Hmm...but the thanks is cancelled out for everything else he said 'yes' to. I remember him saying that the scene of Anakin leaving his mother was emotionally gut wrenching.

I left the theatre. And didn't look back. Didn't look back.

Info & Help: looking for... other ld-rips to dvd movies ex. blade runner int cut, songs of the south, frighteners dir cut - and much much more...

Here's a start - THX Lobby Cards - it's a page that, while I didn't find large scans of movie posters, the lobby card section contains great scans at full resolution. These images would be ideal for maybe the back of the DVD cover or something. Anyway, I'll continue to mine the internet for stuff.

Actually, tell me THIS puppy isn't sweet!

The Indiana Jones Project (Released)

THE RAIDER DVD SPECIAL - was actually a re-edit more or less of the original 1981 television special. I believe there may have been one or two shots actually that differred from the original special, but it is almost negligible and porbably a waste of time to include it. Plus, most of us probably have it already.

The Diet Coke Commercial - was included at the beginning of the Last Crusade VHS release (both the single and box set versions from 1990).

If anyone wants this, I can provide it - baby hum, contact me via PM if you'd like this.

Are we talking a Beta transfer from the LD source is being uploaded?

Just curious because that's what I gathered from the posts, but I could be wrong. Like I said, I don't have the means right now to upload a screengrab (I'm 'between' DVDRoms right now) - but it is a lossless transfer of the original LD.

I mean, the quality is better than the original broadcast and definately better than the VHS copy. Like I said, the offer stands if someone wants to borrow the original LD and make it from that.

Also, I would love to see some of the original Kenner toy commercials, especially the one for the 12" Indy figure where the kids in the forest throw him into a pit of deadly venemous...worms. Classic stuff for anyone that recalls it.

Hopefully I'm not chiming in too late here, but I have a DVD transfer of the 'Making Of/Great Stunts' specials which I made in film school, complete with menus and other goodies (BTS photos and production art) which I transferred from the American LD.

I contacted someone from here a few days ago about perhaps uploading this to a certain underground torrent site, but haven't heard back. This is pretty uncanny timing that this has come up now.

I'm sure someone could get ahold of my DVD and make a better job of it than me, but it's up for donation provided I get it back at some point - it's my only copy and I don't have the means right now to duplicate it.

Anway, if someone wants it for this project, let me know.

EDIT - I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that if some trustworthy individual wants to do all of the work, I could be persuaded to lend out the laserdisc - maybe even 'Raiders' too if anyone wants the original sound mix and the reflection in the glass between Indy and the Cobra.

- Remember the good 'ol days when THX was just a sex starved bald guy trying to escape his repressive society?

BTW - is it appropriate to include the THX logo on DVD cover art? I didn't actually think that the source material was THX encoded until the Faces editions. I could be wrong though.

Funny you should mention that. It's been a big day for Lucasfilm - first Ben Burtt quits, and now look what I found...

The original DVD release of AG has the digital sunset, and the original shot can be seen in the documentary on the disc.

I believe that all versions of AG (save the bonus features) contain the same version of the film that originally appeared on the first DVD. I think we're up to three different releases now - the orignal DVD, the Drive-In Double Feature edition, and the new High-School Reunion version. To my knowledge the only way to get the original sky shot is in the doc or on the original VHS (not the THX remastered one).

This could all be just blowing smoke though - I'm not sure if anyone cares about this besides me.

The changes made to the 'Raiders' DVD don't fundamentally alter the film the way the Star Wars SE's or DVD's did, but there are a few subtle things including the aforementioned cobra reflection. Additionally, the guide track that the boulder rolled down in the opening sequence was digitally removed. Most people would probably scoff at me for saying this, but I'd like to have an unaltered original - warts and all. While the content is the same, Lowry Digital still tinkered with it.

The sound remix is obvious though - I consider the re-mix better, but I'd still like the original preserved.

American Grafitti was alterered more noticeably. Check out the sunset during the opening sequence at Mel's Diner. My older VHS copy has the original sunset, but my DVD has the ILM CGI sky, which now looks like a sunset on Tatooine.

This begs the question though - is there a widescreen version of the original THX-1138 anywhere? I have it on VHS but it's pan and scan.

It was YOU you bastard.

Just kidding - despite violating E-bay's policies (more than likely) you probably did, at least, the financially right thing.

But seriously, if you can, drop a couple of bucks through Paypal or something to the folks who actually took the time and effort to preserve the Star Wars we all know and love. If the Editdroid crew would stop being so mysterious I'd be willing to send 'em a few bucks as way of thanks...but I know they're a little iffy about their identities so...

Hey - sorry if this is a bit off topic here, the general forum seemed a bit too, well, general.

Anyway, has anyone ever considered preserving the original versions of 'Raiders,' 'THX-1138,' or even 'American Graffitti?' I'd love to see 'Raiders' on DVD without all of the digital manipulations and the original sound mix, as well as the original cut of the other two I mentioned.

If I had the time/equipment to do it, I'd transfer the LD's of 'Raiders' and the 'Making of/Great Stunts' specials. Just to see the reflection in the glass in the Well of Souls if nothing else.

HI-Res Poster Art

Well, thanks for the feedback. Yeah, like I initially said, my PS skills are inadequate for a real professional job. If there were some place to upload all of them I would be more than happy to e-mail the text versions. But I think I'm done posting images here for a while, I don't want to hijack the bandwidth.

Also, yeah, the ESB poster is about as hi-res as I've ever seen, short of getting ahold of an original (which I've seen as a postcard...hmm) and scanning it.

I'm not really sure where to look for non-text versions of the ones I butchered though...
