CES most impressive announcement

It looks like they did absolutely nothing quality-wise, or addition-wise, or subtraction-wise to this release... though, I guess that's kind of a step up from having negative changes made...

I'm going to say this to anyone who dosen't quite get it (excuse the rudeness); it's a trailer, nothing is yet final! They'll obviously fix the sabers and perhaps the color (I think they'll still use the blue tint, but don't let that give your hopes up).

Help Wanted: The Phantom Tollbooth - can anyone do a preservation? a request...
Time

Though I bumped this topic to tell you that The Phantom Tollbooth in now available from The Warner Archive Collection!:

Do note, DVDaf says it will be available from the Archive Collection on November 30th, so it safe to say that this is a mistake.

Is there a single Lucasfilm release on blu that has not been tampered with ?
Time

Last Crusade just featured on line subtraction.

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=4155

"...in the initial Theatrical Release of "The Last Crusade", Walter Donovan points to a Chest of Gold Items and says to the Sultan of Hatay "... donated by the finest Jewish families in Germany." In all subsequent releases of The Film, including this one (DVD), the word "Jewish" has been edited out of the dialogue."

As an Lucasfilm DVD/Blu expert, I know this:

-American Graffiti. (No big altertations, just the opening. The rest remains unaltered. I expect this will be the same thing come the Blu-Ray release)

-Clone Wars Theatrical Movie (No alterations of any kind)

-Star Wars OT (2004 Versions. Will possibly be the same for Blu-Ray. The OOT is already available on DVD officially, albeit the 1993 Laserdisc transfers. No word yet for the OOT on Blu, but George is not saying "no".)

-Star Wars PT (TPM DVD release is the DVD version, AOTC is Digital Theater version so will call that a draw, and ROTS just features a tiny change and nothing more)

-THX 1138 (2004 Director's Cut. No DVD/Blu-Ray release of the Theatrical Version)

-Indiana Jones Quadrilogy (Not a single change. Crystal Skull remains untouched. The first will most likely and obviously remain unaltered for Blu-Ray)

-Clone Wars Micro Series (no changes on DVD, just optical wipes chapter-to-chapter. Not a big deal)

-Droids and Ewoks (Re-edited "movie" versions. No season box sets yet.)

-Ewok Movies (Caravan just features the international title "Caravan Of Courage: An Ewok Adventure. Battle For Endor features a line alteration and a line subtraction near the end.)

-Howard The Duck (no changes)

-Clone Wars CGI TV Series (No changes. Season sets feature the episodes in original 2.39:1 widescreen. Season 1 features 7 episodes in Director's Cut versions which is cool.)

-'The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (Re-edited versions)

Book Of The Dead AKA The Evil Dead - Preservation Edit (Released)

  • Book Of The Dead Trailer

 Will you (semi) reconstruct it?

 See No Evil said:

"Here are some other possible ideas for inclusion.

  • The Evil Dead standard open-matte trailer, or other foreign versions
  • Evil Dead deleted scenes edited & mixed from the various raw footage available
  • Old Book Of The Dead VHS version differences edited sequence
  • New Book Of The Dead/Blu-ray version differences edited sequence
  • Photo/video montage to music or stills gallery of modern movie location visits
  • Photo/video montage to music or stills gallery of Tom Sullivan's ED Museum"

That would be perfect for a 3rd disc. But if you add the US theatrical trailer, at least reconstruct it and add the classic New Line logo and the Knowby narration at the beginning (which I know you will).

Book Of The Dead AKA The Evil Dead - Preservation Edit (Released)
Time

Well if you think about a 2-Disc set, here's my suggestion:

Disc 1: The Film (which should feature the classic New Line Cinema logo)

-English 2.0 Original Mono

-Blu-Ray Audio Commentary with Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell (or maybe all 3 commentaries combined)

-Reconstructed Full Screen Theatrical Trailer (using Disc 2 of the R1 UE. Featuring the classic New Line logo, and the Knowby narration at the beginning)

-Reconstructed US TV Spots (Again, using Disc 2 of the R1 UE)

-Book Of The Dead Trailer (Semi-Reconstructed)

Disc 2: Within The Woods/Bonus Material

-Within The Woods

-UK TV Spot (can be found on Youtube)

-Japanese TV Spot (Again, found on Youtube)

-Compilation of the edits/censored bits from the BBFC certified 1990 Palace Pictures UK VHS release

-1983 Vintage Interview with Sam and Rob (possibly found on Youtube, but it could've been deleted)

-PM Magazine Detroit TV Spot on Renaissance Pictures

-1982 Tom Sullivan TV interview

-The Uncut Version of the Incredibly Strange Film Show

-Siskel and Ebert Review on The Evil Dead

If you're trying to find the classic New Line logo in full screen, the original individual single disc of A Nightmare On Elm Street has it. If you need any ideas for future Evil Dead Treasures Collection DVDs, don't hesitate to ask. ;)

THE EVIL DEAD: THE COMPLETE AND ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE IN GRUELING TERROR

Sources: Evil Dead Ultimate Edition, Evil Dead Blu-Ray, Evil Dead II Book Of The Dead Edition, Army Of Darkness Anchor Bay and Universal Release, Army Of Darkness Screwhead Edition, Army Of Darkness R3 MGM Director's Cut, Army Of Darkness RidgeShark's Primitive Screwhead Edition fan edit, Various New Line DVD, Various Universal DVD, and Evil Dead II and Army Of Darkness Soundtracks.

Intention/purpose: To create the greatest and longest Ultimate Evil Dead Trilogy project with additions and minor changes.

Changes: 1. Added Opening Logos for New Line Cinema, Rosebud Releasing Corportaion, Universal Pictures, Dino De Laurentiis Communications, and Anchor Bay Entertainment.
2. Necronomicon Opening from Evil Dead II added to very beginning
3. "March of Dead" by Danny Elfman added to opening titles
4. Deleted Moonshine Sequence and Deadite roaming through the forest sequence has been reinserted.
5. Add the digitally removed Robert Tapert version of the Oldsmobile crossing the bridge (taken from the Blu-Ray and downsizing it to DVD quality)
6. Delted Dungeon and Fixing the Cock sequences reinserted.
7. Piano Scene from Evil Dead II with Ash and Linda has been added to Evil Dead. Also the necklace bit from that scene has been removed.
8. Dinner scene extended
9. Ash skimping through The Book of The Dead sequnce extended.
10. Knowby narration from Evil Dead and Evil Dead II combined to add more information. With added music.
11. Removed Knowby's line "I know now that my wife has become host to a Khandarian Demon." so that way it's revealed later.
12. 2nd Knowby narration from Evil Dead slightly altered.
13. 1st card fix to 7 of Hearts
14. 2nd card fix to 7
15. Ash burying Linda from Evil Dead II added to Evil Dead.
16. More deleted/extended sequences from Evil Dead added.
17. Got rid of very ending to Evil Dead. This leads right into Evil Dead II (minus the recap).
18. Wall with clock added to Cabin right before Deadites before possesses Ash.
19. In one scene in the Fruit Celler when Ash tries to find the Necronomicon Pages, his chainsaw hand is on the other side, the scene has been flipped to the other side so it stays constant.
20. Add the line "Let evil reign for a thousand years!" from the workprint
21. Very ending to Evil Dead II removed. This goes right into Army of Darkness (minus the prologue). However, shots of knights from Evil Dead II's finale have been added.
22. Ash's grunt when he lands in 1300 AD in the Theatrical Version of Army Of Darkness has been reinserted
23. Possibly the idea of replacing the version of Ash landing on the ground with the fan-remastered one done by Zaaacharias (viewtopic.php?f=21&t=6958)
24. In Army Of Darkness, the Wiseman was on one side of King Arthur and the next, he's on the other. This has to be fixed.
25. Arthur's line "To the pit!" from Theatrical version has been reinserted among other things.
26. After Arthur punches Ash to the ground, add music that was heard where the knights agree to send Ash to the pit (because music can be heard when Ash says "You miserable bastards!)
27. One scene of Ash being dragged in the very beginning has been added.
28. Evil Ash's line "I...live...again." from theatrical version has been reinserted.
29. Evil Shelia has now Deadite eyes.
30. "Bring forth the scout!" line has been reinserted but in a different manner and voiced by someone else. I could say that line.
31. When Henry The Red and his men come to save the day, the sky looks a little bright. Fix this to make the sky a little darker. (Possibly using the Screwhead Edition)
32. S-Mart ending is there. No Apocalyptic ending.
33. "Magic" by Pilot, "Skin" by Joseph LoDuca, and other scores from the trilogy added to credits. Rest of original credit music from Army of Dakness will stay in there.
34. Credits redone to include EVERY single cast and crew member of the trilogy in Evil Dead font.
35. Added contributors who helped/supported on this project.

Special Features
-Anamorphic 1.85:1 Widescreen
-5.1 Surround EX
-Later editions might include additional (A.K.A. workprint) footage from Evil Dead II and your choice to view the film with either the S-Mart ending or the Apocalyptic ending via seamless branching (Ending only).

Would anyone want to see more star wars movies if they were made ?
Time

Basically, no. There's no reason to continue the film series as it already ended on a high note. Now, if Lucas made Episodes VII-IX after the release of Jedi (like maybe late 80's), I guess that's OK. However, I agree Burdokva, maybe a Knights Of The Old Republic movie trilogy could work and maybe another Clone Wars movie could work also as long if it dosen't disrupt continuity between anything that's already happened.
