It isn't a Star Wars geek film, since the fandom didn't really exist in early 1977.
You'll just have to see it. ;)

Since "Fanboys" (the movie) didn't set the box office on fire, I've worried that there's a perception with the suits there's no audience for this film.
They've had some kind of problem for a lot longer than Fanboys. I saw a rough cut of 5-25-77 in 2007. I think both were shot around the same time. Fanboys just won the coin toss.
Bonnie and Clyde (1967)
Mark another off the list. It's definitely a fun ride until the end.

Or how about kids? Stupid Word, is Stupid.
Quite.
I saw a rough cut of it a few years ago. I'm rooting for him and not just because he directed one of my favorite films (Spaced Invaders).
So to celebrate TNG's 25th anniversary and to promote the new blu-rays they're going to be screening two episodes in theaters across the country:
Well that's a stupid controversy. The script and subtitles clearly state what it is but because some licensed products screwed it up, it's now unclear?

Ugh when I read interviews of Lindelof I cringe. His "vague is good" argument is a laughably transparent attempt to divert criticism from his extremely flawed, amateur writing.
I'm not sure who got it from who but this philosophy drives me crazy. A year or two ago Wired magazine let J.J. Abrams edit an issue and one of the things he kept harping on is that mystery is the key. It's the mystery that is important and it doesn't matter if there is an answer. Just...ARRGH.
The Dark Horse Classic Star Wars reprints are pretty cool. I guess you could say they're somewhat abridged. They were edited together and the repetitive panels that repeated dialog and story elements were removed. They're not really missed since really it was just the same thing said in a different way. What's nice about them though is that they got Al Williamson himself to work on it. So there are brand new panels he drew to better format the strip to the standard comic page. I myself prefer reading them in their original format. Color isn't needed, his art looks fantastic in black and white.
I was the one that told you about Warbird remember? =P But yeah I'm excited about it.
So you don't want 005 to contribute money toward John Carter? Or you're still good with hating 005 as long as he doesn't? =P
The Two Guys From Andromeda kickstarter is almost over and they're still not there. This could be a close one.
xhonzi, you at least know they're working on a new season right now, right?

My boss bought John Carter, so I'm going to borrow it solely based on your recommendation and so you won't hate me anymore.
I predict lingering resentment. =P
It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010)
Another I was interested in checking out in the theater but never got around to. I really enjoyed this film. It was pretty solid all around and I got a kick out of seeing Zach Galifianakis in a somewhat serious role.

By the way that's a much better Prometheus poster and tagline than the official poster.
Is it a fan effort?
Nope. They were handing them out at the IMAX midnight premiere. I guess exclusive mini-posters are IMAX's new thing.

^It's gotta be better than the version with Jeff Bridges, though, right?
Yeah, I mean come on. I know a lot of people don't like the 2005 version, but seriously, if you say you prefer the 1976 one you're just trying to start an argument and nothing else.
Eww, who said anything about the '76 version? It's all about the '33.

I loved it.
In fact in some ways I prefer it to the original.
Peter Jackson's King Kong was the most disappointing film I have ever seen. First of all he made Kong a silverback gorilla. Kong is a huge unknown ape, not a giant generic gorilla! Then we wasted so much time on that damn ship with a bunch of characters and subplots that go nowhere as most of those characters are swatted like flies and never addressed again. Then later we find out he cut a bunch of cool island stuff? Meh.
So someone found a little slip up:
Oops. =P
Prometheus (2012)
Just got back from seeing this a little bit ago. I have to say, I liked it. I could have done without the exogenesis nonsense but other than that I don't really have any complaints. It was a nice homage to a number of different films. Alien of course but then also to The Thing From Another World and The Thing. The only thing I don't get is how this is supposed to line up with Alien. In that in that the space jockey is found in his pilot seat with his chest burst. Not left in some abandoned capsule elsewhere. That and all the touch screens, feels like a big disconnect between the two technology wise. Eh, but I'm going to watch Alien in a little bit so I can compare them while it's still fresh.

Sounds like all this tech if it could have worked in real time would have been the live action show.
What do you mean? Everything they showed was running in real time in the game engine.
TRON: Uprising premieres tonight. If you haven't you should check out the free ep they uploaded. I'm still not entirely convinced you can completely connect the original '82 film to its 2010 sequel. But the 2010 TRON grid is pretty interesting by itself. I was impressed with the free ep.
Not surprised, Best Buy bonus discs are usually worthless.
