Was the BBY/ABY an in-universe calender? I always thought it was just for readers.

You're not missing out. I tried it and deeply regretted it. Felt like the film was being sped up most of the time. A thoroughly unenjoyable experience, I never bothered seeing it like that for the second.

No, there was always a quick shot of the Wampa rushing at Luke. The SE just expanded the scene with more shots. Here's the SE Wampa:

You could tell it was fake just by zooming in on that gif. The quality of that CG model was...not optimal. It looked like something out of a 90s FMV game.
Or you could haul your PS3 to your cousin's place.
If they had zero faith in it they wouldn't have given it a theatrical release. It would either have been buried or gone straight to video. As it stands, it doesn't look like it will do much business. The best way for them guarantee some profit would be to give it the TFA teaser as an exclusive.
I wouldn't be surprised if the reason it was announced and released so suddenly was that they realized they had this sitting there from before the sale and decided to cash in on it with the teaser instead of giving business to The Hobbit.

After seeing the Jar Jar levels of uncomfortableness in the Strange Magic trailer, attaching the Ep 7 trailer to this movie would be epically misguided.
What's misguided about it. If that's the only way to see the teaser, that's guaranteed ticket sales. Compared to increased sales for a competitor.
Would've been masterful had they painted the seat brown or green.

What that it exists? Nah, they've owned up to it for years. At one of the Celebrations they used publicity stills from it on free luggage tags they were giving away.
As for a blu-ray release. That will never happen. It was shot on tape, not film. So there's no version of it that would exceed 480p.
A DVD release however...
Well they could play it before the film and then again after the credits like they did during Meet Joe Black for TPM.
