Sure, but I was thinking less of history awareness and more of the douchey sentiment from cardboard-saber guy (whether he's literal about the cardboard or not) that an old movie ought to just simply be upgraded, and how that's considered an actual legitimate thing to do now, an idea cultivated almost entirely by Star Wars '97.
Except that's not what he said. He mentions cardboard lightsabers (just the prop with no rotoscoped blades) and no effects in general. That would suggest he thought Wolfman wanted to see the movie without special effects. In other words he has no idea there are different versions of the films. Let alone that the originals have been suppressed.

"Wha ? You mean you want to see them with cardboard lightsabers and no effects"?
Ha, the cartoonishly hacky sales douche. This is a good thing, at this point only the types of guys with the really shitty personalities that nobody likes are out there actively in favor of this revisionist bullshit.
Well that's rather harsh. It just seems to me that he, like many, aren't aware of what's happened to Star Wars. Which is a sad state of affairs that should compel us to enlighten the uninformed, not berate them.

It has great humor, fun action, and interesting niche in the sci-fi and Western genres...and far too much sexuality. Yes, you all probably think I'm a prude, but it gets tiresome. The most interesting stuff has been the cleanest so far.
That's the same problem I had with the show.

From what I remember they played them pretty late. I wasn't able to stay because the shuttles to and from the hotels stopped after a certain time. I just couldn't believe they treated the things that brought us all there with such little fanfare.

Having attended the last two Celebrations I can attest to the fact that the majority of people who attend don't care at all about the preservation of the OT. Questioning random people I encountered while there I found most were completely ignorant on the subject. While also running into a few "they're HIS movies!" types.
The most bizarre aspect about the whole thing to me was that when they'd screen the films at night almost no one would bother showing up. It would get at most a quarter full and then there'd just be a stream of random people entering and leaving throughout the presentation.

Yeah, I believe I recall either Seth or George once saying the show was supposed to be like a kind of Star Wars Looney Tunes. But it seems as if instead of classic Looney Tunes they went with the Looney Tunes Show.

Is this what SW has devolved into, self parody? It's one thing when Robot Chicken does it, but this show is from Lucasfilm, right?
George enjoyed the Robot Chicken specials so much he gave Seth Green permission to develop his own series. This is the result.
Here's the actual trailer for the show by the way.

Some people are already discussing it. A number of fans on TFN are afraid this series will disregard previous canon and go off on its own course.

Even the '30s work of Willis O'Brien still looks fantastic. Could the color film stock that Harryhausen had to work with later on be the culprit?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was outstanding. I loved the nod that he was Robin the whole time, without actually being the traditional Robin. He was Bruce's partner, without a costume. Fucking genius.

That caution is justified. We had a series of flashlights turned into improvised explosives that were left all around the city. They were mostly left around donation centers and when someone would pick them up they'd go off. No deaths as far as I know but a number of people were seriously injured.

Betrayal of the Planet of the Apes #1
So I saw a while back that BOOM! Studios got the rights to start doing Planet of the Apes comics. Around the time Rise of the Planet of the Apes was coming out I got into a huge PotA kick and watched all the films (sans Burton) and even got through most of the live action series. I loved that this was set in the original film universe so I decided to check it out. It does not disappoint. This feels incredibly authentic to the world the original films created in tone and in look. The writing is fantastic and the art matches it in quality. Definitely looking forward to reading through this mini-series.

It's cool that they got Peter Weller but I'm wary. I didn't care for their adaption of Year One. It felt like they rubbed the edges off and left it dulled.
