1997 Special Edition Musings
Time

I love both versions the original and special editions and i re saw them in the theaters when they were re released in 97 and i waited in line to see each one but the way Lucas changed them in 04 trying to pass them of as the original films is a disgrace to the Original Star Wars Trilogy. Making Greedo shoot first giving Vader a pink lightsaber and replacing Sebastian Shaw with Hayden Christensen i will admit i hate the Yub Nub song but i don't see why Lucas just couldn't release the special editions on dvd but i can't wait for Adywans Star Wars trilogy to be done its the way they should have been released on dvd.

Star Wars Trilogy 1997 Special Edition DVDs?
Time

I am one of the many few who actually likes the special editions over the original versions ive heard of a Star Wars Trilogy Five Star Set that contains the 1997 special editions. These are the versions i saw when they were re released in the theaters i waited in line to see each one i hate the 2004 editions why the hell did Lucas switch Sebastian Shaw with Hayden Christensen. Has any one else heard of this set and know where i can find them?

Star Wars film versions and best DVD sources
Time

I have the Star Wars Trilogy on dvd and i thought i would come here because i cant stand the 2004 special editions there a disgrace to Star Wars. Lucas should have never changed them they were fine the way they were but i cant stand the Original version of Return Of The Jedi and that Yub Nub ending im looking for the 1997 remastered version five star special edition. Does any one know were i cant get this dvd because its the ending that i saw the theaters and i want to see again i fear that Lucas destroyed this version for greed so that no one can see Sebastian Shaw again.

Time

I can see the point of wanting the Original Star Wars Trilogy on Blu Ray but whats wrong with DVD? Its now starting to look like an old format DVD is far superior than VHS ever was can't people just be satisfied the Star Wars Trilogy is on DVD which was the main purpose of this site in the first place.

Your first reaction to Hayden is ROTJ
Time

Heres my take on the 2004 Special Editions i bought the Original Star Wars Trilogy on DVD the day they came out for the first time ever on DVD thinking they were the original theatrical versions however that was not the case Lucas changed the whole trilogy this is not the trilogy i grew up with adding Hayden Christensen in Return Of The Jedi was an insult to Sebastian Shaw but i do own the Original Versions on DVD the 2004 special edtions are great transfers and they look like new films but i wont watch them have the theatrical versions on dvd there for i like them better now we can watch Star Wars they way they were meant to be seen.

2006 DVD OOT
Time

I just bought the Star Wars Unaltered Trilogy on DVD off of this web site DELETED because i was unhappy with treatment of the 2006 release of the Original Trilogy the quality was horrible they should have got the same treatment that the 2004 Special Editions did with out any of the cgi but completely restored in there original form now i can watch them they way they were suppost to be now i can throw away the 2004 special editions and grace my Star Wars collection with the original theatrical versions they way they should be seen with Han shooting first no Ian McDirmid as the Emperor and no Hayden Christnesen in Return Of The Jedi.

Looks like the prequels are not aging well.

I for one love the Prequel Trilogy for what it is and have no complaints with it well besides that dreaded character Jar Jar Binks lol. Its not the Original Trilogy nor was it intended to be the Original Trilogy but what it was suppost to be was the back story the story that every Star Wars fan wanted to see for years and it 1999 we got it with The Phantom Menace with the story of Anakin Skywalker. I think people should let this topic rest because the Prequels are great movies and people just need to let it have its legacy in the Star Wars Saga.

You mention that the prequels are not the original trilogy nor were entended to be the original trilogy.  I think a lot of people use this argument when discussing the prequels as why they are not great movies (and I strongly stress that they are not great movies).

I can't think of a single reason the prequels could not have been as equals to the original trilogy, or perhaps even better.  What with the digital era of film making in full swing, Lucas had no technological limitations and could have put all of his focus into creating an awesome story arc and hiring the best to write, film, act and edit the new trilogy.

He could have not absolutely dropped the ball.  But he did.

That is true you have your opinion as im entitled to mine i would have loved it if the prequels were directed by some one else but it just wouldn't feel like Star Wars to me if they were i mean after all Star Wars is George's creation and his alone to do what ever he may please with it.

Which did you prefer, the SE or the 2004 DVD edition?
Time

Well i may sound mad but i prefer the 2004 DVDs over the SE as bad of a set it is its on DVD format and i really cant stand VHS any more and haven't used one in ages. Yes some of the changes weren't necessary like trying to make it kid friendly and of course Greedo shooting first but the best thing about the 04 set is they are in anamorphic widescreen and the 06 set is not an the most irritating thing is the blue tint in Empire which i really cant stand and cant wait for Adywans revisited of Empire which i will be watching more of Adywans edit once its finally finished but ill stick with the 04 set for now oh and how could we forget the most noticeable change in Jedi with Haydens head poorly pasted on to Sebastian Shaws head. I could go into more detail but those are the changes that annoyed me the most and any Star Wars fan can pick out.

2008 box?
Time

I don't think this set should have been made its just a cheap way for Lucasfilm to get a quick buck i already have the entire saga on dvd and yes sadly the 06 release of the originals because it was the set i wanted in the first place and there not that bad. The covers are awesome so throw away your special edition disc and keep the theatrical version those are the set to have along with the prequals.
