Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

Just got back from the theater. It was fantastic. I can't speak for the audio because I'm currently battling an ear infection so my hearing is rather muffled at the moment. I quite enjoyed the picture though. It was definitely the original cliff shot. There were a couple odd things though. First I saw some kind of weird artifacting or....something that would appear around some of the opening titles. It wasn't aliasing, more like specks that would sputter around them randomly. It was very brief and something that most probably didn't notice. They did remove Indy's reflection but oddly left the reflection of the Cobra in the glass when Marion fell. Lastly, the weirdest thing happened pretty early in the film. Suddenly Alfred Molina's face started to.....bulge. It was so odd and then when they cut to the full body shot of him covered in spiders he started to bulge all over. It was quite bizarre.

Sure, but I was thinking less of history awareness and more of the douchey sentiment from cardboard-saber guy (whether he's literal about the cardboard or not) that an old movie ought to just simply be upgraded, and how that's considered an actual legitimate thing to do now, an idea cultivated almost entirely by Star Wars '97.

Except that's not what he said. He mentions cardboard lightsabers (just the prop with no rotoscoped blades) and no effects in general. That would suggest he thought Wolfman wanted to see the movie without special effects. In other words he has no idea there are different versions of the films. Let alone that the originals have been suppressed.

The original versions of the original trilogy before George altered them, says I.

"Wha ? You mean you want to see them with cardboard lightsabers and no effects"?

Ha, the cartoonishly hacky sales douche. This is a good thing, at this point only the types of guys with the really shitty personalities that nobody likes are out there actively in favor of this revisionist bullshit.

Well that's rather harsh. It just seems to me that he, like many, aren't aware of what's happened to Star Wars. Which is a sad state of affairs that should compel us to enlighten the uninformed, not berate them.

It has great humor, fun action, and interesting niche in the sci-fi and Western genres...and far too much sexuality.  Yes, you all probably think I'm a prude, but it gets tiresome.  The most interesting stuff has been the cleanest so far.

That's the same problem I had with the show.

Having attended the last two Celebrations I can attest to the fact that the majority of people who attend don't care at all about the preservation of the OT. Questioning random people I encountered while there I found most were completely ignorant on the subject. While also running into a few "they're HIS movies!" types.

The most bizarre aspect about the whole thing to me was that when they'd screen the films at night almost no one would bother showing up. It would get at most a quarter full and then there'd just be a stream of random people entering and leaving throughout the presentation.

Is this what SW has devolved into, self parody? It's one thing when Robot Chicken does it, but this show is from Lucasfilm, right?

George enjoyed the Robot Chicken specials so much he gave Seth Green permission to develop his own series. This is the result.

Here's the actual trailer for the show by the way.

AND then, just to piss off everyone, they didn't show the one thing... or should I say the three things... everyone wanted to see in their full naked goodness.

At least I didn't have to pay $12 to watch it. Yay to teh interwebz!

O_o Uh...all three were there at the midnight premiere.
