." But that's not the entirety of the line, the whole this is: "He's more machine now than man, twisted and evil." Again not something that describes an emotionless robot.

You're leaving the preceding line out of the equation: "It seems in your anger you killed her." Following that up with, "It no longer has any meaning for me." Doesn't make sense or sound right. Going back to your original point, the word "it" is still a very personal word. "It" is directly addressing the situation, "that" is an impersonal brushing off of the subect.

Yes but he's not saying "it doesn't matter." That's an entirely different sentence than "It no longer has any meaning for me." Now read these examples out loud and tell me which sounds better:

"It no longer has any meaning for me. Now I know the power of the dark side."

"That no longer has any meaning for me. Now I know the power of the dark side."

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)

'Cgi Yoda is a superior effect!?'

How is a cartoon a better effect than a practical effect? Puppet Yoda requires actual work, as opposed to sitting on your arse doing nothing and occasionally clicking.

Yeah sure using a puppet may be a pain in the arse and may take time and a lot of effort, but that effort will actually show up on screen.

To be fair, they were discussing the replacement of the Episode I Yoda. They at the same time made it clear that they felt the original trilogy puppet Yoda was the real deal and that it could never be replaced.

A sentiment that is shared by just about everyone here if I'm not mistaken.

Who are these guys? And should I care what they think?

They run the biggest and most popular Star Wars podcast out there. They regularly talk with all the big names in Star Wars these days including employees at Lucasfilm and the cast of the Clone Wars. Basically this is how a large portion of Star Wars fans learn what is going on with Star Wars.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)

So the Forcecast released a new podcast today. It's pre-recorded and they apparently only had heard the first two audio leaks from the blu-rays. I have to say it's pretty sad listening to them try to justify the changes while you can hear the disappointment in their voices. You can listen to the podcast here.

Here are some highlights:

54:32 They first start discussing the blu-rays

76:54 They discuss rumors of the ewok eyes being changed and Jason confuses the 2004 release with tweaks done to Greedo in "Star Wars: Revised"

79:59 Jason reveals his love for Hayden in ROTJ, Jimmy reveals his disdain for the change in pacing with the added shuttle and changed dialog in ESB

91:38 Jason reveals he had never noticed the Emperor's slug before and neither of them had ever heard the term "Emperor's Slug" before

93:16 Jason extolls the fact that George changes the films in each release and that to him it's like Christmas

94:33 They discuss how they learned a year ago from Matt Wood that in 2007 he, Dave Accord and Tom Myers had gone back into the audio to "clean it up"

95:50 the start of Matt Wood's discussion

99:25 They play the leaked audio of the new Krayt yell and quickly try to justify it, call it cool and ominous

101:01 They spend two and a half minutes trying to set up and justify the new Vader dialog before finally playing it

104:21 After the clip they both kind of pause and stumble before launching into justifications

111:25 They hint that maybe the vader scene isn't real anyway

After listening to the podcast if you'd like there are two ways to contact them. The first is their email which is forcecast@forcecast.net or you can leave a voice message at (330) 754-05FC (0532). If you decide to contact them please try and remain civil.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Thanks for the clip Ady, awesome work on the color correction and star fields! Personally I'd leave the hyperspace jump out. We know from SW77 that it takes time to get coordinates from a navi-computer to calculate a jump to lightspeed. So to have him figure out their destination based on their course and be instantly ready to jump to lightspeed so quickly is a bit of a stretch.

What's your Personal Canon?

Am i the only one who liked the Shadows of the Empire N64 game?

Not that i would add it to me personal canon.

I also did not care much for Dash Rendar ripoff of Han, or his outrider ripoff of the falcon.

But i liked the hoth level. The train level against ig 88, the battle with fett etc.

I really did not appreciate the added shadows of the empire CGI to star wars in 1997 however like the cgi bike lifted straight from the same files used in the game.

I read the book but never played the game. You forgot to mention that the Outrider and the ASP droids also made it into the SE.

I don't care for Dash either. Instead of creating that copy cat they should have opted for utilizing an already existing character, namely Kyle Katarn. He's perfect for that role being a mercenary working for the rebellion and already had a cool sidekick and ship.
